Busy day in my garage, did some more cleaning and organizing then helped my brother remove a stripped drain plug. After he left a friend came by so we could adjust the door on his kids 98 Mustang SVT Cobra. It was nice finally doing something productive out there.

Shredded a bunch of old paper and misc. work orders, etc.

Sorted out some tools for packing to move and started putting stuff on the side for eBay sales, garage sales, etc. in the near future.

I was sorting through a big coffee can of mixed nails, bolts, screws left in an old cabinet I just repainted. I believe the can came from my fathers garage, 25 years ago.

Found some cool key chains...they are little tools....hammer, pliers, and hack saw...

https://scontent-ort2-1.**.fbcdn.net/v/t1.0-9/28166989_2149285315098002_3011475112047661390_n.jpg?oh=bf469ad7e12d0e5ba67306d363062c28&oe=5B183C46

I also popped the top today in my heated garage as it is easier to clean the interior...

https://scontent-ort2-1.**.fbcdn.net/v/t1.0-9/28168342_2149240428435824_1927292931436999339_n.jpg?oh=d45ca44d0858876a973d3f2d0a2cf6b8&oe=5B19EB0A

Cleaned my seats with Croftgate Leather Cleaner and then hand rubbed in Croftgate Leather Cream liberally...and allowing it to soak in for 5 minutes.

https://scontent-ort2-1.**.fbcdn.net/v/t1.0-9/28277275_2149240498435817_1034176307644711644_n.jpg?oh=b59162e05c2564e4c7e1171dbb8d8f39&oe=5B0679B2

Some spots were pretty dry and I had to go back and add more....this is a bare hand rub, no rag or sponge..you massage the cream in. If you haven't cleaned and creamed your leather this month...last month, last fall...your over due!

You been notified....clean and moisturize your leather seats every month...they need a good UV protection, especially if you have a convertible!!!

Built a new table saw station for my job site saw and a rolling work table/out feed. Well, not all today but the last few days.

I sectioned off a 12x14 area of the garage and put down carpet tiles. I bought enough OSB and 2x4's to wall it off as storage. I already have the insulation for the walls and ceiling waiting for the wall build. Hopefully, not allowing the concrete to breathe and purchasing a AC/heat unit for this section will keep moisture out.

Busy day yesterday and not all in garage (but in and out tools):

- wired an outlet up on it’s own circuit for my wife’s autoclave (she’s a nurse)
- on my way out of furnace room, flicked the switch on the sump pump and discovered it was dead. Replaced sump pump.
- pulled grille out of Sierra to get at power steering leak. Ordered new cooler. Lines and cooler all one unit ( sheesh).
- fixed leaking side cover on 77 Kawi and took it for a spin. 3 degrees and icy driveway but still made me smile.

Cheers,

Bill

Got a little bit of work done to my 04 6.0 PSD. Front bed cross member rotted out months back so I slid in a piece of 1/4 square stock to hold it up, then with the weight of my tool box on it the floor started to give way. Took the box and bedliner out, welded in some 11ga patch panels and she don't move no more and the body lines line up! Still have a little more work. Oil pan is starting seep oil around some rust spots. #5 injector is failing......
On my friends Bobcat I did the front Crankshaft seal, repacked a lift cylinder and a few other odds and ends getting it ready for dry season.F350 rotted bed floor.jpg

Actually got to do some woodwork.. Made a start cutting joints for my central work table and did a little planning for the jack up points..

It's really hard building a work bench when you have no work bench to build it on..lol

Replaced a wheel bearing assembly on a 2005 Prius with my friend (his car). What a PIA to replace this due to the corrosion caused by an iron bearing assembly housing that fits into an aluminum steering knuckle. Almost like being welded in there. If not for my newly purchased 20 ton press we would still be out there beating and banging by hand.

The rain stopped and the sun finally came out today! Was nice in the upper 50's / low 60's so I decided to trim my rose bush down before garbage pickup tomorrow.

Swapped out the original plastic chuck for a nicer metal one on my cordless drill. That was a bear to break it loose! :)

That drill looks identical to my old Bosch. Wondering who made it.

Set up my pallet racking, now I can start getting all the crP off the floor
From moving . And get organized...
They are 10’ uprights with 11’ load beams. I picked up the beams used for $15.
And the uprights were new . But very reasonable $61.

Finished cleaning up our attached garage and put up a Zip wall. It will give my work area some protection when we use the other garage door. Now to start finishing and installing the doors and wood work in the new house.

