I picked up a Tri Power emblem and 1965 NY tag today at the Rhinebeck NY Swap Meet today. I also saw this interesting Malvese Tractor.

What is the Tri Power from? A 67 vette, 59 Eldorado or a 58 Implala. I know it isn't Mopar.

I took my son to a family ran estate sale that didn’t advertise very well. I found a few things, 1/2 metric Craftsman crown top socket set with breaker bar, an original set of Allen Head hex keys, a Speedex wire cutter set and some misc wiring supplies. My son bought a bronze 3lb hammer for his tool set. I missed out of a really nice USA bench grinder with a homemade stand for 10.00.

The guy that bought it was very nice and we talked for a minute about how you couldn’t make a stand like the one he had. A great sale, just wish I had brought more cash.

Nice but quick morning out to Jakes flea market. $14 total.
Tree pollen was high last night, so I doped up on antihistamines and took a dust mask as an extra precaution. But the wind direction change accompanying the drop in temperature seems to have been enough. Picked up a couple things, had a good breakfast with Mrs. LesserSon, and a quick trip to Walmart for some craft provisions.
My first purchase was a fiasco. Two other guys were looking over the same wrench bins and one asked if I had seen any Bonney, and the other asked if there was any Snap-on. I had just picked up the ⅜ combo and a couple Snap-on combos, plus the Indestro extension and a New Britain combo - WHY do I have a New Britain combo in my hand? I said yes, and showed them my hand. Snap-on Guy walks off, but the Bonney guy, a bit older than myself, tells me he used to have some friends that worked at Bonney. "Gone now," he says. Doesn't know why he collects it (though obviously it's to remember his friends). As I'm processing this through a haze of antihistamines, I say, "yeah, I got interested in Bonney a couple years ago..." He nods and walks off. I'm thinking I should give him this combo, since I've got another one like it at home. I think I should go buy him a coffee and ask him all he knows about the Bonney plant in Allentown, and the men who worked there. I should find out if he wants to sell his Bonney collection...
Vendor says "Five dollars," snaps a bag open. I blink, notice a Stanley Phillips head that doesn't look beyond hope, and pick it up. "I'll throw that in free," he says, which closes a synapse in my greedy reptilian brain stem, even though I don't really need anything in my hand, and so I autonomically hand him the $5, look around for the older guy. He's gone down two rows. I memorize the checked polo shirt, the neon chartreuse ball cap. I try to beat questions out of the bottom of my brain, force them to consciousness. No good. Even when I catch up to the older guy again, I've got nothing.
Heading back toward Mrs. Lesserson and the car, I spot a sharp but superficially rusted Nicholson Made in USA ******* rasp with handle. It's a bit wider than any I have at home. They want $5 but accept $4. Then I run across more Bonney and Snap-on, in the form of a 17" "Torque-ing Wrench" for Chrysler crankshaft/transmission couplings, a soft face hammer with no soft faces, and two Blue Point Supreme DOES. I pay out my last $5. That's it? Oh yeah, the women in my life raided my wallet last night before the high school dance concert. I'm broke. I see a Henry Disston & Sons butcher saw. Lovely, but a little rusted. $5. I'd do it if I had the cash. It's not pitted. Maybe Mrs. can cover it. Nope, she's just payed for breakfast. $2 left. I visit the big vises in the booth where nothing sells at eBay prices. Yep, still there a year later. Ah well. I can't make it back for two weeks. Other town yard sales to hit. Maybe I'll spot something in the meantime.

I've driven by that Daisy building in Rogers so many times. Supposedly there is a museum close by, but haven't had a chance to check it out.

I used to have that same BB gun as a kid.

It is pretty darn cool. It was a little low on power, but I have already fixed it and it appears to be as good as new!

I picked up a Tri Power emblem and 1965 NY tag today at the Rhinebeck NY Swap Meet today. I also saw this interesting Malvese Tractor.

That Malvese tractor is really cool. Did you buy it? It looks like it would be fun to take it for a spin!!

