Re: 2018 Home Depot Clearance Thead

Stopped at the store near work and used the PCA to find freezers. That store had one, which I found, all beat to ****, and there were 5 shown to be in stock at a store near my house, location RT (racetrack I assume) Bay 3. Stopped there and searched unsuccessfully, asked a couple employees who sent me in different directions. I found a computer at a desk in the appliance section, thought that may get someone's attention, lol, and I also wanted to see if the store map showed where RT Bay 3 was... no dice. I found a couple guys in tile and asked if they knew where that location was and they were clueless. I asked them to take a look at the computer... my answer then was that they have been looking for those freezers for a while and think they were stolen. One or two off in inventory, I would have just walked out the door, but 5... mission on! I finally found them located in the overhead above the light bulbs. I bought 4, and the woman at the checkout was begging to let her have one. I told her there was another one in the store, she just needed to find it! Lol. The freezers were still stacked double with stretch wrap on pallets with their black Friday flyers. Apparently they never made it down for the Black Friday sale.

The Milwaukee M12 3 tool set just went from 200 to 100. sku 1002532602

It was on slickdeals first, and very few people found them there. Includes 2 drills and a hacksaw.

Klein tools on deal of the day. Not as good as after Christmas. Still a decent buy.

Purdy rollers are on clearance by me. Half price or less. It look like they’re switching to Wooster. :(

All of the ones in the store I mentioned were also in the rafters, in lighting/electric, with the Black Friday paper inside the wrap. No one had a clue they were $50, until I asked for my 4 to be pulled, and the guy punched the skew into the handheld. Then it was a mad scramble for employees to snag one, or call friends/family to come get one.

Hmm... I might have to go back to my store and see if one of those freezers is hiding anywhere, though inventory is zero I don't have high hopes. My store never gets *much* of any one item so inventory levels area always pretty low on the high dollar stuff. The store down in Fayetteville usually has lots more but it's real far away and its inventory level is showing zero also...

Finally got to the one store showing inventory. Was right above in overhead, facing wrong way. Sticker read 23.06, rang up 7.53. Thanks!

In the store on pca.

Probably a stupid question, but what's the PCA? Personal Checkout Aisle?

I see the term on here alot but haven't figured out the acronym. I'm sure it's simple and I'll feel stupid once I hear but....:dunno:

PCA = Price Check App

On the computers throughout the store at the top of the screen there is a "public access" section, has things like Weather, Browser, Price Check App, and a couple other things.

The PCA gives the "in store" price & available quantity for all items, it's different than using the homedepot.com website.

Unfortunately, we don't have access to those here in NY.

Do you mean they don't let you use them or?
The PCA is a public use app, as stated by Corporate Home Depot. All HD stores are corporate owned, so a manager cannot tell you no. Just use the computer, if they give you a problem call HD 800 number.

Re: 2018 Home Depot Clearance Thead

My local store just got rid of the "customer" computer. All other computers are not customer-facing. I hate trying to use one of the employee-facing computers because every time I do they get antsy. I want to keep a low profile, not argue with employees. Is there a certain way that others deal with this?

There's none for public access.

the direct approach works well for me... I just say I want to use the price check to look up a few prices, do they mind... Well over 90% of the time they say fine. If I hit that one employee who says no I just move along for the time being. My preferred spot is next to the service desk, then the pro desk, followed by appliances.

Almost everything about this is wrong:

A manager can tell you no

Never call corp saying a store won't let me use a store computer

Corp will always default to each store and their manager on what they allow

Call Corp whenever YOU feel like it, don't worry about others thinking you'll ruin it for them. The PCA app is clearly listed as being in a "Public" area of the HD environment. Don't be a total jerk about it, and don't use the PC if an employee needs to use, but ask them to explain what the "public" label means.

I like to use the computer that is by the double-glass doors heading out to the garden area near the front of the store. It's typically a low traffic area and rarely gets used by employees. Also there are typically lots of computers in the flooring & appliance area, even chairs to sit!

I'm going to have to look for that one. I got the regular one back in november I think it was when they were $20... Best money I ever spent, so handy and very solid!

The one you recommend (garden doors) is the one my store just got rid of :( I never saw employees use it, and employees never seemed to see me on it to bother me about using it.

I bought one during the Black Friday sale and I agree, it’s very handy. I’d buy another one or two but none in stock anywhere near me.

since lots of stores didn't seem to realize they came two bundled together before they put them out on the floor, don't expect the places that have the the computer showing stock to actually have any.

I've been to at least a dozen Home Depots across NY and haven't been to one with public access computers.

Sounds to me like a regional manager might have instituted his own anti-customer-access crackdown in that area.
