So, the Knipex pliers I ordered earlier this week arrived ahead of schedule (ship to home).... the bad news is, they were shipped by a random Sears store rather than the manufacturer/distributor, in a flimsy mailer that got badly torn up, doing major damage to the pliers handles. You guys with more Knipex experience, have you ever had one arrive damaged before? If contacting Knipex directly would get me a replacement without having to pay shipping, I'd trust them more than Sears to ship the replacement properly protected... but I'm afraid I may have to deal with Sears...

Sears will probably tell you to keep the damaged ones though...

If the hose pinch pliers were shippable earlier, they aren't anymore... that went quick!

Mine always get shipped in a box. Sometimes it has enough paddings, other time just rattle around but never damaged. This is after ordering about 15 of various knipex pliers. Sorry to hear that...

Thanks for the reply. Real bad luck for my first Knipex order, but maybe they won't repeat the mistake. I guess I'll try chat later this afternoon and see what Sears says.

For the record, the Sears in Independence, Missouri is the ones who screwed this up. :p

I'm quite surprised your are a Knipex virgin, at least through Sears. I've been so happy replacing some of my lesser quality pliers, and adding others I would have never bought.

After reading all of these Knipex posts, and rarely finding anything anymore to spend points on, I think I'm ready to jump in. The first thing I saw are the Knipex screw extractors, anyone have any experience with them? I gave up trying to extract a long time ago and usually just drill and re-tap. It would be great if these actually worked.

I have about $200 in points to spend, and then I may take a break from Sears. I always thought the frustration was worth the reward, but I'm about done. When I am charged more than what was on the screen when I placed my order, (almost $40 more) and I only placed the order to take advantage of the $125 in points, and then not receiving my points, and being told just to refuse shipment of my order when I called and "chatted"... twice. I know it has been said many times, but totally understand why the ship is sinking! When the ship is going down, you don't throw the people who are bailing out the water overboard!

I haven't yet run out of things I want to get from Sears that I don't have at all, so I'm not to the point of upgrading still-adequate-enough pliers yet, but maybe someday. ;) Especially with the ship-to-home hurdle on all Knipex, at least in my region. I wanted these in particular for various reasons, and (like I mentioned on Monday when I made this order) would love to have Pliers Wrenches but haven't been able to make the prices/offers/points work out well enough for me on any of those yet.

Sorry, perhaps not the proper forum for this, but I think many of us could benefit from the information. 2manytools, and anyone else who has a Knipex collection, can you give us a list of the Knipex you use the most?

A few months back we were talking about the relative popularity/usefulness of the different sizes of Knipex Pliers Wrenches, so that seems fine to me. :) (Found it: https://www.garagejournal.com/forum/showthread.php?p=7107409&highlight=knipex#post7107409 )
And longer ago than that, there was a guy who'd bought just about every Knipex model Sears carries, who posted a 'group photo' of them all...

Sears chat says they will send me a free replacement, BTW. Hopefully shipped from a different, more competent location.

10" pliers wrench, 10" cobra (I ended up with VDE model for no good reason other than I use points), 6-1/2 cable shears, end nippers. If I had the chance, I'd get another 7" cobra or so. Also got a pair of mini-bolt cutters, but haven't used yet. Probably a little to small for most things, and I already have Irwin NWS side cutters. I also got some odd-ball flat-faced, but curved ends pliers. They have come on handy, but not as great of investment overall.

My next large ticket item I have my eye on is the Wera Stainless Steel 12 piece set, that or pick up the ones I'm missing from my 6-piece on Amazon. Love the laser tips. I also have both the regular & torx set of Wera demo screw drivers, that I also recommend.

That's what I usually search for on the search spin game. Oh, another sweet tool, the 1/2", well that's usually the cheapest, Wera Zyklop ratchet.

Oh very nice  I do not own any Wera yet

I usually just do a search for GearWrench for the spin game. If I am going to win something might as well win something fancy :lol_hitti

These rarely seem to go on sale:

Craftsman 5 pc. Mini Torx Screwdriver Set - $9.99

https://www.sears.com/craftsman-5-pc-mini-torx-screwdriver-set/p-00941105000P

They are a Hot Buy... so coupons won't work (if anyone still has any)... but the $4 in FreeCash that came with this morning's Weekly Sweeps e-mail would (assuming you spent another $15.01).

