I’m calling Shenanigans: that’s TARS and CASE from Interstellar. I can’t believe they sold for such a low price. Better be careful; I hear those former USMC tactical ‘bots can be tricky to reprogram.

Sorry, guys. Yes, a joke.
Film allusion...(Do you speak Bocce?)...It’s like a second language for me.
I added a gif for greater clarity. The design of the tactical robots in the Christopher Nolan film is unprecedented.
I think you have to go back to the work of Robert Kinoshita for anything (non-CGI) as innovative.

[emoji1]. I had the same image in my head. Pretty good movie as it is somewhat grounded in science with some abstract astrophysics theories.

Nice haul on the Snap-on Ratcheting wrenches.
I would have been going crazy looking for the smaller sizes that surely were sold as part of a set since you found 14 through 19mm.
Picture looks like 0° offset non reversing, correct?
Haven't run across those.

Yeah, they're the non reversing version. I searched all the piles multiple times trying to find the rest, but even though I couldn't find them, I'm very happy with the purchase. I took a couple of them apart last night because they were pretty gritty feeling. After some superlube, they're feeling much better.

Probably not really worthy of this thread, but thought I would share anyway. Went to a flea market on Sunday and happened across a table that had a few 3/8” ratchets. The seller gave me a price of $4 each. I looked over them and there were several no names with plastic selectors, a Craftsman and three others with knurled handles. I checked them out, two S&K 45170 and a New Britain NB44. All were a little gummy feeling and show a wear. I offered $10 for all three and he took it. I brought them home and opened them up and sure enough, they needed a good cleaning. I brushed everything up, dropped the parts into some ATF fluid and let them sit until tonight. I dried everything out, wiped them down and reassembled with Super Lube. They are all three really quiet and smooth.

Nice find--and totally worthy of the thread!!

Picked up a couple 'Free' side of the road things today.

1) Most notably is this cool rolling 2-step commercial metal step. Rolls easily on small wheels then when you step on it, the wheels move up dropping the whole frame down an inch or so onto rubber non-slip feet.

I'm going to clean it up then give a nice coat of paint. Not sure what color yet. Maybe red or yellow or even just a med-tone gray.

2) The wife took the following items and will use them somewhere for her plants or something?

a. Vintage all wood side table in excellent condition.
b. Vintage small table lamp.
c. Old small weathered birdhouse
d. Small multi-type battery tester. (Works perfectly.)

Plus: An old wrench, pliers, 'really cheap' thin ignition wrench set, wood box and a large metal file box.

That score cleared the bar as far as I’m concerned.
youinreverse got a FANTASTIC deal.

You - what a score! YOU ****!

Macduf that’s an unusual ratchet, the name anyway. I’ve only noticed a couple before.

Nice. Is that a BOG ratchet?

Looking for the following Plomb Pebbles Wrench 3061

I think you may be right. Sure looks like it. There was a set for sale on ebay in the last couple years, in Canada of all places. It had me kind of curious.

Auto Accessories Corporation of America was a short-lived follow-up to Packer Auto Specialty Company (the makers of "RAY" brand socket wrench sets), formed in 1927 in a merger with a few other one-off companies. I'm not all in on Bog as the maker, but it's possible. The strange thing is, it's a step back from the ratchets in the "RAY" sets. It seems early, in other words, but isn't. I think Auto Accessories Corp must have been going after the economy market, like an early G.M.Co/Oxwall. EDIT: Macduf posted additional photos here.

Sorry to leave you hanging, BB! I don't know much about modern Snap-on, let alone those ratcheting combos, but I do know it's a little more expensive than $2 per wrench, HAHA, so thanks for picking me up with the Yoda deal praise, Shiftless. :)

Came across this wrench set on Ebay and really liked the two long 3/4 Armstrong wrenches. I use 3/4 constantly in the farm and don't have any long ones. Really like the feel in the hand of the Armstrong wrenches.

Here’s my first buy of the year.
SO 1/4” through handle driver and Armstrong clamp.
bc8842aaabf737509be881cc67a88fd8.jpg
Bought at the Flywheelers tractor show, we had a space set up to purge of our extras. So for a change, I’ve sold far more than I’ve bought this year.

But today I closed the gap up some.
Found this hole cutter set on FB MP, it’s a high end set, didn’t make sense for me to buy, but.........
69bfc2f870c10b99073de5c66cd57559.jpgits a Allpax set, 1/8” to 2”.

Guy is disabled and is selling off. Was there 2 hours chatting with him about different places he worked.

