I have it... bought it for much the same reason you're considering it (i.e. had points expiring)... and actually like it (maybe because I didn't have high expectations). The ratcheting action works well... and the handle wasn't really as bulky as I thought it would be.

I don't turn wrenches professionally... but it's the only ratcheting screwing that's in the top of my toolbox so it gets enough use... and it hasn't broken or skipped, yet. For higher-torque applications, I will reach for something non-ratcheting... but that's not really a knock against it.

Mine was made in the USA... I got it about a year-and-a-half ago from a Sears Hardware store.

Appreciate the info btoonsis. May give it a go.

For in-store at Sears through 3/24, they're advertising $50 cashback in points on $100 or more in tools.

It's probably only at full-line stores, not smaller Hometown or Hardware type stores.

Another clarification about that 3/12-3/24 in-store cashback offer... it's not the same in all stores! Despite Doohickey's store being $50 back on $100, my local store is doing exactly the $40 back on $80 that I'd heard it would be. I found this by looking at the specific store's "Weekly Ad" in the Sears app (I haven't been able to get it to load on the regular Sears website in a while, unsure if ad-blocking side effect or some other glitch). I only checked there because the app sent out a notification this afternoon calling it a "mystery" offer (I guess because it's a surprise which version each store gets).

Get up to $100 CASHBACK in points on qualifying items sold by Sears.
Expires on 03/13/2018
Members, get $20 CASHBACK in points when you spend $20-$99.99, $50 CASHBACK in points when you spend $100-$499.99, $100 CASHBACK in points when you spend $500 or more. Excludes Drug & Grocery, Gift Cards, Land’s End, Marketplace, select home appliance items, televisions and items sold by Kmart. Offer not valid with any other offer. Purchase requirement before taxes and after other discounts and must be made in a single transaction.
Points awarded next day and valid for 7 days. Online only.

The verdict on SD is that you only get the points back once when doing this deal. (Note that today 3/13 is the last day for it [update: extended to 3/14, and now 3/17].) Several people tried placing multiple separate $20+ orders, and only received the $20 in points back on one of the orders, despite it claiming during checkout that they'd get the points on more of the orders.

2 cents short on a 15.99 36" pry bar and some hopefully NOS usa 8 pc cman screwdriver set for $12.99. I have a $9 off $20 point offer; but have to spend $20 in US currency paid to receive $20.

Hate to say it with this last change of USA to china handtools selection is almost nothing. I already have the seal puller, pick set, etc usa tools.

This is a great tire gauge if it's available near you (unavailable for shipping, and not in stock in all stores). I have the identical non-Craftsman-branded version from the original manufacturer (don't recall who offhand, might be Accutire).

I went to 'Weekly Ad' at the top, and I had ad actual or 4 Cashback offers. The tool offer for me was $40 back on $80 as well. All offers contained 'at select Sears stores' text.

Made by Accutire. But not a Sears "Store" Pickup, it is a Sears "Auto Center" Pickup. Which is a deal killer for many.

As if customer service doesn't have enough difficulty finding a promo when people complain about missing points. :wtf:

Craftsman 10" and 18" Pipe Wrenches are back on sale again, $16 and $23.

Ordered the 10" and a couple filler items I needed, to get it up to a few pennies over $25 for free shipping, then $20 back in points.

Then already have some items in the cart for the $20 in points, because I would imagine those points will have a very short fuse, maybe 7 days. So need to flip them quick.

Yep, "Points awarded next day and valid for 7 days."

It's funny how little they put the 14" pipe wrench on sale compared to the other sizes.

Bought myself the C3 Heavy Duty Impact Wrench for $159 - $59 in points = $110 w/Tax OOP + $51 FREECASH back after I pick it up...

Went to my homtown store today to pick it up, as soon as I did I got the freecash, plus I won like $7 in games last night / this morning, so I had like $58.10 in points. Bought one of the nicer older TTI C3 Hammer Drill kit 39016 that was on clearance for $84.88 - $58.10 = $29.32 w/Tax OOP...

Oh Sears, please don't go out of business till I grab that last 3-speed impact driver still sitting on the shelf.

Check to see what you need one for before you buy one. Some motorcycle tires, some lawmower, some golf cart etc tires it will not work on due it not having a hose whip on the end.

I just notice "$5 FREECASH in Points on $5 Storewide at Sears Valid Next Day" in my account. Notice that this is different than the $5 from SYW.

Oh Sears, please don't go out of business till I grab that last 3-speed impact driver still sitting on the shelf.

 that is exactly the same prayer I have every time I find something on this thread that I like to have. Please do not go out of business, just need one more item

Anyone know if it works on clearance items? And has anyone tried it more than once? The details make no mention of exclusions or a limit per member.

I don't know about the in-store cashback offer, but the online cashback offer that started the same day does work on clearance items ($33 Knipex Cobra pliers marked as clearance currently show they would give $20.33 in points [but are unavailable for shipping or pickup, at least for me, so you can't actually order those]), and the online offer is probably limited to one use per person from most people's experiences reported on SD. So I would expect the in-store offer to work on clearance too, but I'm not sure about the limit (they might want to encourage more in-store purchases by having a higher limit on those).

In the past some of the store cash back offers (often $10 back on $50) have seemed to have no limits. But I know they have tightened up the offers lately. Anyone have the points from the in store tool offer post to your account yet? It might say in the points history. I had the online offer post in my account and it says:
Bonus points - Members get $20 CASHBACK in points when you spend $20-$99.99, $50 on $100-$499.99, $100 when you spend $500+.Points awarded next day and valid for 7 days. Max 1 time per member. Online only

Good thing my $20 in Freecash off $20 disappeared, or I would have pulled the trigger on the Chinese hose. Thanks for the heads up guys!

With the $50 cashback in points, I thought I found a mega deal.
Then I saw the $226 shipping fee...

The verdict on SD is that you only get the points back once when doing this deal. (Note that today 3/13 is the last day for it [edit: extended to 3/14].) Several people tried placing multiple separate $20+ orders, and only received the $20 in points back on one of the orders, despite it claiming during checkout that they'd get the points on more of the orders.

Update for if anyone here was trying to do more than one order: After what sounds like a long argument with the overseas Shop Your Way phone reps, someone on SD convinced them to manually issue $20 in points for their second attempt at the $20 back on $20+ online order offer that had an initially-unstated limit of 1 per customer. But they had made a total of 4 such orders and were not able to convince the rep to provide points for the third and fourth orders. If you didn't already make both your first and second order before the "limit 1" text was added, and have screenshots/confirmations showing it, you are probably much less likely to be successful. Also note that causing trouble over cashback offers like this could cause reps to scrutinize your account for excuses to ban you, so cancelling the 2nd order instead would be both easier and safer.

I verified that the in-store $50 back on $100 does work on clearance, at least items ending in .97. And it is 1 per member. It says:
Max of 50,000 points/1 time per Member

I have one store in my area doing $50 back $100 and another doing $30 back $60. I'm guessing that it is the same offer and I can't double dip at the other store. If anyone finds that that is not the case, please let us know.

I am not sure how it happened, or why, but I got $30 in free cash on Wednesday and spent it on some USA Craftsman pliers and I got $30 in free cash again today which I had the wife use to pick up some clothes. All told, we purchased $74.58 worth of stuff that was on sale and paid a grand total of $14.53. Heck, I paid $2.00+ for the 3 piece pliers. Haha.

Not sure how this helps Sears, but it doesn't seem like a good way to make money.
