I picked up a set of 12 metric and saw Husky stubby wrenches for 7.00. The not much of a discount, but they will work for me.

Just because the items are nowhere to be found, doesn't actually mean the counts are off. I know. Doesn't make sense, but it's true. Just yesterday, I found some clearance storage bins (somebody posted em a few pages back). They showed 23 in stock, and I found them all wrapped up on a pallet in the rafters. They pulled them down, gave me the 12 I asked for, then took the rest straight to the back. A year or so ago, when the 52" Husky boxes were $125, I lucked up on a store that showed 6 in stock. I found 2 in the rafters, and asked for some help locating the remaining 4. 1 they said they couldn't find anywhere. 1, they found in the back. 2 were not in the store at all, but in a storage trailer they keep on the property. I suspected that last one was in the trailer as well, but I didn't care. The point though, is that at least 3 of 6 were in stock, but nowhere on the sales floor. 2 weren't even in the building.

Ha! Back in the penny nail days, some of the hitachi and paslode fuel counts were negative well into double digits. :lol_hitti

Nice find on that paslode... I think my store only had a couple of them and they got bought at a higher price sitting in the clearance end-cap... :(

which is the only reason they have a free lunch. . . . .

although, to be fair, (i think it was two years ago) we had a vicious heat wave in july. 10 days in the upper 90's (or something like that). the local HD emptied the soda cases and filled them with water bottles with a big sign that said "Free, one per person".

gotta respect that . . . . .

Yep!

Down here in CT it was hot as hell too, they were handing water out to everyone. They even gave one to my son, which I thought was really cool (no pun intended) of them.

Lowes seems to have friendlier employees, but I prefer HD because of the deals :)

yes. the sign specificly said "per person", not "per customer" so there was no confusion.

i think so too. but this morning, while i was at HD, *everyone* was pleasant. offering to help, smiling.

maybe some big shot was in the store (although there was still a lot of loitering in groups talking). but to be fair, there are not a lot of customers there at 7 am.

I noticed the day before Pro Days there was a skinny, preppy kid in my store. Skinny tie, striped shirt tucked in, skinny pants. He was on the computer & it struck me as odd until I realized he was somehow an employee. But not a regular employee - musta been District or something.

Honestly I felt bad for store mgmt- I wouldn't want to take orders from a snot-nose millennial. I guess that's corporate retail though....

edit: I was using the computer kinda close to him at the Pro Desk & I don't think he noticed me or cared, so I shouldn't complain

He made additional gestures, moreso than about wardrobe and looks. Nonetheless, It was only a matter of time before the bad guys buddy jumped in to complain about somebody complaining.

Hypocrisy at its finest. :willy_nil Gotta have some thick skin if you want to play on the internet.

I wish I had a deal to post on this as well but I cant sneak away from work for another hour or so. :eek:
