Garage security patrol, Olive and Bullitt. Smart dogs but not particularly helpful in any way.

I can't see your pic, but I like the name Bullitt, and then saw you own a Terminator. Awesome!

My garage buddy. Technically her name is 'Zora', but her nickname is just Doug. If you have seen the Pixar movie 'Up', you'll understand. She is half golden retriever, half lab, 100% clown. She is my shadow every second I'm home.

Well last year in March we lost our springer spaniel mix Rocky at 17 years old and 9 months later we lost our 2nd springer pure bred Ricky at 15 years old 2 days after Christmas. Well in April we got a 6 year old Beagle named Cooper from Humane Society and last month we got a 5 year old Springer Spaniel named Jordan from the Springer rescue. So our 5 year old Llasha Apso Bo has 2 new playmates to join me in the garage.

my 11 yr old Siberian Husky passed 2 yrs ago from a grand mall sieziur. We didnt really know if we were ready for another dog, we still had her run-in buddy Camillia, a 10 yr old Austraian Sheppard.Camillia was getting some hip problems and walked more than she ran.We figured introducing a new pup wouldn't set well with her because inspite of her disability, she was still the queen of the pack (even though the pack was reduced to our black barn cat, and her).About a month later I had another heart attack that ened up with a single bypass and a valve job.I was sent home to recover, but living on the ranch was not a good idea,I couldn't stay down and rest, plus winter was coming and the snow removal is a serious task here. The doctors recommended we should move in town and not worry about the snow removal. We had a house in Delta ,Ohio that was vacant and only 4 miles down the road from our youngest son.It has 2 garages but it di`dnt matter,I was only leaving the house for what seemed like endless Dr apptmts. In September,Camillia had a stroke that caused her to lose the function of her rear legs and had to be euthanized. In October,I woke up one morning and couldn't control my rt leg.We knew it was a stroke and the emts hauled me off to the hospital in Toledo.I was 85% plugged in the left side of my neckThey ran me down to a or and tried to do a triple bypass in my neck,But they didnt know about the 5 cages and rods that are in my neck.So more incisions were made further forward on my neck and the arteries bypassed. But of course it couldn't be that easy.I had 2 iv's in my rt arm and 2days later they started seeping.the next day when the doc looked at them they were seriously infected, there was a puss and blood filled bump at the insertion point.Long story short,I had a .So it was blood borne infection that was moving up my arm to my heart. They ended up removing 2 arteries and all the "dead flesh"surrounding them between my wrist and elbow. There was a 1/2" wide x 3/4" trench in my forearms where all this was done.It needed to be opened up,scrapped clean and repacked with antibiotics 2 times a day.The concern was that if the infection reached my heart, school was out.My hand was black from the infection and they said if it was still black the next day it likely would have to come off.It was kind of interesting what happened thenThe black areas turned yellow and started to clear up, but my arms were growing huge red and yellow blisters that looked strangely like the ones I got on my leg from a rattler bite in 1970.The pt people got involved with my leg, getting it to move with some controlled in a few days I could hobble around with a walker.I was therefor 3 weeks,I had to stay until the until the "Grand Canyon" as I called it had closed up satisfactorily that I could go home.I had pt people at the house that would come every other day and work with me on control of my leg.So it was December when the blisters quit dripping (really!) and I could walk 400'.That was the point where the mobile-home care people would cut me off and I would go to a rehab center 3 days a week and work on things. At this point I was really frustrated, both dogs were gone and the cat didnt like me.I was getting real tired of daytime tv and wanted another dog.I was researching breeds and breeders and decided I wanted to try a GSD (German Sheppard dog) I located a breeder in Grayling mi,only about 30 miles east of the northern ranch! She bred from Eastern European Stock, all her dogs were titled and registered. It was the wrong time of year to have any pupsbecause she only bred in summer. She did have 1pup that was born aug 3 that she wanted to keep because she came out of a ***** that was actually bred in Latvia and then imported (by her). She was exactly what I wanted, long coat/red/black/ female. After a bit of literally begging het to sell her,she relented and I agreed to be up on the week end.I was able to drive now and I wanted to check out our house and the buildings anyway.Well,I bought her,put her in the jeep and back we came!Rode perfectly 300 miles back without a stop! When we got back we signed up for a 2 week obedience school. She didnt do too good there, she has serious socialization issues, she acts like she wants to rip off the head off any other dog She is so strong that I,with my rt leg that doesn't work right, cant hold her, she just pulls me over and down.I talked to Michelle ,(the breeder)and she agreed to take her back and give her some intense training. So any way I took her back last Thursday and now we wait and see.I have a couple pics I took 2 weeks ago and I will put them up now.So, if you are still reading all this, here's Precious! Well the computer wont upload it,i will try something else.

