My girlfriend setup a little shed warming party on the weekend. It was also recently her 30th. I thought the balloons were funny. bbbff105b64b1b3466fd15b84b0e99e0.jpg

So i realised i needed a big *** ladder to help me work on things like lights and doing gutter guard. Ended up with an adjustable platform ladder. I can reach the ceiling in the middle of the shed now.

My gutter guard and water diverter have arrived and I'll be plumbing in the water this weekend.

He also included some custom purgers for air to be glued into the top of the down pipes.

It's a complicated setup but I'll take pics along the way to explain.

That's all for now.

We might just be sharing the same brain you and I.

I was planning to go out and buy a platform ladder soon myself, i actually looked at that EXACT one at bunnings! I also plan on putting pallet racking across the exact same wall in my garage!

I actually looked up this Euco Diamond hard, and it seems to have great reviews. The local place i went to only offered a concrete sealer/tinter that they couldn't give me any information for. So i was abit hesitant to use it. I actually went out and bought a 20L drum of it. Had to drive half way across sydney after work to get it. I honestly cant see myself using 20L of the stuff, how much did you end up using?

Oh! garage is looking great!

Rudi, i used about 3/4 of a 20L tub of Diamond Hard. Spread it evenly as if it sits on top it will leave a clear coat run looking spot on the floor.

I went and grabbed some lights off a guy on Gumtree who bought them for an office fitout but they didnt fit. Got 30 LED lights for $200 bargain.

I also started working on the setup of the down pipes and the supadiverta.

Oh and about the ladder - ignore the fairly expensive price, just buy it. Its brilliant if it's the right height for your needs.

I got mine from bunnings too. Only certain stores had stock of it though.

So i managed to get a LOT more done on the plumbing today. It really is the most complicated system for dumping water into a tank. However if it works it'll be almost maintenance free.

Got to this stage

ca92737b9b8432c8880f164bc1aefc89.jpg

Then had to make up a funky set of bends because i stupidly put the down pipe in the wrong place before the concrete was poured. At the time I was going to use this as the overflow for the tank. Hence the location right next to the tank.

d6f9252cc6f842037a915a5770376f79.jpg

Then i really made progress...

1c04a938c7f4a3680f77c8730ad73c6f.jpg

I just need to do the pipes from the gutter to the divertas and finish up the connection to the tank. Daylight got the better off me though.

I am just a little lost with this diverta system. Why did you not just run the water into the top of the tanks and have an overflow down pipe ?
There's inherent flaws with doing that. It allows a lot of leaves and sediment to get into the tank. Even with a leaf eater leaves do not clear themselves from the system due to the shallow angle on the mesh grille.

Another concern is leaving the top of the tank open to sunlight which grows algea in the tank.

Check out www.supadiverta.com.au for more of an explanation of how it works.

Hey, just want to add a quick personal point here. If you want to use these in high frost areas as the 20mm pipes will freeze when they are full of water and can damage the pipework, so they would have to be installed under ground!! JMHO.

The down pipes are 25mm and the horizontal is 50mm.

I could've put it all underground but we start wearing jackets in 25deg c here in Brisbane so I won't have any issues with freezing.

That I'll be able to see if anything needs attention with it above ground.

Is that the aldi printer Steve? How's it going?
Yup aldi. Its great. Honestly the best thing I've ever bought there. 15 mins setup and i was printing great quality stuff.

I printed the braces for the z axis and now its even better. Loads of mods well documented out there too.

I took a timelapse video of the shed build. Finally had time to edit it together.

I couldn't find a way to embed the youtube video into the post.

Finally got the rainwater system finished up with gutterguard on both gutters. The system I installed is the best looking one I could find for corrugated roof.

With the big tree above the shed the gutters were already starting to fill with leaves.

It rained pretty much most of last week and my tank is almost full already. I'm happy with the whole setup and nothing is leaking. b0f1d7537b35eab1f51e89882c592acf.jpgd87e9bb9ad360fd8cd9dd0fbb76d8f00.jpged3c5c44c30fc65215ee6d517fe5b459.jpg

I'm into american bbq and smoking meats like ribs and briskets. A branch of the tree fell onto the back fence and over the train lines.

The train line team left the branch on my side for me to cut up and dispose of. So im drying it out to use in my smoker. I believe it's either red gum or box gum. Both are good smoke woods.ec1c6029dea393be655e2e671a900a4f.jpg

I've been hunting around for the right electrician to run power to my shed. As you already know I've got the conduit all run and so what I thought would be a fairly inexpensive job has blown out of proportion in costs.

I've done up some schematics for the future electrician to follow. This is the house where I need wiring done for the A/C in my living room and a GPO installed for an automatic roller door opener in future.

attachment.php

And here's the shed schematics.

attachment.php

attachment.php

Now all of this work has been quoted at $8600 including materials and labour. I cannot fault the guy, he came around and spent a few hours going over all the details with me and checking out the existing fuse box and making sure I'd be able to have adequate power to run to the shed.

I'm just a bit blown away by his price.

Unfortunately in Australia it is illegal to do your own electrical work and even more unfortunate is that I don't have a mate who is a sparky to help out.

Am I being unreasonable about the cost?

I'm also looking to install a Bendpak 2 post clear floor hoist as evident in the schematics above. I've had a quote for this:

XPR-10a_Info02.jpg

1x BENDPAK XPR10AS 4.5tonne 2 Post Hoist Single Phase $4050inc GST
1X Delivery & Installation $950INC GST

Total: $5000.00 INC GST

* They don't do any electrical work in the installation quote above.

Is this a reasonable price?

Starting to feel like this is getting out of hand $ wise.
