I still think it qualifies as news because Snap-On hasn't had a new air impact in a few years. How often do you hear Desoutter releasing a new impact? On the other hand you have AirCat, Ingersollrand, etc coming out with a new impact quite frequently. So from a company where air impacts are not their strong suit, lets see what snap-on has to offer.
I've seen that on ebay , a couple weeks ago. Don't remember a thing about it though. I like the looks of the thing, pretty short, handle looks comfortable.
well looks like its a Sioux similar to how they use the air drills and other stuff. The Snap-On dealer that posted this to instagram said it hasn't been released and pricing is not known yet. Im hoping it will be made in America, under $300 MSRP, and comes in a stubby version.

I just checked Snap On's website and they didn't have any so how was it on eBay?
Let's not jump to conclusions just yet.If the "MG" in MG725 stands for magnesium in the housing, does the "PT" in PT850 stand for "plastic tool"?
.
Its called PT850 so I suspect 850 will be its max torque. That's generally how their most recent naming scheme works anyway. In fairness to anyone thinking it should be more powerful it looks to be half an inch shorter and 6 ounces lighter than the 2235. Its still a giant move in the right direction considering the number 1 complaint with SO impacts by far is their ergonomics and weight distribution.
How is the ear splitting brutal loudness of the mg725 not the #1 complaint? Do people just equate noise with power?

I hate plastic air tools. I'll accept a metal case with a foam or synthetic rubber overlay; I've chilled my hands too often using air tools that went cold from the expanding air in the motor.
I just hate to see the world fill up with more damn plastic; and then be told that it's a Space-Age Miracle Composite--as if it wasn't a cost-cutting trick.

Two places of I heard of this are putting it at 1,600 ft-lbs breakaway. Should be interesting when it hits the market.

I said it in a Facebook discussion about these, if the 1600 ft/lb claim is true, which I really doubt in a 1/2" anvil, it will require an incredible amount of air. The MG is alreasy an air hog that really wakes up with a bigger hose and high flow fittings, I'd bet the average user, with regular fittings and 3/8 hose will be disappointed in this guns output. My 3/4 impact is 1560 ft/lbs, I have a 1/2" hose plumbed straight to it, no fitting on the gun. It is an absolute beast, I just can't see a 1/2" gun reliably making more power.
A bolt that isn't turning a 1500 ft lb would twist your hands off.
A cord drill when a bit jams when drilling rips the drill out of your hands and it isn't 300 ft lb..
and why big drills have 2 handles 90* from each other..
The 2235 is 1350 so it seems reasonable. Everyone measures it diffferently as well.
And an impact gun is nothing like a drill.
