No sorry i dont have a weather station.

From reports I've seen it varies around 300 - 400mm of rain on the 31st of March.

Yeah gold coast got more rain than we did. Sorry no rain gauge.

On the plus side the yard is drying out a bit.

Got the last of the plumbing on the house done this morning and I'm ready to go when the concrete guys are available again.

Finished up the last of the downpipes on the house today. House gutters are all plumbed again.

Now the waiting game for the concrete guy to be ready to do my driveway.

A lot of good progress there Steve, it's coming together nicely.

My rain gauge was full when I got home on Thursday (I left work at noon and got home a bit before 2pm - I had to try a few different ways to get through), so I don't know how much we got either.

Haha yeah I was thinking if I had a gauge it would've overflowed. Lets just put it down to "it rained a **** load!"

Got the mains water hooked up back to the shed. I'm ready for concrete now!

Guys came and cut up some of the old concrete ready for removal on Friday.

Driveway pour planned for Monday next week if the weather holds out. fbcc89eca2fdd988778e668a0e3b2c4c.jpg

I came home to some of the existing concrete with loads of cuts ready for removal on Friday.

I also picked up this giant fitting for the water inlet on my water tank

6ce8b5a2a18508e7bfc3bfc5fd4bba1f.jpg

I decided to go with a relatively unheard of system called a SupaDiverta which cleverly diverts water to a wet system that fills the tank from the bottom via syphonic action.

You can read more at www.supadiverta.com.au or follow my thread as I set it up on the shed.

I've ordered the divertas and they'll arrive soon.

Well after a very stressful weekend sorting out the final details the day has arrived for the huge driveway pour.

Is there anything better than new concrete? I've just had the final bits put in at my place. A little bit of turf left to do and then I've officially landscaped every square inch of the block.

You won't know yourself with all that new space.

Thanks guys
Just went round and wet down all the new work before bed.

Wouldnt mind a bit of a sprinkle from the sky to help it cure off.

A guy with a saw is coming tomorrow to put joint lines in and Wednesday the concrete guys will be back for the final touches of concrete with the driveway ramp and a small section at the front of the house.

So pro tip I picked up online somewhere. I taped over the top of all of the trench drain before they concreted it in.

5f14b9a6882cc02e4106f811629edc6a.jpg

Once they were done you peel the tape and you get nice clean tape lines and the drain looks perfect.

In other news the new concrete has cracked in a couple of spots.

a326b93d5f06b622dc09f2c24c498f47.jpg

Annoying part is the guy cutting the joints isn't coming until tomorrow. They really should've cut the lines on the same day.

Will do my best to get them to cut the joints along the cracks. They're not too bad at the moment but if it gets worse I'll be asking for something to be done to repair it I think.

Re: Steve's Aussie Shed/Workshop Build 12mx7m & 3.6m High!

So long story short I still have no shed built despite it being promised by the builders by this weekend.

So I got sick of waiting for tradies and decided to build my fence myself on Good Friday - so i guess it's now good neighbor Friday!

I have a couple of panels to do at the front but nothing much. Will finish it up tomorrow morning.

Shed guys will be around to make some progress tomorrow also. I'll be sure to take some pics.

WOW nice job. If the council allowed you to put that much concrete down . I would have made a bigger garage. In my area they decide your build with the amount of water collection/run off area. ie: too much concrete equals too much water collection. So too much runoff stuffs up their inadequate drains. Hence I have to pay more money for legal approval . Corrupt ...yep

There's rules here about the amount of concrete but I think the pictures are making it look like there's more than there really is.

The plan diagram on the first page gives a better perspective of how much concrete is actually there.

As for shed size i don't think i would've got approved for anything bigger on my block to be honest.

I was pushing the limit on the height of it but the shed build company pushed it through. There's plenty of dodgey deals with the privately run council approval system here.

I just wish i was allowed to run my drainage to the back fence. Would've saved a lot of money and heartache over the past month.

We have serious progress on the shed today. I finally get to see just how high it'll be.
