Well, picked up a set of the XL wrenches for $52 shipped. I've been wanting a set of long reach wrenches for a long time now, just couldn't justify the cost of a truck brand. These will do nicely.

The surprise points were generous to me this week: I got $22 with no minimum. I ordered a $23 sheet metal crimper from Midwest Tool and Cutlery (item MW-C5, I believe), and the total came to $0.81.

It was always part of China until 1949 when the dictator who ruled China was overthrown and he fled to Taiwan. The US then bullied the world, except for Russia and China, into saying Taiwan was a separate country. Now that China is our trade partner, China bullied everyone back into saying that it wasn't a separate country. Politics are a wonderful thing.
Perhaps Taiwan has now evolved into a separate nation. I hope that it can survive that way. I don't have to rewrite history however to wish for that.

That's incorrect. The democratic party overthrew Ching Dynasty, but Communist red party rose and took over instead. The democratic party fled to Taiwan (took a lot of national treasure for the road). The same party has ruled Taiwan ever since. No dictator ever fled to Taiwan. The "father" of Chinese democracy did, along with the party hoping one day China would wake up and become a true democracy. Still waiting....
Meanwhile Taiwan has produced and exported great quality at low cost. From electronics to tools, "made in Taiwan" is taken as a symbol of pride for the Taiwanese people. Very different than the mainland Chinese approach. These days things are a bit mirky, but you can still trace quality back to it's origin. Foxconn can produce great Apple products with extreme standards manufacturing in China. Asus and Giant are two other great examples.

Totally disagree with the first paragraph but this isn't the place for this. I do hope Taiwan maintains its relative independence though until China radically changes. I doubt that China will become more democratic in our lifetimes though.

Well, Got my $59.00 long ratchet wrenches.
They seem pretty nicely made.
Fit and finish looks good.
Haven't used them on a bolt yet, Just working the ratchet with my hands, sounds a little 'tinny" but I guess they're fine. (time will tell)

I suppose it more depends on what college (or not) one went to for their facts. I think we can agree colleges can vary from one extreme to other, and many let their egos get in the way of providing a real edumacation.
I received an offer for 50% back in points on a tool purchase up to $50, or max $25 back. First time I've received that as a "personal" offer.

Just received my two sets today (metric and sae long ratching box wrenches) and they seem "good" for my mechanical tasks...... definitely NOT for everyday heavy industrial/commercial use but for the "sale price" I am very happy.

I used this yesterday. The electric motor is powerful, and has some beef to it. The chuck seems decent. But the overall build quality of the rest of the unit seems rather poor/lower quality. This drill press sure ain't your grandfather's Craftsman drill press. More like a Harbor Freight drill press. I think if someone wants a drill press, it might be a good idea to keep an eye on Craiglist for an old made in the USA drill press, then just refurbish it.
Lets keep the politics for free parking or something and focus on deals.

Got my Craftsman XL metric long wrenches. Not as good as the Craftsman Industrials or old stock USA Craftsman Professionals, but pretty decent. I like the 0 degree offset and the way the fixed end protrudes out a bit. I think I'm actually going to get good use out of them for hard to reach nuts/bolts. I think these would also be good for changing serpentine belts.
Might have to get the SAE set while the price is right.

They are. I always used my buddy's at work, we'll a G W one for serpentine belts.
Think it was a 14 of 15.
Worked great.

Ok SYW screwed me over on this. I swear it showed me paying the $59.99 less $15.28 in points before tax.......after tax shoulda been $46.00 or $46.01 (state sales tax only).
But they charged me the full $59.99.
I know I'm not always the sharpest when it comes to understanding how they calculate points (and indeed the $6 in points I earned was 10% of the order total which is why it confused me - I should only earn 10% on what I pay out of pocket), but I'm a savvy shopper and I know what I'm paying before I click that "submit order" button.
Anyway after some thought and trying to call SYW but being put on hold......I decided to take the path of least resistance and order the SAE set too. This time it still says I have my $15 in surprise points (so maybe I screwed up and somehow didn't use them, never mind the fact I know I clicked the button to redeem points) and $6.98 other points in my account. I applied the full $21.98 to the SAE set and am paying $39.11 all in (tax, everything) for the SAE set.
I took screen shots (ctrl+prt scrn) and pictures on my phone to prove my case. I also put this order on my Amex and if I'm not charged exactly $39.11 Sears will be fawked.
However this time it says I earned $3.80 in points which is what it should be - 10% of out of pocket.
I hate to reward Sears' incompetence by just spending more money with them, but I do want the SAE set and even the full $60 for the metric is still a decent deal.
TL;DR: it's sad we have to do this but protect yourself with screen shots of the final order total and payment breakdown!!!

What do you get out of this 3 foot prybar that you couldn't get out of a crowbar? The smaller prybars make sense because they fit into places that larger prying tools wouldn't. But when you go to 3 feet, I think an expensive crowbar makes a lot more sense because you can use it in so many places. We can probably all imagine one use where that might not be true but to spend money on something this size and keep it around because you may hypothetically need it at some unspecified time in the future, makes no sense to me.

Ironically, the ratchet in the Craftsman set is better (who'd ever thought that would be a statement on GJ), but otherwise not much. Unless you need 12 point sockets.
I'd go for the HF set anyway, and buy a nicer 3/4 drive ratchet or breaker bar.

the craftsman ratchet is much nicer, although part of this might be the different shape of the handles.
the tekton case is much nicer (since things just rattle around in the craftsman one.)
both sets of sockets seem to perform the same, although the fit and finish on the craftsman ones i have seem better (although they are probably 10 years old).
not to be that person, but you could get the SAE craftsman set, and the MM tekton one. this will leave you with two ratchets, which is what you are going to want (ok, i want at least two ratchets and one breaker bar. but we already know that i am a broken toy).

it is not clear to me that the tekton and the HF sets are not the same thing. (wow, could i have made that any more convoluted?)
as i recall, tekton is not written on any of it. i dont think hf pays whatever extra it costs to get their name written on it either.
but anyway, i agree with above. buying the tekton/hf one, and buying an additional [craftsman|proto|wright|gearwrench] ratchet off ebay is likely the way to go . . . .

that takes on the order of 30 minutes at my store. if you hang around, the guy who comes to get it will just hand it to you, but then you have to pay attention (although depending on who they send, he would likely recognize me).
