Thanks everyone for sending up the flares about the latest Sears financials.

I just spent my points on an easy-to-resell item. This is my thought process:

  • If Sears files bankruptcy and the points disappear, I'll won't have lost mine. I can sell the item and get cash for more tools.
  • If Sears files bankruptcy and loses their resellers (for good stuff like Knipex, etc.), I'll sell the item and have cash to buy elsewhere.
  • If Sears points don't go away, I can return the item unopened and get my points back to buy more stuff.

Anybody have thoughts on this cart? Seems small, but I have a small garage and it might be handy for organizing all the small **** piling up on my bench:

https://www.sears.com/international-21inch-5-drawer-roller-cabinet-red/p-00948268000P?rrec=true#

If it's really small ****, I've gotten a few of these with the Weekly Sweeps e-mail Freecash:

https://www.sears.com/stanley-stst60761-parts-organizer-with-fasteners/p-00977447000P

At first, I bought them to use up points... but now I find them pretty handy.

I'd mostly be using it for storing sanding blocks and paper, dremel and assorted accessories, and the various attachments for my multi-tool, but I don't really need a dedicated cart for all that. I'll see what the shipping costs and if it's cheap I'll probably snag it. If it's not up to shop duty I can always use some extra storage in my office as well.

EDIT: Shipping is $116 for me. Nope, nopenopenope. Thanks for the quick replies gentlemen!

Talked to a Sears rep today and asked about SYW points and if they will be valid after they file bankruptcy later this week.....he said I need to talk to SYW about that.... :( Not a good sign. I used $44 in points today, still have $88 left plus the monthly residual.

-The Great

The Sears/SYW people that we can communicate with (whether chat, email, phone, or in-store) all don't know any more than we do about the future of the SYW program or the company as a whole. This is all in the hands of a small number of high-up managers at this point, and they have not revealed that kind of information to anybody yet. The suspense is agonizing, I know. ;) Get those $88 spent if you can... Knipex would take care of that pretty quick.

https://www.sears.com/flexzilla-legacy-manufacturing-flexzilla-174-garden-hose-whip/p-07172420000P ? If you select Sears as the seller (much higher-priced third-party sellers come up first), it is now in Temporarily Unavailable mode... same thing for their full-length hoses. Looks like Flexzilla has cut off Sears until they catch up on payments.

FWIW i asked a chat rep if they could ship it any way other than freight like ship to store and of course they couldnt, but best they agreed to was to offer a 26" CM home series 4 or 5 drawer for a 'similar' price.

i kept saying, 'nah i cant do that' and they kept dropping the price down, finally taking like $30 off the $107 sale price. at that point i could have used points or freecash (rep able, of course) but the kicker is that the CM could be shipped to store for free. in the end i decided against it, even though it would have qualified for the last $75/75. didnt want to get another $75 OOP into them.

anyway, YMMV but its worth a shot for the price

I'm in the same boat as many of you I imagine. I have $26.00 in points sitting in one account and $29 and change in another. Somebody figure out what to drop it on. I can't find much that I have a need or use for.

I bought a set of the craftsman cobalt bits, on sale for $30 or so, also a craftsman professional wire stripper for $16, nothing spectacular, but not bad with a coupon too.

Yikes, that was fast. Sun Joe items were available as "Sold by Sears" this morning, but not anymore.

There seems to be a common theme with the recent SPG International tool cabinet deals: High shipping charge, and no ball bearing drawer slides.

The Sears cart is reportedly having trouble applying points to orders tonight, FYI. They've had these random malfunctions periodically, just really bad timing.

I wasn't holding my breath with a 20-day ETA, but I got my confirmation today as well.

That reminds me about the thread restore kit I've been waiting on since July. Probably should cancel now, so I still have a chance to use the points. It was one item I really would like to have, and know I'd use it.

Just an FYI for anyone looking to redeem a large amount of points...

I pulled the trigger on two separate $300 orders over the last couple of days. Yesterday, I ordered a miter saw and stand for just over $300 and used the $35 off $300 coupon available on Sears.com that I had previously 'clipped' into my account...

Then, this morning, I got some patio furniture for the boss... which, conveniently, came out to $300.**... and Sears let me 'clip' and apply the same coupon, again.

Not advocating panic point dumping... but keep using the same coupons until they won't let you.

I did also, coming truck freight because of size is what the confirmation said. Carrier will contact you to arrange delivery.
truck freight? on a little 19" toolbox?

also remember places like Retail Me Not that has a 35 off 300 and cash back as well

I used this week's weekly sweeps e-mail's Surprise Points to buy jumper cables... but got an out-of-stock email the next day.

