I decided to order this today:

Craftsman CM 39454 Magnetic Aluminum Level, 24" (Red)
https://www.sears.com/craftsman-cm-39454-mag-alum-level-24/p-00939454000P
$15.30 sale, $20.99 regularly
prod_16381688612

I was eyeing the matching 48" level a few weeks ago but then it jumped back up in price (still on sale but much less of a sale). This one wasn't on sale at all until recently. I'll get the 48" too if I see it back down to $19.99ish at an appropriate time again.

Pretty sure they're both made for Craftsman by Johnson Level.

No, what did it say? Haven't seen a Sears review-to-earn-points promotion in years (and sadly I failed to take advantage of it back when it was a thing, thinking I'd get around to it eventually until it quietly went away).

Nice price on a nice looking level. The 24” shows $19.52 for me this morning.

I have the red 2' and 4' Craftsman versions, and the black 6' Johnson version. All made in USA by Johnson, all great.

Oh, glad I jumped on that when I did, then!

I picked mine up today. Finish has some imperfections (most clearly from the factory, under the red anodizing), but nothing major, unnoticeable at arm's length. I managed to drop the darn thing on the tile floor in my entryway when I got home, but I don't think there's a single mark on the level that wasn't already there, and no damage to the bubbles. So I would avoid testing that further if at all possible, but it seems durable. :)

Curious what time of day you saw this and pulled the trigger? I’ll browse something in the AM and price has increased by late afternoon/evening.

I posted shortly after completing the order. I was browsing around in the ~6-8pm CT range.

Not really a deal, but fyi. If there is anything you want to buy, may want to jump on it. The end maybe nearer than what most of us think? I still think they will last until end of the year, but what do I know...

https://money.cnn.com/2018/09/13/news/companies/sears-earnings-missed-deadline/index.html

EDIT: I have about $60 worth of points that expires next year that I am saving to see what kind of end of year sale they have. I may change my mind and use them now :headscrat I do like to think that if it is over tomorrow, I have everything that I need (still plenty of things that I want :) )

Kind of funny how Sears is sinking into the ground, yet their "brand names" seem to be worth a buttload with other companies offering hundreds of millions for them...

That kind of says a lot about upper management if they aren't able to make a profit with said popular names (Craftsman, Kenmore, DieHard), yet other companies are...

I am guessing that when one buy the brand names, it also come with the patents, copyrights, contracts, etc. That is where the real value is. I image the name Craftsman still carry some weight - maybe not a whole lot here at GJ, but to the general public, it probably still have good brand recognition. It is whole lot harder to start a tool line (or any business) with some unknown name.

They are making a profit, they are separating and selling the profitable pieces and will eventually take a "loss" (write offs) on when they are done.

That is @Kmart only.
Prices on some things are inflated a lot so research.

https://www.kmart.com/tools/b-23417...tagLabel=Tools Top Sellers&adcell=hp_tools_cb
And Kmart doesn't sell many of the tools that Sears does. Even though it's listed on Kmart.com, you have to make sure it's also 'sold by Kmart', because buying 'sold by Sears' items on Kmart.com won't qualify for Kmart-specific offers like that.

Also note that Kmart does not do price matching (to other retailers, including Sears) or price protection (for later price drops) at all. Very different from Sears policies.

Well... it is the truth right? :lol_hitti

Sears has been playing on the 'trick customers into thinking we're going out of business soon' marketing for a while, lol. Garish red/yellow bold-text sales signs, and handwritten discount tags, are part of that. They don't do it all the time, but these have been in regular rotation at not-closing-yet stores for months. Trying to get that sales boost that real liquidation sales usually get from clueless people rushing to buy stuff before it's at a good discount. Apparently it hasn't been fooling enough people, though. ;)

All of my local Sears stores have closed, so everything I order from Sears I pick up at Kmart. I think Kmart can sell anything on the Sears site.

Yeah, but what person hasn't heard of all the various names SBD already owns? Even the most basic homeowner has heard of DeWalt or Stanley or Black & Decker or Bosch or Porter Cable...

I think they are just playing on the times when people feel the need to buy something 'new' and 'different' always...

Or Irwin. But SBD doesn't own Bosch.

But as I explained in the rest of my reply, many of the tools you can buy on Kmart.com are actually "Sold by Sears" and won't count for promos like the one being discussed. Kmart and Sears both have many, but not all, of their products cross-listed on each other's website like this.

I just pulled the trigger on the "Spend $200, Get $200 Back" deal... and noticed a few items priced at exactly $200, in case someone else is considering and wants to avoid finding fillers:

Craftsman 35098 50cc 2-Cycle 20” Gas Chainsaw - $200

https://www.sears.com/craftsman-50-cc-20inch-gas-chain-saw-case/p-07135098000P

Craftsman 10" Single Bevel Sliding Compound Miter Saw - $200

https://www.sears.com/craftsman-10inch-single-bevel-sliding-compound-miter-saw/p-00921237000P

Craftsman 3/4 hp Belt Drive Smart Garage Door Opener with Wi-Fi Connectivity - $200

https://www.sears.com/craftsman-57915-3-4-horsepower-ultra/p-00957915000P

Craftsman 450 pc. Mechanic's Tool Set - $200

https://www.sears.com/craftsman-450-piece-mechanic-s-tool-set/p-A010318153

Craftsman 289 pc. Mechanic's Tool Set with 3-Drawer Chest - $200

https://www.sears.com/craftsman-289pc-mechanics-tool-set-w-3-drawer/p-00933158000P

You can also use the RMN $20 off $150 coupon... add another item(s) that costs $20+... and you'd still get the $200 back (over 6 months).

Is that better than the Craftsman 48" level? I have been looking at both of them

-The Great
Right now the Johnson one costs about $8 less. Both have excellent reviews. I bought the Johnson. BTW, today when I search at Sears.com the Craftsman 48” doesn’t come up. But Google still finds it.

https://www.sears.com/craftsman-48-...ellerId=SEARS&prdNo=1&blockNo=1&blockType=G1#

The Johnson 48" product page on Sears.com has the wrong photo, it's clearly from a shorter level. Here is the correct product photo, from which you can see that it is identical to the Craftsman version (which are made by Johnson), except for the color and what name is embossed on the end-caps. I'm holding out for the price to drop again on the Craftsman version so it will match the 24" one I just bought, but otherwise there's no reason not to get this one. :)

Go figure I was looking at the 78pc impact socket set yesterday at $148 and now today they offer the $50 back deal but the socket set went up by $50 to $198 so it's not really a good deal anymore.

What do you guys add to orders to round up? I'm looking to pick up the 5" vice for 59.99 I have 9 dollars in points & a ten dollar off coupon. So in order to get the 50 back i need to find a under 10 dollar purchase. Any suggestions.
