I picked up a set of 12 metric and saw Husky stubby wrenches for 7.00. The not much of a discount, but they will work for me.

Even at stores that are generally very good with their inventory counts, anything under 5 may or may not exist. With poor inventory management stores, anything under 20 may or may not exist. Yes 20, not a typo.

Don't ever expect HD inventory to be correct or even close, you'll be disappointed often. And it really doesn't matter if it's a $2 drill bit or a $500 compressor, their numbers are often screwy no matter what the item or the value.

Unless it was a bar of gold, I wouldn't even waste more than 5 minutes looking for a 1 inventory, it almost certainly doesn't exist.

Just because the items are nowhere to be found, doesn't actually mean the counts are off. I know. Doesn't make sense, but it's true. Just yesterday, I found some clearance storage bins (somebody posted em a few pages back). They showed 23 in stock, and I found them all wrapped up on a pallet in the rafters. They pulled them down, gave me the 12 I asked for, then took the rest straight to the back. A year or so ago, when the 52" Husky boxes were $125, I lucked up on a store that showed 6 in stock. I found 2 in the rafters, and asked for some help locating the remaining 4. 1 they said they couldn't find anywhere. 1, they found in the back. 2 were not in the store at all, but in a storage trailer they keep on the property. I suspected that last one was in the trailer as well, but I didn't care. The point though, is that at least 3 of 6 were in stock, but nowhere on the sales floor. 2 weren't even in the building.

Guess you've never seen a negative stock count? It's rare, but I've seen up to -3 before. I usually don't chase down 0 stock items though.

Ha! Back in the penny nail days, some of the hitachi and paslode fuel counts were negative well into double digits. :lol_hitti

I bought both. One for me and one for pops. If he didn't want it I was going to turn around and sell it

EGO CS1400 down to $85. Anybody have experience with these? Are they worth it at that price?

There is no such thing as a free lunch.

Especially at Home Depot, because there is no way Id walk out without buying something!

which is the only reason they have a free lunch. . . . .

although, to be fair, (i think it was two years ago) we had a vicious heat wave in july. 10 days in the upper 90's (or something like that). the local HD emptied the soda cases and filled them with water bottles with a big sign that said "Free, one per person".

gotta respect that . . . . .

Yep!

Down here in CT it was hot as hell too, they were handing water out to everyone. They even gave one to my son, which I thought was really cool (no pun intended) of them.

Lowes seems to have friendlier employees, but I prefer HD because of the deals :)

yes. the sign specificly said "per person", not "per customer" so there was no confusion.

i think so too. but this morning, while i was at HD, *everyone* was pleasant. offering to help, smiling.

maybe some big shot was in the store (although there was still a lot of loitering in groups talking). but to be fair, there are not a lot of customers there at 7 am.

I noticed the day before Pro Days there was a skinny, preppy kid in my store. Skinny tie, striped shirt tucked in, skinny pants. He was on the computer & it struck me as odd until I realized he was somehow an employee. But not a regular employee - musta been District or something.

Honestly I felt bad for store mgmt- I wouldn't want to take orders from a snot-nose millennial. I guess that's corporate retail though....

edit: I was using the computer kinda close to him at the Pro Desk & I don't think he noticed me or cared, so I shouldn't complain

What an awful post. Just because someone wears a tie and looks professional, he must be a snot nose huh? Should never judge a book by its cover, but your book ***** based on this post.

Incredibly arrogant and judgmental. Unreal.

And I'm not talking about the 'kid'.

You do realize the term millennial covers a wide age range right? 1982-(approx)2004
Yeah, dang snot nose 35yo. Surgeons, lawyers, lt. colonels, contractor, fabricators, business owners.... just wish they would learn their place and leave! But then who would wipe your backside when your laid up in the hospital, need a lawyer, need...well, anything....? Never mind, you must have it covered...

He made a comment about someones looks and wardrobe. Who cares, you people should get off your high horse, each one of you have done the same.

Enough of the grandstanding, get over yourselves.

I only jump to conclusions of people being assholes or D-bags based on what they say, not what they look like.

See what I did there?

Actually, the poster opened up a generalization to possibly include over 83.1 million people in the U.S. (census.gov, 6/25/2015)
I'll get off my high horse now... he's scared of heights...

He made additional gestures, moreso than about wardrobe and looks. Nonetheless, It was only a matter of time before the bad guys buddy jumped in to complain about somebody complaining.

Hypocrisy at its finest. :willy_nil Gotta have some thick skin if you want to play on the internet.

I wish I had a deal to post on this as well but I cant sneak away from work for another hour or so.

In his best Jeff Foxworthy voice:

If you have to take a picture of your food & post it online every day at lunch...

You might be a millennial...
