A better place to ask would be the Duro-Indestro thread, OR, but I suspect the answer is no. This has come up before on that thread. I have a near complete set of the same tools, no box, and FrankLee and a few others have the whole caboodle in the box. None of four.cycle's old ads includes the 6pt set either. The best you can do is presume it was the same as the 12pt set. Here is a link to a post in that thread where I included an early 30s ad for Frank. If you scroll back you'll find his set.

Thanks for the vector, Lugz! It was too late last night to add another post but I hope to get to it after I revisit the sale this afternoon. I looked at Frank's post (#1238) and his later post, same subject, (#1244) and don't see any pictures--is it just me?

Welcome to the rabbit hole, OR. The lack of a name makes these even harder to come by. I have some spares, and will take a look. If you are willing to "contaminate" the set with Duro, those used a trapezoid. IIRC, SK was a single dot on either side. Forget what Hinsdale used.

I have most of a set, but missing a box and extensions. Also have a Fulton (SK) set with box to compare. The fulton is 12pt, Indestro is 6pt.

I had found, and I am sure that Lugz remembers, an almost complete set of six and four-point Hinsdales, with all of the extras - only no box. It took years to come up with one, but it is now one of my favorite sets. I would be willing to bet that the sets are pretty close as to contents and age, as most of the Chicago sets are pretty similar from that time.

I went back to the sale to see if I had overlooked any items from the set and I had! The PO had used two sockets to cobble together a tire iron--both sockets were peened onto the steel rod. Also found the long square adapter and Ell. The two sockets and the other Ell are hex. I also came across what I thought might be part of the valve grinder--without the supporting socket, but foolishly failed to put it in my bag. The bisected hex socket got me thinking that it might be the supporting socket, but it's a hex.

Since I had already paid for the set, the agent gave me these items. The Snap-on spinner was $1.

Well, here is the cleaned up Indestro set. It took a couple of trips back to the sale to verify I got all they had (except for those two CM top boxes that sold before I got to look inside them )

Still missing the ratchet, screwdriver bit, the socket half of the valve grinder, along with the 1", 3/4" & 19/32" 6pts and all eight 8pt sockets. Since I don't have a catalog reference for this 6pt set I'm using the 12pt #1536 set in the 1935 catalog as a guide. That set has no 4pt sockets, so there's no telling how many 4pt sockets may have been included in this set. I found six 4pts from 7/8" to 3/8" and it's a good bet that at least the 3/4" is missing.

Overall, they cleaned up very well--just degreaser and a small wire brush. Not much rust for things nearly 100 years old. The box is another story. I'm considering repainting and a new decal.

Wow, that did clean up nicely!

Forgot to mention, you certainly have a sixth sense to have been able to identify anything from that label remnant...

Thanks Mike!

Full disclosure--at the sale, the label was almost completely obscured. It wasn't until I scraped some grime off the speeder and saw the Indestro stamp that I realized who the manufacturer was.

Plvmb 1140 and 1145 DBEs and an Indestro 1/2” ratchet from Don, and a vintage Williams 7029B DBE for my first GMTK. The Williams has been hard to find, so I jumped on it when it showed up on the auction site. Need to get that paint off of it, and my guess is it’s pre-war, given the shiny (chrome) finish under there.

Nice DBEs, gpw!

Also, huzzah to our current thread host, LesserSon as he prepares to join the emeritus ranks. You been a superb host, LS, as many have remarked. However, I hope you will keep our warm regards in mind when we all are a bit eager for the end of this year and the rebirth of this thread for 2021.

Happy New Year, all!

Congratulations on a splendid year. It's safe to say it was the most challenging Garage Sale thread year that any predecessor has ever faced, but you pulled it off with your trademark wit and whimsy and your irrepressible optimism, adding your own stamp to the hosting role with your monthly tallies, and your intellectual puns and references. As for the hauls, we started off slow, but when it picked up, it just kept picking and picking and picking! Well done.

Beemer
Can't wait to see what you do with the place in 2021! I might even stay up 'til midnight to find out! :)

Happy New Year, All!

Thanks to those who have gone before (and also for their kind words), and Woo-Hoo!
ALL HAIL BEEMER! Our 2021 Thread Host is INSTALLED!

I think you meant:
2021 GS Thread HERE

EDIT - I want to acknowledge the praise and encouragement I’ve received throughout this trying year. There were many times when I hit a snag in my personal life or just felt the news of the world smothering my enthusiasm. The occasional word or gesture of a member here, not always even directed toward me, was often enough to turn me round. I suppose many of us feel that sense of mutual respect and support, which keeps our regulars coming back.
I am grateful to those who carry on unhesitatingly - posting their finds, bestowing praise, sharing wisdom, revealing fallibility - it’s you who made this thread what it is. The year was indeed not what I had expected, and my own tendency in such circumstances is to withdraw and withhold. With the waning of the season, I felt myself more aloof than dutiful, and meant to rally by drafting some dim shadow of Lugz’s “Rust Never Sleeps” over the holidays.
Enter food poisoning. I don’t know exactly what caused it, but I spent this last week navigating the limbo between bed and bath. So much for last hurrahs.
Yet the thread carried on, regulars and newbies posting what the twilight of 2020 could offer. It has been my honor and priveledge to Host you. I am filled with gratitude for what all of you have contributed to making this year, not only bearable, but enjoyable.