1/2”&3/8” IR air rats, Dynabryde belt sander with belts, 2 new cans of Kroil, long shaft die grinder like tool, Proto ****** tools.
e8b4ff16817bc736c3e648ee178a1743.jpg
Misc CM wrench’s, rat wrench, Starrett thread and radius gauges, 3/8” butterfly impact. Misc hold down parts.
2f1e703b837695309a8cb3e08fdd585c.jpg
Some Proto and a Wright c clamps. Hard to turn down at $2.50 each.
2d0d09caee5c4184b20500096435cd66.jpg
Hammers, I need another 50 or so. The CM ball pein is like new, brass Neplua, and a really light weight soft hammer.

As I was starting to load up, he asked if I would please take this stack of magazines!
Sure, always happy to help out!

Been meaning to post for a while. During the holidays, I went down to Tucson to visit family. Over the weekend mother, SO, and I went to some sales together. Good thing I did because I found a little brother to my Hinsdale 1/2" 0 deg offset ratchet! Paid $1 for the 3/8" 0 deg and works beautifully, pictured with its bigger brother. Then found a flying V 1/4" ratchet and Cman adjustable auger bit set with the original case, all the pieces are with it too. $2 ea for those.

Always a good find when you find something that doesnt seem to have a record of it on the internet...

Well somebody *****! Those ratchets go together beautifully.

Those magazines, I'm sure they'll be inspected at the next GJ members get together. Wouldn't want unworthy things taking up valuable shop space now.

Looks like some of them are still in their protective sleeves so no risk of anything gummed up!

Well, we do have a history of going X-rated from time to time on this thread. Just last year there was the naked QP doll bottle opener that 3bay tried to slip past us, linked here (see Pic 7), and my risque wartime cigarette lighter, linked here (See Pic 3). :)

I had a 'two-hours-late-to-work' kind of haul (Lugz 2020_04) at the flea market this morning. Nothing overly extraordinary, just that there were six or seven different old time-consuming toolboxes to pick through.

Pic 1 is the whole haul. Whoever "TOM" is I am grateful for his homemade tote (love the extra high handle), which served its purpose well after I exceeded my first fistful of stuff. Some keepers here, anad some flippers or trade bait.

Pic 2 is a near-partial New Britain 1/2-inch drive set, including seven sockets, two deep, a uni joint, drag link bit, sliding T, hinge handle, and long extension.

Pic 3 is a Long C Craftsman 1/4" drill.

Pic 4 is everything else dumped out.

TOP to BOTTOM, LEFT to RIGHT, more or less...

- Williams 3/8-drive hinge handle with a strange marking I seem to recall us discussing before.
- Extra long Mayhew drive punch
- P&C 3/8-drive hinge handle and socket
- Extra large (probably No. 5) Lutz tool and file handle
- Indestro midget hex set No. 350
- Complete 10-pc Hex-E-Case hex key ("Allen", colloquially) set, 1/16 to 3/8, with an 11-digit FSN, by Hartwyn Mfg Co in East Orange NJ
- Unknown funky exposed spring-loaded drill bits
- Cornwell 1/4-drive speeder
- Cornwell-F half-moon wrench (going right into the half-moon wrench collection)
- Herbrand drain plug wrench
- Herbrand Battery Terminal wrench
- That bunch of orphan 1/2-drive pieces includes an APCO-Mossberg TWIN-HEX socket (never seen one before), a Bonney (CV) drag link bit, 8-point Plomb 5420S 5/8" socket, and a Blackhawk deep 1/2" 1941 Lock-On socket.
- AIR CORPS marked "snoopy" (Dzus, technically) tool
- The DOE wrench that looks like a British ignition wrench (think Terry's) is a "For-A-Ford" brand wrench
- The pretzel logic DBE wrench is a Gray Marine Motor Co Fuel Pump Wrench
- The Acorn Stoves & Ranges crank handle is made by Rathbone, Sard, & Co

As most of you know, I don't like to talk prices, but the snoopy alone is worth more than I paid for everything.

Nice haul, Lugz

That 5 inch Prentiss Bulldog vise in front of the anvils would have tempted me greatly. Was that also overpriced to match the anvils you didn’t grab?

I don't think the anvils or the vises (there is a clamping swivel base Reed just out of the picture in the foreground...) were overpriced, per se, but they were closer to true value or "retail" or sales-and-trades-among-collectors' prices, if you know what I mean, than bargain/uninformed seller prices. But I am going to go back tomorrow and hope he comes down.

Yeah, THAT caught my eye. I assume it has the meatball-type rather than cylindrical hub. Model/size?

