It all depends on how much space and budget you have. The best "middle of the road" bargain in my view is a used Craftsman belt drive contractors model with a cast iron table, with the regular belt replaced with a linked belt.

Im looking to get a table saw, have never owned one before.. would mostly be used in garage or driveway, for woodworking /furniture projects
sometimes inside when im renovating parts of my house.

What do you guys recommend? I already have the Dewalt Sliding miter saw DWS780 & stand. So I was looking at Dewalt table saws like this, but Im open to other brands.

32" rip with rolling stand
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00F2CGXGG/?tag=atomicindus08-20

24" rip with stand
https://www.homedepot.com/p/DEWALT-...H=REC-_-rv_search_plp_rr-_-NA-_-303207818-_-N

i bought the 32" saw you listed it rocks.

it is a power house and really portable it the closes thing to a portable cabinet saw that i could find

I bought an old Craftsman on Kijiji for under $100. It was simple to clean and adjust and has made lots of sawdust in the Can-Am Garage. I put it on casters so I can roll it to the door and send the dust outside if I want.

The Dewalt w/ rack & pinion is by far the most popular jobsite saw for a reason. Its accurate, portable, and withstands abuse. They have been producing very high-end cabinetry all over the country.

Personally I wouldnt compromise with a contractor saw, either go jobsite or full cabinet.

Word! That would always be my recommendation.

Dont overlook the Delta Unisaws. I have a delta 3 horse unisaw with 52'' fence and I LOVE it. Given the choice, yes, I would have gotten the powermatic, but I got the Delta for $750 in excellent condition when it was just a few years old.

Sawstops are nice, but wow they are pricey$$$

mostly plywood, like making some cabinets or whatnot..
basically need an all around performer.. this is a secondary hobby after wrenching on cars, i need everything to be somewhat easily movable

A contractor saw with a mobile base would be my choice if in your shoes.

So the saw showed up and it has some issue, the table is not flat, the "wings" ? are about 1/16-1/8" lower on the end then the middle of the table.. tested with a few straight edges. Also the fence was a little dinged up and not aligned properly.

Amazon is sending me a replacement, how flat can I expect the table top to be? And how much would that affect my cuts be true? I know its not a $5000 saw, but its should be good quality for the money feel.

does your dewalt have any noticeable deviation in the table flatness ? or pretty dead on?

I bought a Bosch 4100-10 then sold the “too heavy” gravity rise stand. It is also too big when folded. I often take my table saw on the road when working on projects and have to lift it into the back of my Ridgeline.
Pluses of this saw are the soft start feature. No jerking to life spinning a 10 inch blade. Sliding fence system opening to 24 inches allowing ripping down of sheet goods accurately. Although the design when closed is narrow like a 12” capacity saw. Brilliant and accurate. Easy install saw guard and riving knife (essential).

The rolling stand I built puts it at a height just above a standard folding plastic 3’ x 8’ table making a perfect out feed table. Easy to transport and setup at home or outside at the worksite.

I bought the Bosch and believe it will be the last table saw I ever own. A joy to use!

I teach carpentry adult ed, where they now have a SawStop table saw. The full size cabinet saw has all these features plus the safety factor. The portable version, not so sure.

your throat plate is not sticking up is it ?///

no its pretty much level, maybe a little low.. still have the same problem if i measure not near the plate

I went to home depot & checked out some of the table saws they had.. ryobi was similar issue with flatness.. one of the ridgids was near perfect flatness & so was the bosch.. the smaller dewalt model they had also was not flat

all were the portable/ contracts type saws

I have seen even unisaw and heard about pm66 with potato chip tops, not that it's the norm for them. Maybe a good reason to buy local armed with a straight edge.

3rd one form lowes had the same issue.. Dewalt told me to take it to a service center, i have no idea what they would do to fix it besides replacing the top, assuming they have flat ones laying around.

Im really considering returning this one & just going with a cast iron top delta 36-725 or Ridgid R4512.. price is about the same, less mobility but they look like nicer saws

Are these single piece tables or three piece with two wings?

If the latter it isn't uncommon for them to be flared up or down. I've shimmed these with masking tape.

Deception- I was ready to buy the Dewalt DWE7491RS this weekend at Lowe’s with their sale price plus I also have a 10% off coupon. I work on flipping houses and projects at home so a good portable saw was part of my criteria. I also took a look at the newer Hitachi C10RJ which seems to get pretty good reviews especially for the price, however I also found quite a few posts talking about pieces breaking and long waits for backordered replacement parts. The Dewalt seems to get glowing reviews as one of the best jobsite table saws and $470 plus another 10% off seems like a great price for this saw. I hope I can find one with a flat table. Can you post a picture of yours?

heres a few pics showing how the table is not flat, seems almost like its raised in the middle section causing the straight edge to now lie flat.. ive tried this with several different rulers, level & combi squares.

Will this affect the cuts much? I dont know, but for 5-600 bucks i expect better, i could buy a cheap laminate countertop at lowes thats flatter than this

I was doing a big onsite job (judge's paneling and built in cabinets) several years ago and thought about buying a portable saw. I looked at all the usual suspects and by far the best of them was the Bosch.

This was maybe 8 years ago or so and I don't know if the Bosch has the same quality and features now, but it'd be worth a look. A difference of a hundred bucks or so spread out over the time you intend to use the tool is not much.

Best of luck in your search.
