I think this only works for items they let you ship to a store.

That sounds right.

I just remembered that the quantity shown on SYW is also not the total available, just some kind of local total. When I ordered a couple of roller stands a while back, I saw the total shown on SYW available for the store across town go to zero before I could get my order in, but they were still able to ship one to my home.

I’m unsure how or where the total comes from. It’s some sort of local quantity but where I don’t know, also seems like there is a fail safe store pickup threshold of like 1 or 2 but it depends on how fast an item sells, so a faster selling item doesn’t let you do a pickup if there’s two. I ran into this when trying to get an air fryer last year.

I know some people use cashback portals, just FYI, giving assistant is paying 16% back at sears!!!

TopCashback and befrugal are both at 9, retailmenot at 10, haven’t seen rated this high in a bit.

While its a nice little set, why pay $44 for such a small set of impact sockets?

As mentioned, I didn't "pay" anything for the sockets. I had $50 in points expiring and wanted to buy something decent with them.

That said, these aren't regular impact sockets, each has one side designed to extract stripped lugs. When needed, they'll save me some time and hassle.

The local store was busy replacing the Christmas section with the fitness department (it's time for those New Year's Resolutions).

Now I saw them tearing down the tool department aisles, so I thought they were shrinking the tool department. However, the staff insisted they are rearranging everything to prepare for incoming DieHard merchandise.

Hmm.. Well, I only had $10 in points but I bought them and the $23 lug sockets that are lined in plastic. I was chatting trying to get free shipping and they said they would have to refund the shipping after the order like someone mentioned on here... I went ahead and placed the order and when I did it disconnected me on chat... Had to explain all that **** again and the dude (Daniel) kept asking why the other chat person said they would refund the shipping... All I could say was b/c I asked them to. Ol Daniel claims Ill see the $10 in shipping within 72 hours but we'll see.

I placed mine through chat, and actually placed the order right with the agent rather than doing it myself. If that's not how you did it that may be why you got disconnected.

I overheard similar when the tool guy was talking to a very loud guy asking for tool catalogs about the diehard tools. I heard early March. I suppose it’s pretty easy to tell, they’ll hit the website or store pickup before they even set the dept if they even do exist.

At this point just finding something half decent to spend your points a challenge itself. The associated dollar amount is pretty meaningless at this point.

There is still available blowout stuff floating around the websites if you want to comb through hundreds of items (but then it’s a crapshoot if you can ship to store unless you can convince chat to do otherwise).

I have also heard grumblings similar to this from a store manager. I get the vibe that the DieHard name will be more of a focus for tools than the Craftsman name, but I will believe this when to merchandise is in front of me. If Great Star is manufacturing this new line, I think the quality will be fine but hopefully the price isn't that of top-tier made in USA.

The only question I have is will they have outdoor power equipment like riders, push mowers, trimmers, ect. In the not so distant past I thought I heard that MTD and Sears had severed their ties.

I heard they had a Chinese manufacturer JYD or something who was going to supply the lawnmowers/snowblowers. This supposedly happened around August or September. That stuff usually has a 6 month lead time so theoretically you’d see the stuff soon if it’s true.

I have a chinese MTD clone snowblower I got really cheap. It’s such a direct copy you can use MTD parts. I’ve had it 3 years now. It’s held up as decently as my other snowblowers. I know Home Depot has chinese lawnmowers typically available to order on the website but not in stores.

I doubt they’d price Diehard tools at any premium they could raise the price of the craftsman ones and still undercut Lowe’s.

Well I’ve been sitting on the last big points I had for over a week was getting down to the end of having to use it. Been padding it with sweeps. Finally bit the bullet and bought the double open end wrench set. Didn’t need it but don’t need much of anything else either. All these wrench sets are old maybe I’ll get lucky and they’ll still be USA ones. The double box end sets were right around the time they switched. Just hope they’re not lobster claws.

I picked up a pedestal style whole house humidifier for $93.94, looks like most humidifiers and space heaters have been added to the “blowout” pricing if anyone’s running out of things to get. Same humidifier I bought is $150 at Home Depot and Lowe’s.

Oh
Has anyone else noticed items that appear to be in stock for shipping, then show out of stock once they're in the cart? Is this accurate or a bug in the app?

I’ve noticed that before, usually in the morning or after 8pm eastern. During the day it’s usually fine. I think it’s deliberate for very low inventory items that are for sale in some stores and would ship from the store to you. But that’s just a guess.

Not positive, I think it’s a glitch. The stores keep a padding of an item or two on items depending on how fast they sell. I noticed this when trying to online order an air fryer a year ago.

When I ordered the box end wrenches I was initially going to order both sets at the same time, but when I tried to order the SAE set it showed out of stock, this was I think either right before I went to bed or early in the morning. I delayed the order ordered the Metric and later ordered the SAE. They were not shippable to store at that time (dunno if they are now) and both were shipped directly from a distribution center where a lot of these weird items have been coming from.

One glitch I have noticed lately is if you see an item unavailable to ship to store for pick-up, that item more than likely will be able to be shipped to a store from the syw.com site. I haven't tried a lot of items, but every one I have so far has been ship to store through syw.com. May be worth a quick look to say $4-6 per item/order.

I need sears to drop their pants on shop your way rewards and big sales at the same time like they did in 2017 where we got multiple air mattresses, cooler, bunch of $5-10 store brand shirts, Cman outdoor chairs, bunch of tools for free or a few cents to dollar each.