I contacted Sears via Chat about another canceled order... no reason was given in that e-mail... and I was a little concerned with all that's going on. The rep said the items were out-of-stock... but to contact them next week to see if they're back in stock. When I asked about the coupon I used... she said they'd manually deduct it if I ran into an issue applying it.

I asked them about the jumper cable order... how my 'regular' points were refunded but not my surprise points... and she refunded those, too, as regular points.

The whole process took about 5 minutes... so it might be worth a try... even with all the uncertainty.

Actually already did that and got the $5 credited. Going to the local Sears later to see if there is anything left in-store, before using all points up this week. Though did come across a couple Knipex pliers, of course, with some price matching possibilities. Might try to get a Flexzilla 1/2" hose to make myself feel more confident when blowing irrigation systems out, hopefully it was just the FZ whip hose that was unorderable.

Between my wife and I, we used up all of our points today. Not sure if Sears going to go chapter 11 or 7 or whatever, I just hope our order got thru. It was ~$70 worth of points between both of us. I was going to wait until end of year, but do not want a risk losing them.

Anybody else have issues signing into your sears account to make a purchase? No access for 2-3 days

Wheel just spins and spins on cell phone with/and without WiFi connection.

Reset password and still no luck.

I can get into account via SYW website.
I can get in on a desktop.

Thanks

As of today (Thu 10/11/18), reportedly:
- UPS shipments are still being shipped out.
- The third-party trucking service Sears uses to move products from warehouses to stores has suspended service, won't be making tomorrow's deliveries.
- All tire deliveries have also stopped. Any outstanding tire orders must be fulfilled from on-hand inventory or cancelled.
- Mattress deliveries have also stopped.
- Sears Optical optometrists, who process credit card payments for their services on a Sears register, have stopped receiving the money owed to them from Sears.
- The third-party gift cards previously offered in Sears stores have been taken down this afternoon.
- The financial negotiations have not been going well. Eddie is now considering buying the parts of Sears he wants in a bankruptcy auction, instead of doing it now to delay bankruptcy. It seems the rest of the board is still refusing to sell to him pre-bankruptcy even if it hastens the demise of the company; he's had offers in front of them for months.

Ahh I have a few items for pick up at local store that has pick up date tomorrow. I guess I probably won’t be getting these.

Craftsman 2.5 in. Hose Pinch Off Tool - $19.99

I think these have been unavailable for a while.

Did you have it shipped? Unavailable for me.

Yup, free shipping. Shipped today and is supposed to be delivered tommorrow. Both Sears and UPS emailed me that it's arriving on Friday. Also Those pinch off tools are almost always available for me. I have a pair and very high quality. They are the exact same pair as the $65 Mac tools ones, just with Craftsman name slapped on them

Guess I need to cancel my thread restore kit, and order something else. I'm rying to chat, but it's a 60min wait for existing orders. Hopefully the new order reps can help me, that's only a 3 min wait. :D

I already have 2 sets myself. I just know that they frequently became unavailable after we all realized how nice of a tool they were. If you don't have a pair yet, it would be something decent to consider using up points on

Well burned through the remaining $377 in points I had. I'll have to deal with chat tomorrow morning on price matching every knipex item i bought , which will give me back about 75 that I'll turn around and use on more knipex.

Then I need to see about having an order cancelled or changed to another local store that has it in stock.

roll your clock back to before 11:30 PM and you can chat. You may want to do that tonight when almost no one is chatting (since Sears closes the chat based on your PC, even though the reps are there 24 hours). I could see longer than normal times during the coming days

and we may have all jumped the gun, according to my rep tonight. I was concerned that 3-5 business days might be too long for my cancellation. Then sent a link about the impending crossroad.

his response
That is a fake news. Please ignore that. . Our results are improving and we believe that we have the resources to meet our obligations, both financially and to support you, our member.

We are aware of this issue. However, it is a false advertisement. We have closed few stores due to various other reasons.

You shouldn’t be concerned. Sears, as well as any other company that sells service contracts, is legally required to meet certain regulatory requirements designed to provide adequate resources to fulfill service contracts into the future.

No worries there! :shocking: I explained this isn't politics, and is actual news being reported by multiple news outlets.

MY DUDE!!! that clock rollback is freaking genius...I had to roll it back a whole day and a few hours and it works.....I can't even express how happy this made me. The rep is even moving my delayed router bit set order to a store that has it instock! Wish I could buy you a bear!

The clamps work great. I wiped my store out multiple times. I use the little ones for building blanket forts with my kid, and the big ones around the woodshop.
