2014 was the last year Craftsman released new models. Stuff like the Brushless Drill, the Bluetooth Radio and Stereo, etc came out that year and no new models have been released since. I'm not saying they stopped production at that point, just that nothing new has been added to the line. There was once about 40 unique tools, there's currently about 7 or so left in stores. The few basic tools left may still be in production in China because of whatever contracts Sears signed with TTI/Ryobi and Chervon, but C3 has been on phase out since I think Aug 2017.

I kind of stopped following Sears months ago after the hometown store closed in my area, and while I agree no "new / improved" C3 things have come out in quite some time, it looked like Sears flipped back from Chervon to TTI on their existing drills and such.

They just seem to keep the basics: drill, driver, circular saw, recip saw, flashlight...

There's a few other odds & ends you might find, but by this point in time it's typically just NOS...

I'd still like to know your source of information, since it does not seem accurate. I can confirm they have released new products since 2014, I have seen, bought, and own them.

FWIW, the SYW site is showing 47 C3 tools currently available in my area. Judging by the "added" dates, it appears the garden tools (string trimmer, hedge trimmer, grass trimmer, sprayer) are among the more recent introductions.

Recent press releases from SHC also indicate they will be introducing more C3 tools as well.

I don't know when they last released anything good or WOW... but I can tell you their 19.2V line now have very very limited selections and bundled tools.. and a lot of the tools I used to see are discontinued... only few selection left. Not exactly a warm and fuzzy feeling for this line of tools... :( unfortunately I have a lot of them.

Got a link? if so, that's good news because I too started switching over to the ryobi line some time ago for any 'new' tools I needed.

My older C3 tools are still going strong so those will only be replaced as they die or as my C3 batteries become expensive or impossible to source.

Same here, only I began investing in m12 and m18 about five years ago. I still frequently use my C3 tools enough to continue investing in batteries, but I see all Milwaukee eventually. Hopefully that will be a few years off! I actually have more Milwaukee already, but I love the C3 tools that I have.

Those lawn tools came out when I worked for Sears nearly 8 years ago. What in the world are you looking at????

I'm not sure what in the world you are looking at, but you have some seriously incorrect information. As rickhigginshtbr said, all of those lawn and garden tools you mentioned are 10 years old. I have owned them all for years and still use them. They have all now been long discontinued. Here are the links. Notice they are all "Out of Stock" and have been for years:

It's cheap to have batteries rebuilt. The local battery center here will put 2.5ah or 3ah cells in packs for $40 for the slim 5-cell packs and $80 for the 10-cell double packs. Any battery center will do that. And if one wanted to use the plain old 1.5 and 2.0 Ah cells that came in XCP packs from Sears out of the box, it would be even cheaper. Most 18650 cells are cheap these days. That's why I plan on keeping using my C3 stuff until I die. Batteries can always be rebuilt, and if a discontinued tool itself ever dies, a replacement is a few clicks away on eBay.

As I posted in the message you quoted, the SYW site and SHC press releases.

The message he quoted of yours did not contain any links of in stock C3 tools or links of SHC press releases of all these supposed new C3 tools you talk about.

The message he quoted of yours did not contain any links of in stock C3 tools or links of SHC press releases of all these supposed new C3 tools you talk about.

As Jalopy_J mentioned, your post did not contain any actual links to anything.

Below is the Sears Holding Company (SHC) website, where they put up all the news about new products, what is happening with the company, and other business news.

I just did a search of the site, using words like "C3", "Cordless", "Cordless tools", "C3 Cordless" and stuff like that. The only thing that comes up is the information about the upcoming, and recently released line of Craftsman 20V tools. Nothing came up at all about the C3 line of older tools.

Here is the link for the Sears Holding Company website:

https://searsholdings.com/press-releases

The part you are referring to, about what is shown as "In Stock" on the Shop You Way (SYW) website, are not new C3 tools that are coming out.

What that is the old stock of C3 tools that your local Sears stores may still currently have. This is not an indication that Sears is putting out new C3 tools. It is just the tools that are still available around your location.

I can find this by putting in my zip code into the Sears website, the Craftsman Club website, the SYW website, and the Kmart website. I still see a few C3 tools available in my area. But most of them say "Out of stock", or in stock for local pickup only when I hit the "Search other locations".

I wish they were making more C3 tools, as I would love to buy more for my collection. But the only ones I can find are either used ones on eBay, on my local Craigs List, or here on the GJ in the for sale forum.

Perhaps you are not aware that stock status is based on the buyer's location. Thanks for the links that confirm "in stock" in this area.

If you have any links that say there are new C3 tools being put out, please post an actual link to a story about new C3 tools. Or, please let us know your zip code so we can input that into any of the websites related to Craftsman tools so we can see the stock they have available at your local stores, and see if they offer shipping to home.

Thanks!

Jim

Well, there was (sort of) one new tool that has been released in the last few years.

