The disadvantage of a set, is that the market is flooded with shall we say, low quality versions.
You really need two types. A quality cable style. Astro, Mayhew, and others have them. when picking a pair, look at the locking mechanism. You want one with multiple teeth like a saw blade. This allows you to lock the clamp in different positions. Whereas, the ones with the single hook only allow you to lock in a single position which requires you to use your hand pressure if you want anything else.
The second type looks like a pair of slip joint pliers with thick jaws.

Do not confuse these with the old round corbin hose clamps. These have grooves in the jaws for flat band style clamps. AST offers them and they are rebadged by more than a couple of tool trucks.