Heard Lowes is going to add 1200 new craftsman tools to their lineup; website has 1400+ results for the keyword "craftsman" currently. fyi stay away from their cordless tools. stick with dewalt, ryobi, or milwaukee.

They must have adjusted some pricing now that all the points are gone, if you search craftsman and filter 50% off there’s only about 90 items, a few haven’t been marked down in quite awhile, the 48 piece specialty wrench set and this weird “specialty” ratchet set:
Not a hot buy so u can drop a coupon on it too:

What exactly is this set? 4 ratchets off the shelf? The angled flex head is currently a great star, the ibeam is not at least not in the store. This is a pretty good price, they currently want $39 for the angled flex though I’ve seen it somewhat cheaper it still was maybe $27 on the low end.

Looks like I got lucky I gambled and got the non ratcheting ones and the metric went oos after I got them, seeing as that they were from 2014/15 I doubt those are coming back. These went down in price so maybe I can piece a deal together.

They’ve sold that ratchet set or something similiar for at least a few years but I haven’t seen it in a while.

The open ended wrench set showed up today. Box looks brand new, no packing list and an even wider date spread than the box ends, but the newest wrench is from last year. Didn’t realize they went as big as they did but I didn’t factor in 2 sizes per wrench in a 28 wrench set is quite a lot of sizes.

Since reviews say they were packed individually, loose, and mine were in 4 bags I have a few theories about where these came from:

-They’re loose stock or were intended to be, found in a warehouse repackaged as a whole set.
-they were intended as warranty replacements and packaged into sets
-they were smaller parts of the old build a tool sets thrown together to make sets

I’m going to guess they’re old open stock repackaged. The 2011-2012 catalog has all 28 pieces listed as open stock but no such “set”. Whether Sears did it or the vendor (who I guess is apex since the oldest ones are danaher stamps) did I dunno.

Guess the same mystery remains over last year’s heavy duty mechanics set that showed up 2 or 3 times. Mine came with hometown stickers and not on file written in the box, and looked like it had been sent from a hometown back to a Sears warehouse.
https://www.sears.com/craftsman-142pc-mechanics-tool-set-heavy-duty/p-A021811331

Guess I’m expecting too much order from a company that still has parts in stock for a 50 year old lawnmower in their parts direct.

5% off select tools, and it's a total seven items.

I think I'm near the point of unsubscribing from their emails. :headshake

It’s actually on most stuff, add them to your cart to see the discount. Those are just ones that are on sale off the regular price aside from the 5% discount

Edit, their cart is messed up. Click on the link to the midnight madness sale, go to these tools, then search for craftsman, then add the item to the cart, then the discount appears... sometimes. Gotta love Sears. Took me 3 times to get it to work.

Edit 2, after much fiddling with the cart and checkout I got the long ratcheting wrenches down to $52. I did this from mobile so I am not sure the issue applies to a regular computer. Oddly a screwdriver set I was playing with seemed to work fine nearly every time. Not sure it was worth the effort. Hopefully these wrenches are half decent, the pics look similar to the gear wrench but I haven’t seen them in store. Then again I am scraping up the last items I’ve had in my cart so if Sears decides to call it a day I’ll have pretty much everything I had wanted.

not sure if MM started early, but it certainly ended early. 730am and even though the banner is still up with a countdown clock, clicking on it brings you to a page that says, MIDNIGHT MADNESS HAS ENDED
but like yrly said, there were only 7 items listed last night soooo....

They are good. I have had the Cman SAE set for over a year and the metric gearwrench set. 100% same manufacturer etc. I used them all the time, but glad I got the metric from gear wrench so there are no skips. The SAE from Cman has no skips but doesn’t have 7/8 which would be useful. Gearwrench doesn’t really warranty these either so it doesn’t matter from that perspective.

Got my sockets in yesterday. The made in usa flip sockets are nice but I wasted $20 or whatever it was on the plastic coated sockets. They'll be ok for most rims but if the lug is recessed any at all, they will be too big to fit back in the hole. Which is when you would be worried about damaging the rim with the socket....

Last photo is the flip socket sitting on the coat socket. You can see the size difference.

I find it strange the coated sockets have both a 3/4" socket and a 19mm socket... The flip socket set only has 1 socket that does both 19mm and 3/4".

I also just received both sets of sockets and so far they are pretty good and with the OOP, they're even better.

That is something to consider when purchasing any impact socket. I had a 2011 Fiesta with aftermarket rims with snow tires on it that I had to use a thin-wall spark-plug socket to change out my tires/rims from winter to summer. The plastic coated units would have worked for me.

I suppose in theory being Craftsman you’d get some sort of compensation if you broke one even if Sears isn’t dealing with gearwrench and Stanley makes nothing comparable. 7/8 would be nice but I’ll live without unless Sears or Gearwrench has single open stocks (never really looked).

A lot of these Sears deals were things I did without but were wants, potential needs, nice to haves. I really put more effort into this this last year than in the past because Sears seems closer to the brink, when things didn’t seem so immediate it would be an item here or there and wait for clearance interspersed with stuff like free coffee and pet food from Kmart.

No way I would be able to find 10 things worth buying... Have to spend over $35 each time to get free shipping.

Unfortunately they've taken away chat's ability to give free shipping up-front, I had to place the order and pay for shipping and then the chat guy could issue a refund to my card.

I was told the same today, that they can no longer take away shipping up-front, so I didn't place the order.

Did you end up getting the credit card refund for shipping?

Has anyone who placed an order with points and promised a credit card shipping refund gotten the refund, back to their credit card?