THIS:

https://www.ebay.com/itm/Craftsman-...963011&hash=item443ac221f4:g:wxoAAOSwwKhcrjuG

That is the CR2007 trimmer. Not the normal CR2000 trimmer that Sears sold for years that we all have. It was supposed to be released, but never quite made it. It was never listed on the Sears website, and never had nationwide distribution. There are, however, a couple floating around though. Maybe there was a couple stores that got one before Sears/TTI got into their legal spat, or maybe these are prototypes/pre-production or something. I'm not sure. This is only the second one listed on eBay ever. The seller doesn't sound like he knows what he has, so it might go cheap. The first seller awhile back did know and he got like $150 or something for it. The interesting thing about that tool, is that it is the only C3 tool to ever get the newer Craftsman "C" logo.

Also note that since the seller doesn't know what he has, his information on it is incorrect. Most of the information he copied and pasted is for the common CR2000 trimmer.

I just stop by to the store again and check, definitely no new 19.2V C3 in stock, but one interesting thing they have the red craftsman freshly in stock and a new bundle red craftsman in stock (I think it was a drill, saw-all, light thing)... that one I haven't seen before...

Unfortunately that doesn’t run off C3 batteries though. It requires its own different battery and charger. It’s hard to find a c3 sprayer people aren’t asking $200+ for.

My local Sears has a growing number of the 20V options on the shelf. I have seen a drill, impact driver, hammer drill, recip saw, and circular saw all sold individually and a combo off the drill, both saws, a light, and an impact driver that are regularly on sale around the $200-ish mark. C3 is dead there, pretty much the batteries and chargers is the only thing left.

This. I have a handful of the 19.3 stuff, drill, rt angle drill, brad nailer, flashlight, impact driver, recip. I need to grab a couple more batteries, but I can always have them rebuilt. Tempted to grab one of those DeWalt 20v to c3 adapters off ebay though.

I have moved to DeWalt's 20v max series for the sake of brushless power and ongoing support.

I like my little C3 impact driver better than my DeWalt though - ergos are better, even if it is non-brushless and has less torque.

Has anyone here had any experience with the 6ah or 5ah 19.2v generic lion batteries from Amazon or Ebay? I've had my lion batteries for nearly a decade and I've noticed the compact models don't have as long of a run time any more. I really don't want to spend $40 for the 1.3 ah and would like to get a couple more of the higher capacity models.

I was just using that battery yesterday and thinking it's not as good as the OEM ones, but then I realized I was using it in the angle grinder which seems to really eat battery life. The ebay battery runs forever in my drills or impact driver, so yeah, I'm happy with it.

I use my 2.6 a/hr batteries on the shop vac which has okay life but the batteries are pushing ten years old. I'd like something with longer battery life without having to spend $80+ on one battery.

Which OEM battery have you used on your angle grinder?

Considering unloading my Craftsman setup. Would it be worth posting on here? I'd like to see GJ guys get some use out of it, rather than mess with eBay.
Unsure if it's worth it, I may just start building up a 12v line of smaller tools until I'm ready to make an 18-20v jump.
Worth selling, or keep as a set in another location (basement shop vs garage)?

Most but not all of them:

ALL my cordless tools are Craftsman C3. I started buying in 2005 and have been buying ever since. VERY, VERY happy with them. Just bought the chain saw off eBay! Very happy with that.

I have six or seven NiCad batteries. Most won't hold (more likely won't take) a charge. I have two of the original Li-Ion batteries. One seems fine, the other will take a charge but the multi-chemistry charger says its defective.

So ... educate me on taking the batteries to the battery store to have them recelled.

Is it limited to NiCad to NiCad? Or can an older NiCad be upgraded to a Li-Ion (that will be recognized as a Ni-Ion battery in the multi-chemistry charger).

Or should I simply go to a Sears HomeTown store and buy the second generation Li-Ion batteries and be done with it?

Very happy with the C3 tools. Adequate power for my hobbyist interests and activities. One style battery that interchangeable between all the tools. (I got to other guys shops and see anywhere from three to five different chargers and an array of different batteries sitting there ... at which point I'm very happy I went with C3 from the beginning.)

Please enlighten me. Thanks!

PS: If Craftsman's new owner is phasing out the C3 line for the 20volt Craftsman and the batteries are NOT interchangeable, I think that's a huge mistake.

As has been mentioned, the XCP lithium packs cannot be beat. Your tools will have a lot more power with XCP than with the old Ni-Cads. You just need to have a dual-chemistry charger to charger them. The old, black cube Ni-Cd one won't work. XCP packs can be purchased new affordably off eBay.

I'm eyeing that angle grinder and inflator. I missed out on the two that were on clearance at my soon-to-be-closed local store.

Can others comment on their experience with the Knock off Lion 19.2V battery's on eBay? It would be good to hear a few more experience. It is a great price right now and they have the gauge which is important on the Lion batteries as they die with out any warning.