I didn't get a pic or the model number. I was sort of focused in on the anvils and the Prentiss Bulldog (I have a smaller one...) and only after I walked away and eventually left the flea market completely did I think about the Reed again. From memory, it had that big screwing wingnut to tighten it to the bench underneath and a swivel base that worked sort of like a clutch ratchet, with coarse exposed upturned "teeth" on the base that engage with downturned teeth on the bottom of the body of the vise. The jaws seemed very tall to me, as in combination vises, but there were no pipe jaws or provision for pipe jaws as I recall.

If I can ever get all of today's haul cleaned up, I plan to do some poking around to see if I can identify it in catalogs or ads or by searching on the MegaVise thread.

Good haul, Lugz! I had an uninformed seller moment at the last sale of the day.
The first sale was in Sonoma and it was a HUGE workshop filled with Harbor Freight tools. I found a small handful of items I thought were worthwhile and my wife found a large box of my favorite deck screws and the prices weren’t bad. The torque wrench may be able to be repaired. The second sale wasn’t worth mentioning but I guess I just did. I found two rusty Craftsman wrenches and she quoted double eBay prices so I left empty handed except my wife found some 50 cent tongs. The third sale in Napa was the best one. Lots of stuff with high price tags but I found a partial Thorsen set with some unused Craftsman tools inside and some very early Xcelite nutdrivers. On the way out I spotted an earlier Drill Doctor still sealed up. We brought it to the check out and the lady looked at it and thought it was a Dirt Devil vacuum set. I usually don’t mention prices but after the two ladies had a short conference she quoted $8.00 for the Drill Dr. Needless to say I hustled it out to the car before she changed her mind.
-Don

Several impressive hauls and selective picks, there, gents. Looks like the kickstart to a good weekend. I’m going to try organizing my acquired mess a bit tomorrow. Dunno if I’ll actually get out to any sales. Looks to be pretty wet and sloppy. Maybe Sunday.

Here are some close-ups of the wartime "snoopy" key. That's a variegated Bakelite handle. For the unfamiliar, these Dzus tools were used to open disk-shaped quarter-turn lock fasteners on aircraft panels and compartments. That slotted piece was for opening fuel tank caps. Some of them were black (those made by Camillus, notably), others wood, others still no handle at all. These brindled brown ones are my favorite. I don't know who SAAD (the mfgr) is.

Several sports cars used Dzus fasteners for locking compartments under the hood or trunk or behind the seat, so the keys can come in handy.

Here's that "Hex-E-Case" set (See Pics 1, 2, & 3) with the 11-digit Federal Stock Number for a GSA#. Kind of a neat idea. The company (Hartwyk) patented the case (they won't fall out if held upside down), but all the hex keys are made by Allen, whom they must have had a deal with.

I've got a similar set (See Pics 4 & 5), in a similar case (made by Upland Forge, with Upland hex keys inside it), with the same FSN on it. Much worse condition, obviously.

Probably 50's or 60's on both.

Oh my! That derserves a You **** on a whole nother level. Both of them ratchets are EXTREMELY Rare. Well done sir, well done.

Looking for the following Plomb Pebbles Wrench 3061

Don, I will bet you dollars to donuts that the TQ-150 is still good. Pop off the top plate, and if the linkage inside isn't corroded it should be good to go. I have two of them and they are my favorite torq wrench.

It’s on my to do list. The fogging of the lens is a concern as well. Is there a technique for getting the dial apart?

3/4 belzer and a 32mm xl wrench made by matador. Got the swivel base too, I’m thinking about making a wall mounted work light next to my mill.

25 bucks

Other stuff at the same sale - 4 bucks: Petrified wood, rope and some old Pyrex glass lids. I use these for holding small parts for small work.

The pics don't do the petrified wood chunk justice...

And a later sale: A Crossman pellet pistol and a Western Field 22 scope.

I tend to use 3X9 1" tube scopes on 22's and 22 scopes on pellet guns...

$10 all

I made it out to the second day of an estate sale today. It was fairly picked over but I managed to come away with a meatloaf pan full of goodies for 10 bucks.

An umco double sided aluminum tackle box, a fish billy, various wrenches from craftsman, plomb, proto, and p&c, a p&c ball lien, 3/8” rhft ratchet and =v= extensions, crown top wrench pouch and Allen set, wood handled putty knife, long c bevel, red devil pliers and some 1/4” very= sockets. Oh yea... and a rusty meatloaf pan.

CFD, I like those aluminum tackle boxes! I have a coupe like or similar to that and a couple setup for spinners/files. Cool stuff!

Outlaw You ****!
You got a fantastic deal on that stuff...vise, pistol, sights...

50 feet of 3/8 Manila rope at HD is over $10 by the time you pay sales tax.

Hard to know the market value of that chunk of million+ year old wood but I’m positive it’s over 4 bucks.

Are you sure the manufacturer is SAAD and not SAAB?
