The roof drainage turned out great. You will love it. I can't believe how nice it is to have everything underground and not have to deal with above ground drainage and especially moving those damn flexible tubes when mowing.

Thanks for stopping by Mike . I'm really liking the effects for sure, wish I'd done years ago.

Agreed. I wish I would have done it at my last home. I spent 26+ years moving those flexible things around twice a week to mow lawns and still had drainage issues, besides they looked terrible. I'm sure glad I put in the extra effort now so no more having to look at them nor deal with the pooling of water any longer.:bounce:

Finally was able to get the new building slab formed this week.

I’m putting in a 18 x25 to help relieve the shop. Permit almost ready, hope to pour with next two weeks.

I bought PT for the forms so I could use the wood after slab is poured, man those 2x12x16' boards are the heaviest I can remember moving around in a long time. I think I'll use balsa wood next time.

It’s getting there. I’ll be happy to be done with the dirt work!

Craig, you are a glutton for punishment setting forms in this heat...! I just did a little 2’ x 3m pad and I was worn out. How come this work never seems to line up in the fall? It is looking great and think about how many more Listas you will be able to buy!

I don’t think I can really buy anymore, there’s 4 waiting to get inside now!!!

It was brutal for sure getting it done in this heat, but I need to get it poured. From the time slab is in and I notify building co, it’ll be three weeks before they show up.

I’ll be glad when the dirt work is done.

Graded out most of slab , cut off by our daily thunderstorms. I finalized the elevations for the surrounding sidewalks.
I set the shed slab 7” above the shop floor, after the 5” deep floor soaking that happened during Irma. The difference posed a little challenge blending the porch slab with the new sidewalks to shed.
The green paint will be the edges of concrete.

Basically the existing porch slab in front of shop will extend out about 14’ maintaining the same slope away from building, the walk to door of shed will slope down to this as will the walk in between the two buildings.

Area between buildings, will slope toward shed and drain into a deck o drain along shed slab.

Slab grading and compacting

Finish grading and get some conduits and drain pipes in, I’ll be real close ready for concrete.

I’ll be excited when that building shows up, still 3 weeks from when I let them know concrete is done till they show up.
Going to try and get poured in a week.

I’ll be real happy when all concrete is done and weather can’t affect that part anymore.

Spose to have permit Monday, that’s been the real holdup.

Today's update. Completed grading and compacting, finish conduit run into slab, just need to turn up stubs.

Half dead from heat exhaustion, no rain so got a full day's work in, but it was hot. If you don't hear from me, come look in the dirt, I'm sure that's where I'll be.

60881bbc46f361561ab5e4a115b1291d.jpg
I ran the conduits under footer as I’m out of allowable bends and I had to dig footer anyway.

No permit after I was told Friday it should be issued on Monday.

Screw it, called my county commissioner, of course he's gone for the day.

His clerk seemed interested in helping me.

See what happens.

Is there a program on GJ to bail people out of jail over permit issues like AAA has for driving infractions?:lol_hitti

Excuse after excuse. Next will be waiting on concrete. LOL.

I bet you’re as excited as Gerard and that other guy being in the van with those 4 babes.

That ***** would of been poured back in May if not for permit.

Been a long haul, glad to get the area "cemented in". It'll let me release the building and that'll be the crowning moment!

Everything is scheduled, even got a morning pour, which is a feat down here right now.

May try for the second pour the next day, the balance of the sidewalks.

I guess my exicitment matches Gerards ton for ton:lol_hitti

Inspection tomorrow. It’s ready to pour, mostly. I need to form some of the sidewalk up to take advantage of a full 10 CY pour.

Footers cut and ready for plastic.

Hotter than inside Gerards trailer with those 4 women!

I pour on Friday. I think I’ll sleep on slab Friday night!

Did I mention I’m tired of digging.

I do enjoy concrete work but it's one of those jobs where you can't quit until the pour is done, regardless of how tired you are or how much you wish you could finish it tomorrow.

That's why I'm hiring a finisher to help out. I'd never make it by myself on this size right now.:lol_hitti

Going to pour at 9:00 am, so we'll be out of the sun drinking beer or crumpled up in a pile by noonish.

Craig, congratulations on the inspection.

Obviously your inspector has not visited the Garage Journal. My first replay to 90% of the threads on here would be "I see why you are [or you should be] putting up a shed."

Thanks Bob. Over all the years I’ve been dealing with inspectors all over the state, a large % of my interactions with them go this way.

This gave me a chuckle, it’s a piece of 2” galvanized pipe I came across digging footer out. It’s from me, just a piece that the ground reclaimed.

Finally, I have a big flat rock next to shop.
Took about 40 min to pump out 10 yards.
