Great finds, guys. After my unproductive outing yesterday, I gave some attentiin to the 8” Westcott S-adjustable I had picked up recently. At first, I didn’t think the pin was going to come out, but it did, making degunking and derusting the keyway a lot easier. Now I am emboldened to go back for the $5 12incher. Weather permitting!
Comparing the keyways, the Westcott has the most complex one, the Barcalo has a square one, and the Bonney has a round one, which seems to have become the standard form in the later straight-handled “Crescent” style wrenches. I think it would be interesting to discover which manufacturer first adopted the cylindrical keyway for adjustables. (Have to do a lot more research before making any conclusion.) It seems the most economical to produce, having the least fit issues.

Comparing the keyways...
Very interesting observations, LS.

GREAT scores Lugz!
Good Luck with the dog!
Thanks. Even if I managed to convince CINCHOUSE we could take her, behaviorally, she is all white, and sheds like mad. I think it's a no.

Here are some links to GJ threads with more photos of my finds...

Belknap Bluegrass hammer

WINCHESTER hand axe

Blackhawk Freewheeling Ratchet

Roebling ALLIGATOR

And for those who don't like links, just a few shots...

Hey Guys, great to see the thread still going and the old players still playing!

I needed to be away for a while to do some other things and let my addiction to rusty gold fade down a bit.

That said, I've still been hitting the yard, garage, and estate sales, and the thrifts and pawn shops, but at a much reduced pace. I've also decided I can't personally save every piece of rusty gold, and don't need any more projects.

BUT... when they are selling Indestro as if it was Taiwan, you've just got to step up.

Here's to a great start on 2019!

I wasn't buying this weekend...nope...I was going to do house chores (clean oven, mop/polish floors,etc.)...I was going to list some things on Gumtree and "MAKE" some money!

Welllllll :withstupi I did all the above and whilst posting things on Gumtree spotted a JOB LOT of tools for £20 just 3 miles down the road.

Enter MAN MATHS! :wtf:
75 tools for £20 equals £0.26p per tool...BARGIN!!!

Got the load home and sifted through it all ditching the worst tat (knackered wire brushes, MIC needle files, etc.) and was left with 50 good tools, £0.40p per tool..still a deal.

>Various UK stamped die holders
>Starrett hole saw
>Hatchet its Made in Taiwan ...but going to clean and sharpen this up for my mate who needs an effective tool to dispatch half dead squirrels that his cats bring him! Even a Taiwan hatchet can manage that! :D

Picked it up at an estate sale today. There were no sockets but the ratchet action is pretty smooth.

3 x Stanley type 99E of various age
1 x Stanley type 199A fixed blade
1 x KING FULLER fixed blade
1 x MIC Stanley copy

With about 30 spare blades! (there were several plastic utility knives but these were binned)

Also thought I'd give you a close up on the KANGAROO BRAND logo on that mortise gauge. :) DSC_1278.jpgView attachment 869583

Found this Craftsman 103.23900 6" jointer with pedalstal mount listed on FB marketplace. When I went to check it out the guy was cleaning out his grandfather's old garage and I ended up with a few other items too! Columbian 4" vise, Craftsman V wrenches, old Craftsman tool box, ammo case, etc.

Moving sale on Saturday. I looked like some urban commercial "farmers" were packing up their hydrophonics to move to someplace with more room for their now-legal crop!

Shark-Bite Pex crimper for solid bands, 1/2" and 3/4" sizes.
Arrow pop rivet tool.
Irwin 3/4" auger bit
Finger grabber.
Clamp type multi-meter that works!
Milwaukee #9 step drill no wear.
Brand new flap wheel
Buss mini fuse kit.

All for $5.00. :bounce:

Almost didn't stop at this place on my way home but my bladder was screaming so decided to kill two birds with one stone. Glad I did! Everything pictured for 325. I know the Nugget set is missing at least a few pieces but not many. Had I been an hour earlier I'd have left with a Long C top chest that was in nearly immaculate condition. It was still sitting on the floor taunting me waiting for the buyer to pick it up. Chrome Vanadium adjustable wrench, 4 Cman wrench racks (1 with Crown logo which I hadn't seen before), Long C punch set missing one, Long C drill index and a Long C wrench case that is going to need a full refurb but no dents and nothing more than surface rust. Glad I had to take a leak.

bmw, yes it was. I went an hour early, and it was worth it.

