Not sure if this qualifies as "old" but I still want to share. Finally got it running after it had some worn out bearings and bend spindle. 1980's Rockwell 15-350
Oh yeah! That qualifies. Not as old as some, but it's 30+ years old already. And it's definitely cool. X2Oh yeah! That qualifies. Not as old as some, but it's 30+ years old already. And it's definitely cool.

1950's Atlas 1020 bench top in line for a few repairs and a new paint job.
If anyone has a suggestion on how to patch the missing piece of the belt guard, I'm all ears.
Mike
And for milling I'm end milling at a 1/8 pass.

Yeah cr, But maybe it's working for him?Go right ahead. No sense listening to the advice of others on here that are trying to help you.![]()

Guess the worst it could do is ruin the bearing(s) right?
There was a Thread at OWWM (IIRC) about different bearings for a delta drill press, that were sufficient for light milling.

Think they came with a motor like this.So this Dunlap arrived at my house today, pretty happy about it. Any way to tell if the motor is original? Most likely not?

Yeah, no clue, but I'm still happy about this dp . is the pulley supposed to do this?
See if there are screws on the side of the head, that go in and tighten down on the bearings, (I think they contact the bearings) may be loose.I don't think its an issue, but get on Frank Lee's Craftsman DP thread. (that is probably equivalent to the Craftsman 80 DP)

WOW!I currently have well over 100 so if you are looking for parts, I may be able to help.
Oh, OK thanks well that changes things I have a Power King Conehead drill press that uses the sleeve bearings but I never did anything with them. They were supposedly replaced by a machine shop when the previous owner had it I'll have to get a picture of it later it's pretty cool it's kind of a had to have sort of thing but then when I got there it was smaller than I thought but I brought it anyways but really I'm kind of running out of room I may sell it. Right now I have four drill pressesI believe the Dunlop version has sleeve bearings instead of ball. Might be the oroblem

This is my old Walker Turner 900 series. It's a little dusty but love this old tank.
That's a sleeve-bearing motor & usually used in a horizontal mounting!Any way to tell if the motor is original?
Really nice drill press. Is the table lift a Walker Turner part? Would love to find one of those.
Yes. I don't know that the handle is original but the unit is Walker Turner, I believe.

Times Two. Cool looking too!Great drill press!
Great drill press!
I'd really like to find a deal on a smallish Mill, vertical bench-top.Listen to what 454ragtop said: Drill presses are Not milling machines. It has been tried by a number of folks before. There are all sorts of things to consider, and that will go wrong.
Even if you get a MT2 end mill holder, you have no way to hold it in the taper. Side pressure from milling will work it loose and it Will fall out.
That drill press spindle won't run true enough for milling anyway.