We found a few oddball items today. I've never seen a machinist vise like this before with so many positioning options. I think the nameplate is Omni Vise by Victor MFG $20:

Stihl MS170 with manual, extra chain and mix. Still has the price tag on it $40:

A couple old boat anchors and a bucket of Abalone shells $15:

Set of polished CM RHFT ratchets - $1 (Japan??)

So today was the local townwide garage sale - which is usually a yawn tool wise.

At stop #1 there were a lot of various hand tools and such scattered around and the owner wanted them gone. I saw a Milwaukee Sawzall and asked how much - he responded how much do you want to pay? I didn't answer and he threw out $20.00 and I said SOLD! It's a Model 5611 2 speed (1,700/2,400) SPM. There are some new metal blades by Rule "FIT AL" in a container and various new/used blades along with a spare blade retainer and cap screw. The "foot" is mangled but it appears to be a $4.00 part online - with massive shipping of course . . .

At stop #2 there was another bunch of stuff and an empty Kennedy Model 526 machinist chest. A potential buyer was asking prices but I didn't hear the price for the Kennedy, so when he left I asked for the price - he responded $20.00 and I said SOLD! The paint is a bit rough but it has the front panel and the keys.

I bought 2 compact umbrellas for a total of $5.00 later in the day - they are basically disposable in NYC on rainy/windy days.

Pic's are below for the Sawzall and the Kennedy.

Cheers

Jim

Finally a good find at a local moving/estate sale. I almost missed out on the grinder. A guy was asking about it, but his wife wanted to go, so he left it. $15 later and it was mine. The remainder of the stuff was another $15, including a small tube of gun lube for my dad that's not pictured.

Went to 5 sales today, all in the same suburb.
First sale was a bust, 2nd was next door and I got this phone for 10 bucks. Third sale was also a bust but on the way to the 4th which was just a disgusting house. The last one was the best. Really cool old house, got a pile of tools for 5 bucks. Pics to follow.

Hit one sale yesterday on the way home from work. Picked up a Cornwell SR-70, Wright 7/16" combo wrench and a Bluepoint RX14 7/16" flare nut wrench .Spent $10.50.

The Cornwell needs a snap ring and the washer to cover the drive gear. I hope to call Cornwell on Monday to source the parts. I looked thru my stuff and found nothing similar:(

Couple weeks ago I hit a few sales but didn't score much. One sale was promising but I showed up at lunch time just when the auction house guys were leaving :(

Then after work I hit another sale and got this :
41018068995_a21d63aa5f_c.jpg

My first Knipex pliers and a Made in USA hacksaw (no maker's mark to be found) for 3$. Also got two T12 fixtures for 15$ from this place.

Last week I was stuck at work for a volleyball tournament.

This morning hit a bunch of sales with SWMBO and only came up with this for 5$:
41018053035_67888e2fdb_c.jpg

Tecomaster Professional 3/8" drive set to go along with the 1/4" I got last year.

So today was the local townwide garage sale
Same down here in Monmouth County, Jim! But guess who was on duty! :( Didn't put any tools out. An old trundle bed, a Sears X-Cargo, a dog crate, bla bla bla. I got out very early to my flea and spotted a cast iron Reed Prentice box with lathe change gears in it, posted photos and questions here when I got back. When I went back to my flea at the end of a long, boring day, the guy was gone!

The last one was the best. Really cool old house, got a pile of tools for 5 bucks. Pics to follow.
Glad to hear it, jeff!

By the way - the funky vintage safety goggles I found yesterday turned out to be marked BELL SYSTEM! United them with that BELL SYSTEM GOGGLES L case I found last year, and posted more photos in post #29 and #30 in this thread, here.

Surprised to find these in the middle of a subdivision garage sale!
Really happy for you, Rickster. I know your change in location has put a crimp in your picking, so good for you!

Man I had a GREAT day!
I didn't hit any sales Friday because nothing looked interesting so I figured I would save my money and gas for today. There was an estate sale that started today that looked pretty good, I saw a 1950's Craftsman wrench rack on the wall in the photos. I already have the DOE and DBE and set with wrenches. but was hoping it was the harder to find combination wrench one. So I get there early and there is already a line of the "regulars". There was a few items outside of the closed garage doors so I took a look and found an old Craftsman 24" camp axe in nice shape, even still had the "Trail Tested decal on it!

So they finally open up and I make a beeline for the Craftsman wrench rack. HOLY COW it's the Combination Wrench rack I have been looking for! So I use my keychain screwdriver to pull it off of the wall.
So one of the "scroungers" that I know brings me some more Craftsman and someone else mentions I am "Mr. Craftsman". All of a sudden several people I don't even know bring me Craftsman stuff! Never had that happen before!
Then another guy mentions he has some old Craftsman tools of his dad's that he doesn't need so we exchange numbers.

Pic 1 Craftsman and Sears: The sanding pad is underlined C Craftsman and the buffing wheel adapter are big C Craftsman as are the 2 screwdrivers below them. You can see how nice the wrench rack looks too. The Sears box is for the wire wheel below it. The pliers are older without a part number and the flying "V" selector 1/4" ratchet works good but is a bit ugly. The flexible 1/4" amber colored driver is early =V= as is the 1/4'D screwdriver bit. You can also see the Craftsman name on the center of the 4 way lug wrench.

Pic 2 Craftsman and Sears: Here's the axe with the partial decal and a Crown logo box for pipe cutter, flaring tools and spring benders. I need the to clean he box's contents before pictures of the inside.

Pic 3 Craftsman and Sears: The DOE wrench set is a Sears budget seat, it has the always missing clip holder with set screw. The soldering iron is Underline C Craftsman and works!

Pic 4 Other brands:
Left side top to bottom, Stanley Defiant vise, an unknown bracket thing, maybe for a motor drive, drill brace to regular bit adapter, Bell and Howell camera lens, P&C wood handle screwdriver, hex drive nutdriver with special sockets that fit in the handle and a Yale bicycle lock with keys.
Right side top to bottom, a bunch of Snap On with 1951 and 1952 dates, old Blackhawk sockets and extension, a single husky socket and a Bridgeport Hardware crate and box tool.
Pic 5 and 6: Spotted this Coleman lantern in the box. Don't need another one but it had the base mounted "Safe" to hold extra parts and looked like it might never have been fired up. Couldn't pass it up for $5. 8 71 date code.
Spent $45 total at the sale and was happy camper!

So after that I head to the local flea market. Not much in the way of new to me tools but stopped by the boot of one of the old-timers I have bought from before. Notice this big piston and he says it is from a WWII Boeing B-29 engine. A quick google and a tape measure show it was too small to be a B-29 piston. I decide to get it anyways and offer him $15 which he takes.

After I buy it I do some more Googling on my phone and discover it is Packard built Rolls Royce Merlin V12 aircraft engine piston from WWII! the little adjustable wrench is a Keen Kutter from another vendor.

But wait there's more! After the flea market I hit a nearby estate sale for half off day.

Pic 1: Not much there but I pick these old Ames pegboard store displays which will hopefully let me get some of my stuff organized. Also got the Simple Green and antifreeze , a little vintage bed light, more pegboard hooks and an Excelite pliers for $9.50 total.

So then I go to the local brewery for a couple of beers, as I pull in I get a text and pictures from the guy with his dad's Craftsman tools. I call him and arrange to come see them right then. We kept on digging up more stuff!

Pic 2 and 3 all Craftsman: Left side top to bottom, tool box, blue case with jewelers screwdrivers, yellow Crown logo tap and drill case, Crown logo square, Crown logo small wood plane, 70's rectangular logo pocket knife, wood chisels, handsaw and Underline C logo folding metal ruler and hammer.
Right side top to bottom, Craftsman chisel and plane blade sharpening device,, =V= wrenches without part number, -V- Allen wrenches and a 70's logo 50 foot tape measure.

After that I went back to the brewery for a couple of drinks before I headed home to unload.