One booth had a couple of Pebble combos, 1-1/4 and 1-3/8, kind of rough for $25.00 each. I passed. There was a box with seven or eight Mac screwdrivers like the one you bought priced at $20.00, but I left that behind as well.

Your plate was full this weekend anyway! Nice picks!

I like that flea, I always seem to pick up radio key thingys. I am not sure what they are called, but I keep telling myself that I am going to learn Morse code.

Can some tell me approximately how old this W & M Co ratchet from England?
The ratchet is the Tuttle patent (1,426,127), granted August 15, 1922, and assigned to Frank Mossberg Company. The meaning of the “W. & M. Co.” marking is not known, although I have a few theories I have yet to publish on my 'Early Roaring 20's' thread. They were commonly found in some Mossberg socket sets, in the Sears, Roebuck & Co. Aristocrat socket set, and in one-off socket sets, almost always with handles also marked with W/M logos and Mossberg sockets. What do you mean by "from England"? They were made in the US. Did you buy it from someone in England?

Thanks Lugz. My mistake about the England reference. I look forward to seeing if I can find some sockets for it if it ever stops snowing here in the Northeast.

Around here has been pretty dead, but a buddy texted me about this on CL. Couldn't find a listing in the catalog, which makes sense when I saw the date. Full of stuff, some useful, some junk. Will inventory later. Figure I have almost half of what I paid in extras to sell, so ended up well within what I like to spend on these.IMG_20190303_161414940.jpgIMG_20190303_161403732.jpg

So I get a text this afternoon from a guy I bought a stove from over two years ago saying he has a lantern and 2 more stoves if I'm interested. the Lantern is a pristine 200A from 1961. Original box, lit probably once...

We dicker on the lantern a but and he convinces me to make the near 20 mile trip to see what else this estate clean-out has. Its not really a sale yet. this is "first pickers" as they are sorting out! :bounce: I was the second guy in! :rocker:

The lantern was a given and the small 1-1/2 car garage had a 3 car garage tacked onto the back! 2 Model T's in a corner and STACKS to stuff EVERYWHERE! (I would LOVE to have this shop... Needs cleaned out and finished, but...)

There is 2-3 generations of collecting stored here! The family has owned the place for almost 65 years!

Not everything is for sale and I wanted to only get things I wanted, I could have bought for resale and done well...So just a hint of what was there:

The lantern of course, a 1961 "Burg" for about a year and an half Coleman used a darker red that has been dubbed "burgundy" by the collectors - Highly sought after!

And an up-capped can of fuel (seal is intact):

attachment.php

Flying A oil and a lighter fluid can, Machinists jack, Powder measure for shotguns, (1 oz shot, 2-1/2 Drams powder), a Yale/Navy lock, 50 cal brush, and a claw type hatchet head (not sure it its marked I need to de-rust it...)

JEFF Alert! the lock has a 4 digit code on the bottom - think its a key code? its a push lock.

attachment.php

WWII M1 Ammo can,

attachment.php

An EARLY Kenwood Tube Stereo receiver - Hopefully nothing is blown... (careful fire up for this one!)

attachment.php

And something from my past - I'm 90% certain I had a pair of these toy guns when I was about 5. there is family a pic of me floating around, in hat, holsters, guns in both hands, I think even chaps, holding both pistols out.

Those guns and holsters in the box are great! Is there much of a collector following for that? I'm sure new in original package there is.

I was VERY tempted BB, but I'm wrapped up in too many largish projects right now, and just didn't want further interruption. The rain is bad enough!

Super cool gun and holster. I saved many a fair maiden in my childhood mowing down ne'er-do-wells with one of those. I wonder if they still sell the paper roll caps for those?

It's 7/16 drive. I'm wanting to get into that guys shop so bad my teeth hurt. I walked away from a lot of Long C stuff once that nugget set reared its head. It was late in the day, the seller was ready to go home and I only had so much cash in my pocket. Going back next weekend and I'll be ready. The sellers prices are fair. He's not giving it away but not requiring the buyer to open a vein either.

Thanks guys! I went looking for caps a couple of years ago, and found nothing for roll or the stick on singles. There were some of the plastic ones that came later in the 70's and 80's but by then toy guns were politically incorrect toys for children...