Back when my brother was working for a hardware store, somewhere around 1970, he bought my parents a Radar Range...
330px-1971rr4.jpg

Ambenz wow that Radar Range brings back the memories. My late Grandfather used to sell and Service those things when he owned an appliance shop in the 1970s and 80’s. I remember those by the 100s as a kid playing around in that shop.

Finally got it nearly done. It runs great and rides well. The 70 pound weight loss and slimmer front tire helps handling a lot. Other than the ABS light on, it is working perfectly, even the brakes.

Video of it running at the end of the video.

i actually opened the overhead door to get the ladder out, and take down the last of the xmas lights.

while i was out there, i grabbed a broom and swept up a bunch of sawdust i made 3 weeks ago, cutting up some logs for table decorations for my niece's baby shower.

that led to trying to find the top of my bench......

which led to clearing off a couple shelves.....
filling up so more 5 gal buckets with scrap from around the bench, saw and drill press...

looked at the wasted space in the corner, and starting tearing out a shelf, throwing stuff away. and figuring out a better plan.
i know at least 1/2 of the 8ft long bench is headed for the burn pile, maybe even all of it, if i can find enough scrap laying around to make a heavy stand for the vice.
retrieved a (leftover) artist/drawing table from the basement, instead of scrapping the metal base like i intended, i cut up some scrap boards i had laying around, used them for the new top/ i'm gonna use it for my disk/belt sander instead of the flimsy base/moving dolly i'd been using for 3 years.

i had planned on loading up scrap this weekend, but around back of the garage it's still soggy, and i'd rather not have any more ruts in the yard than i do already. it dawned on me, i could take the radiators, starters and alternators, and copper down for scrap.. i hop i my truck, the tank is sitting on empty :yikes:

then i remember, kid used it when she moved out last month, no reason to put any gas in it, she dont need it anymore :shocking:

Got the chassis 95% completed, but the roller wheels and tires were really making it look bad. Even if these are junker rollers, decided to spend a couple of hours to wire brush, clean, and paint them gloss grey, cleaned up the tires, and now it's too nice for me to want to put outside until I get the body tub ready to remount. It still makes me happy to see it clean and refinished.

OH! And I replaced a light switch that controls all the LED overhead lights with an Amazon Echo compatible one.

"Alexa, turn on workshop."

I already have the Echo in the garage with a TV sound bar to play podcasts, music, streams, radio, etc. Having the lights on there is just a nice addition for $24.

I started to clean it up and get ready for a carpentry project I have to start tomorrow.
I need more space, my poor little garage is only an oversized one car :(

Painted my diff cover. What is the best way to make the fins not have paint? I tried taping off the fins and for about 30 minutes it was a debacle because the tape either would come up or I couldn't cut the tape close enough without it looking like ***. I then said f it and I will paint the whole thing and figure out how to remove the paint after.

I figured take a small sanding block or a piece of wood with sand paper on it and slowly go up and down on the fins? Ideally I'd like to make it shiny. Then I will bake it in the oven to get the paint to cure. Figured sanding it first would be easier than trying to sand it after it's cured/baked.

^^ Random orbital sander?

Rounding up a bunch of scrap metal for a trip to the recycler.
Got boxes for steel, copper, aluminum, house wire, pot metal. A water heater too.
How are scrap prices these days? They were so low last year scrap guys rarely came around. I bet I'll rake in $6 or so.

Took apart a couple of Honda automotive engine water pumps for grins. Very well engineered. Double-row NTN ball bearing, hardened shaft, spring-loaded ceramic seal plus a second seal.

Ours had a browning feature as they were made to cook turkeys and roasts! I don't even thing microwave dinners were invented...Swanson was dropping the ball! What ever happened to that browning feature anyway????
Love those nostalgic items from our past too!

Oh man, you're gonna need a whole bottle and at least a 12 pack of brew! :lol_hitti

Today, I worked on the chimera patio fireplace as the winds blew over the rotted chimney. Got another 7" round from Menards , pieced it all together with self tapping screws and painted it with gas grill paint. Sorry no pictures today.... Tomorrow, I'll see about getting pictures polishing the Ranger, with the garage doors open ....it is suppose to be 60F here, in the Chitown burbs, in February!!!! Boy are we gonna pay for all this good weather in March! I better look over the snowblower while I am at it...... :wtf:
