bmw That 1929 Stanley tools catalog is super cool!!! I'm envious! There's at least 1 SW plane in the group I bought today and posted about just below your finds.

Interesting Swedish adjustable wrench. Similar in concept to the Craftsman one. For $1 I thought it was interesting.

Very interesting! That, and even moreso the CRAFTSMAN, remind me of the Neff Adjust-A-Box wrench. You can see a thread on that subject linked here. Eskilstuna, Sweden is akin to Cleveland, Ohio, or Trenton, NJ, or somewhere like that. It was a huge tool manufacturing center. I found a pair of E.A Berg pliers earlier this year, and they were established in Eskilstuna, as well, eventually bought out by Bahco. Berg's success spawned all kinds of copycats and consolidation there. That Garage Sale thread post is linked here. Nice find.

Found today on FB Marketplace. Of course missing the 17mm and 19mm. I've looked on Ebay but hoping to find some more reasonably priced options.

Picked up this WWII mosquito netting (for a fold up cot), a WWII officer's swagger stick, and some curiosity buy 25 cents each type wrenches at my flea market this morning.

Lugz, got a contract Q for you - What would "contract w1307 QM 2999 PO SS-2611 REQ QM 1307-2082-43"

Be for? I'm guessing 1943, but can you get to the company/object?

Its on a box, and the claim is its the original box for the 1940's lantern that its used to store. I disbelieve that as I don't think the army ever used that base model in question. (The lantern also shows no military markings...) I think the box was re purposed...

No luck, Outlaw. It doesn't match any Coleman, Dietz, or Bernz contracts in the MWSC books, either. Got any other OEM names for me to look up? That's the extent of my vintage lantern, torch, and burner maker knowledge.

Nothing life changing, but the price was right.
Stamped steel work bench legs and 8' cross brace...just needs a new top. This was FREE out of the scrap hopper at work.

My workbench started out the same way, except it cost $40 for 4 lets and 2 braces at a "has to go" garage sale.

I still feel like I got a great deal.

Laundry room converted into a workspace.
Just picked these up today for $20 off letgo. They look like they went ten rounds with Cassius but they are fixable and they have good bones. I will say this the kra58D feels like it's 3 times heavier than the kra53 I got about a week ago. I know it has more drawers so it should be heavier but this feels like the walls are a lot heavier gauge steel.f0578f2f82bc35e35efe9288f562f251.jpg

Today's Flea Finds...

1920 Vlchek and K-D valve lifters, a Vaughan & Bushnell ball-pein with original handle, a Ford wrench for a tool buddy care package, an Ortlieb's Beer can opener (old - nearly as old as Yuengling, venerated Philly brewery), a J.P. Twaddell's shoelace tightening tool, and two items of tool ephemera: a Cleveland Twist Drill drill speed wheel and a little S.W. CARD wooden box (probably had small taps or reamers, originally.)

I was actually an early bird for the first time. $40. thought it was a steal. Now I am regretting it. some drawers are tough to open. One drawer where it holds the slide is cut, and the slide on the other side is damaged. One drawer on the bottom does not open at all.

I've done that more times than I care to mention - Leap before I look. But live and learn. Or not! (in my case) :lol_hitti

You're not into it for too much. Maybe you can still recoup your investment.

went to a digging sale today, made two rounds and got a lot of SK and Proto including a nearly complete set of metric sockets. It looked like it was going to be a good sale, but I wasn't willing to get there early and stake out a top position and many tools were gone. In the ad there were 3 machinist boxes ,but they were gone when I got there an hour after the sale opened. Also sold, but not pictured(or it would have motivated me a bit) was a 1hp Craftsman Block Grinder. Not sure what it went for,was tagged SOLD, to be picked up later. It was the first one in the wild I've seen.Enough about what I didn't buy.
I did buy quite a few Sk/SK wayne sockets,Proto sockets, Electrolite wrenches,PowrKraft wrench and socket, few Snap On Sockets, Misc Craftsman,Stanley etc. I also(not pictured) paper calenders from 1925,26 and 27 from Larry's Auto. I hope to recycle these into current years where they fit.

Actually, it's a button hook from when shoes had buttons!
Even better! Thanks, Duds, and good to see you.

This really stretches the scope of the thread, but when I was doing some research on J.P. Twaddell, I ran into this paragraph and I really got a kick out of it. Read the yellow highlight.

Can you imagine a time when a trade journal would have writing that reached this level of creativity and mindfulness with this fine a balance of opprobrium and alacrity? So formal and yet so funy! Can you imagine when people in business had this level of discourse with each other? It reads more like a passage from my Mark Twain collection than a bit in some shoe industry stringer's Philly update!

These days, we're lucky if we get words with more than two syllables in them.

Two sales today while out doing errands, 1 yielded some small tools, Plomb extensions, Craftsman wrenches including 2 -10mm!!
2nd stop thanks to Outlaws freebie earlier this week got 8.5oz of sterling silver, 13 oz of silver plate and misc stainless serving pieces for less than a combo meal at McDonalds. I've got a couple sales tomorrow with some silver flatware ,maybe under the radar, and can then look at options to sell.