These were also on sale:

Craftsman 6 Pc Jewelers Screwdriver Set - $8.49

https://www.sears.com/craftsman-6-pc-screwdriver-set-jewelers/p-00941106000P

I hadn't been following them so I don't know if they ever go lower... but added them to help reach the $25 mark to use the $4 in FreeCash.

If you don't mind the "wobble-plus" type of feature on these:

Craftsman 4 pc. 3/8" Wobble Extension Bar Set $6.99

Hot Buy tag is blocking coupon codes.

prod_1894136612

Or you can just use universals:

Craftsman 3 pc. Universal Joint Set $7.89

I haven't looked at these in-store in a long time, but you may want to check the store to see if they have remaining USA stock from WF.

$19.99 online sale ($18 if you can use the 10% off coupon code FIREWORK on its last day today 7/8, if you don't have other coupons/offers); $39.99 regularly

This is a nice set in a nice case, just needs some velcro or rubber bands to help hold some of the pliers closed so they don't pop out when you open it. This is almost as low as it usually goes, I got it for $16 in January but rarely see it even 50% off.

Hey man, that's not the purpose of this thread. Not to mention I posted one 2 days ago since it was going to go to waste anyway.

Yes, Sears has stopped giving decent offers/coupons to most people for the past several weeks. But you should probably stop asking for coupons here. That kind of stuff has caused a lot of controversy in other threads recently, and I don't want to see this thread get dragged into that.

Fine, do we have any separate threads for coupons?

You sound like an entitled brat. You used a shared coupon while asking for more, and reported an "issue" with syw because you're not constantly getting worthy coupons?

I'm still getting coupons. I had a lull for about 2 weeks, then all of my recent orders have had 10/40 all, 7/35 tool coupons. I have a theory that it is has to do with the fact that I am not making $0 OOP purchases, I always spent $1 on each order. Buddy of mine that does Loss Prevention told me years ago that $0 transactions are the quickest way to draw attention to your activity.

Can't hurt to try, but FWIW my last 3 orders all had a buck or two OOP, and even some people paying entirely OOP have reported getting no coupons/offers on that purchase recently. :dunno: Sears is just baffling.

The mini pliers set is already back up to $30 the very next day. The Permanex 'truck box' storage boxes Doohickey posted yesterday are still on sale, though.

While Stanley is dominating the garden tools at my store, I noticed Irwin (also SBD) is moving in over by the clamps.

Online, I see this new Craftsman plastic tool box, but can't order it just yet. I spot "Made in China" in the pic, so maybe the Israeli-made box supplied by Keter are on their way out.

Strange new design, seems like more squared corners/edges would be more practical than having those diagonal cut-ins.

The latch looks comparatively big to the tool-box itself. Making up for a lack of space inside?

This Flexzilla hose dropped off the Sears site right after I bought one a couple weeks ago, and wish I had bought more after receiving. While looking at my order history toay, the image of the item became a link again (no link a couple days after I ordered) and it is on sale again!, lower than any other retailer. This hose lead is the best I've come across. So much better than the $2 clearanced ones at HD that have all came apart on me.

Just ordered 4 more & this Powertech latch to just hit free shipping, though I had the option to ship-to-store on the hose, but sick of driving to Sears (not exactly "close" anymore)

What's the use of a 3' Garden hose? I'm not quite getting this?

Usually referred to as a lead-in hose, as it usually used to attach something else that would add too much strain at the bib (garden hose) connection. I have drip irrigation setup on one of my spigots, and I can guarantee one or more of the sediment filter, chlorine filter, line splitter, or timer would break due to the strain. So I run the Flexzilla to the filters, then I moved one of the kink-free portions off this splitter to go into the splitter, then one into the timer. It is not advised to connect multiple hard-line devices. You should have something to provide flex in-between the devices, or you will often end up with a leak or break.

A lot of lead-in hoses are not rated for constant pressure, and usually have cheap crimped ends that come out under pressure. The Flexzilla is.

I also use them on very low to the ground spigots, to make it easier to connect to. Also have one off the splitter in my earlier explanation for easy filling up of buckets or whatever, as the splitter is laying on the ground.