Nine years ago today we rescued Pepper from the local SPCA - she's a great dog (Plott Hound) and fantastic around the family.

We discovered she had a pretty hard life. She has a bullet lodged in her hip, she has a huge scar around her neck, and she's had a busted jaw. All before we got her when she was about 2. Despite all this, she's a trusting and gentle friend...

This is Zena or as she's commonly referred to Baby Girl. She was always kind of my dog but since I retired 5 years ago she is constantly up my ****. If I'm at home you can bet she's not more than a couple feet away from me at all times.

I JUST facilitated the rescue of this pretty girl. 3 year old German Shepherd, already spayed and vaccinated. Her name is Coco and she's described as very mellow. The owner is kinda broken up about giving her away but landlord won't allow him to keep her and he can't afford to move again. He's had her since a pup.

Owner's wife emailed a co-worker who is the girlfriend of my nephew. He forwarded to me cause he knows I'm a total slob for dogs. I sent it on to my sister and other nephews and one will pick her up this Saturday at the halfway point about 125 miles away from L.A. She'd BETTER be mellow because he already has a small Pomeranian and his dog and his brother's dogs(3) are frequently with his mom's (my sister) dogs(3). 8 dogs in all! All females too!

Anyway, here's Coco, Gentlemen.

I've HEARD that skunks with their scent sacks removed (yeah, cruel I guess) can make very good pets. That they'll use a sand box like a cat.

Personally, I only see that being done if a baby skunk is abandoned by its mother or its mother is killed somehow and it HAS TO be raised by a human.

He'd make a terrific guard dog - comes with his own chemical weapons. :D

I released the skunk on the other side of the river last Friday. This morning a DJ on radio is talking about how he was surprised to see a skunk swimming across the Kam River. That's about 600' across! I assumed they could swim but I hope the heck it was not the same skunk on his way back to the 'hood.

I occasionally see moose swimming across river. Watched a moose swim a mile to island we were on, 100 yards from shore he sensed us and swam to another island.

Well, as promised Olive arrived safe & sound here on September 10th. After a few tense minutes of introduction to Pickles (pictured above) she started to settle in.

Obvious dog stuff followed - toy confusion (it seems sharing must be learned), curiosity, dominance decisions and the always fun "what is that thing doing in my house, on my couch watching my TV with my pack?"

Mrs Outlander brought her to the garage to visit (I got yelled at for having the compressor on as it scared Olive), she was excited to see me and peed on the floor. Aww... sniff, sniff. Good thing she pees a tablespoon and not a litre like Pickles!

Anyways, a couple of pictures for you. Hopefully garage photos soon. Not sure Pickles has embraced how "cute" Olive is by the look on his face :lol_hitti

Ever seen deer cross a lake? Your first time and you say "wtf" out loud.

One night about dusk, years ago, following a buddy back to our marina, his 39' boat took a hard left, so I did the same. Expecting a log or something caught his attention and then over the radio I hear "DID YOU SEE ALL THOSE EFFIN DEER!?!"

Must have been a dozen or more swimming across the river.