Hit a few sales today, the first being good, and the rest ether a waste of time or junk.
So, without further ado:

Mostly ratchets and extensions; across the top a Craftsman -V- and a PowrKraft, and then from left to right, Proto LA, Proto Pro extension, Snap-on flextension, Pennens breaker bar, SK 45170 beavertail, Blue Point DOE, P&C unplated extension, oddly marked WF ratchet and a Plomb ignition wrench. Sixteen bucks in all.

Stopped at a sale tonight after picking up
the little one from daycare. Was advertised as “lots of tools-Craftsman/household items”

Showed up 30 min early by accident, waited in the car until the wife came out and asked if we’d like to go inside.

As soon as we do. Here come two trucks down the street, pull in, out jumps two guys who make a bee line for the garage. They had the whole place cleaned out in under 10 min.

Unfortunately I wasn’t able to look everything through like I had hoped but still managed to grab a few scores.

Craftsman 1/2” drive SAE 7/16-1 1/8 12pt set, 9-36mm 12pt set, ratchet, breaker bar, 3,6,10in extensions and a swivel.

Various screwdrivers, didn’t have a P4 before, now I do.

3, 12” USA crescents from WRIGHT, DIAMALLOY and crescent.

A cute little 6” crescent from Bergman tool mfg co.

A set of MM USA craftsman line wrenches.

6,15,17,18,18,22,22 12pt USA combo wrenches

13MM BLACKHAWK Long combo

Proto brake spoon

Craftsman tap handle

Crowntop toolbox with the tray

Box of 3 1/2 deck screws

And my favorite purchase of the day a 1988 Coleman steel belted 80qt cooler

Just a quick grab this morning before I got on the road for work.

From a small CL Estate sale ad, I picked up this 1/2 drive SO breaker bar and a 3/8”,1/2” CM ratchet, all these plus some misc cut off wheels for $15.
2bd3a860a54a4c9f36ba287e84978c88.jpg

I love this style of the SO grips. The ratchets I keep glancing at, I really don’t need any ratchets, but out of habit I picked up the 3/8 and spun it, it’s a fine tooth and so smooth. Then I couldn’t leave it’s big brother there!

Pretty good day today.

Photo #1.
It started out slowly, with just four items.
Starrett tape measure
P&C 1/2" deep socket
Snap-On 1/2" combo
manifold for air hoses
$3.00 total.

Photo #2.
Quick Links
Barcalo 3/8x7/16 offset DBE
Snap-On 020 offset screwdriver.
$6.00 total.

Photo #3.
This sale had started Thursday, so it had been picked over somewhat. I did find
an older 1/2" drive speeder
C32 Craftsman 1" socket
P&C 7/16" socket
Cincinatti Tool Company #54 Super Jr. C-clamp "Heat Treated"
Plomb 3026 DOE 1/2x9/16
Blue Point feeler gauge
KD 291 Brake Bleeder Wrench DBE 1/4x3/8
Wiring pliers
Flush Cut angled sice cutters
Stamped pliers. LODI patented Sept. 25, 1894
P&C #76 punch
Long-C DBE 5/8x11/16
Vlchek DBE WBM 2422 5/8x11/16
Vlchek DBE WBM 2428 3/4x7/8
Vlchek DBE WBM 3032 15/16x1
$10.00 total.

My wife suggested I check out Stop #4, which did not advertise tools. It produced:
1/2" drive sockets:
Plomb 1"
New Britain 1-1/16"
Wright 1-1/8"
SW 1-1/8"
STW 1-1/4"
SK 3/4" deep

Plomb 5285 3/8 T-handle
Plomb 5262 Extension
Plomb 3025 DOE 7/16x1/2
Plomb 1122 DBE 3/8x7/16
Plomb Pebble DOE 3021 3/8x7/16
Plomb Pebble DOE 3027 1/2x19/32
Proto Professional 11/32 combo
Snap-On 7/16 combo
Snap-On 9/16 combo
Craftsman 3/8 to 1/4 adapter
"Alligator" stubby screwdriver, hollow-ground straight slot
Stinger pin for a receiver hitch

Photo #5 is more from Stop #4:
Powr-Kraft 1/2" drive set -
ratchet (Wright?)
6" extension
Sockets from 7/16 to 7/8, missing the 5/8.

Stop #4 cost me $10.00, total.

Photo #6 are the SW and STW sockets. They are obviously from the same manufacturer, and the markings seem to be from different eras.

I find the LODI pliers interesting. They are similar to the Sargent parallel-jaw pliers, but are not parallel-jaw.

The "Alligator screwdriver caught my eye because of the hollow-ground tip.

I rarely see Snap-On items at reasonable prices. Today was an exception.

CB I went from my dad's 24 T Proto, to that same pair of Craftsman RHFT, ratchets at 90T eraly in HS! I didn't know at the time they were the FT design, but I've used them for decades and still have them. (and a bunch more...)

They may not have the panache of SO, but they are great work horse ratchets!
