Went today to pick up the prybar and saw. Everything in tools was Chinese except for this "clearance" set of wrenches from Taiwan.

They slapped 'Hot Buy' tags on the online Blowout prices this week.

If they want to clear out this stuff quickly, then I'm not sure how blocking coupons will help. :headshake

They sent out $5 off $10 freecash coupons that expire March 17th. They blocked the coupons on the blowout stuff that day. Kinda disappointed as I’ve been slowly buying up those cheap screwdrivers for future gifts.

When you say "freecash coupons", do you mean surprise points (freecash in points) or discount coupons?

In my experience, surprise points are not blocked by the 'Hot Buy' tag (hit or miss with the 'Clearance' tag).

I meant those coupons you have to manually load to your account on SYW.com. Then there’s coupon codes. Then there’s freecash points.

I’m not sure what else you’d call them since they’re not a coupon code or points.

They usually have a direct disclaimer on them with the exclusions. Kinda irrelevant now anyway since all the outstanding ones expired on the 17th and now all they’ve got are various Kmart laundry detergents. I think what you get may vary based on your shopping habits. I rarely read these things, every week or so I just load all the things to my account whether I use them or not.

In other news the saw I ordered is here, it’s made by a Great Star. Manufacturing date of 39th week of 2019 which is late September. It looks decent enough and the handle is a good size for my hand. I don’t have anything to cut at the moment though so I can’t comment there.

The one time I really had to put mine to use, the entire thing bent like it was made of putty. I was able to get it straight again by banging it on the concrete floor a few times so it’s made of an incredibly malleable China junk metal. Planning to warranty it out through Stanley for their version once they have one out.

Who makes them now though? They were Apex at one point but may have switched to great star.

If you have a Harbor Freight close by, they sell the same thing for $5.99 (with coupon):
204_ITEM_20_BIN_PORTABLE_PARTS_STORAGE_CASE_1582217537.8768.png

Much lower quality than the Stanley. I have about 10 of the hf ones and they are all breaking. The hinge holders break, the lids break, and the lids are not able to be exposed to the sun without crumbling. Not one problem with my Stanley
ones.

The dewalt bins are thicker and slightly shorter. The hf does have an advantage in that it is much cheaper to get extra small bins.

If you aren’t using them everyday then the hf are great but if you work out them, then get something better. I got Stanley ones under $10 through Zoro with 25off coupon.

I finally received a Sears/Kmart coupon $5 off $15. Didn’t specify what qualified but it only seemed to work on certain clothes. So I tied that into an order slightly over $35 for free shipping since there are not any Kmarts close by.

Anyway I purchased the Craftsman 3/8 quick release offset ratchet. #44835

https://m.sears.com/Craftsman-3-8"-Drive-Offset-Flex-Head-Teardrop-Ratchet/p-A011264826

Delivered today and the build code on the handle is 44835 L-AJ. The plastic shelf hanger is labeled as manufactured in Taiwan. Can anybody guess the manufacture date?

Thanks. I’m guessing this was old warehouse stock?

L is the code for the apex plant in Taiwan, AJ is the year of manufacture which I believe is 2019. They just got those in stock. Apex may have made them last year, but payments, time of shipping, etc.

"Another one bites the dust".....

I was driving yesterday near our closest Sears store and saw guys on the street with poster boards saying their local store was closing. Sad thing is, I had no desire to even go look to see what was available.

https://www.weny.com/story/41670638/sears-at-the-arnot-mall-to-close-in-april

Looking through the doors in that video preview pic, it seems like that store is already lacking in merchandise.

My local store isn't scheduled to liquidate, but they've started a big push on moving out apparel. There's plenty of new clearance signs in every clothing area. Though, Johnson must have been paid, because the tool department restocked the Craftsman levels and squares.

Wish I'd seen this comment a week ago. :(
Used up a freecash offer on it, so guess I'll keep it and hope for the best.

All that comes to mind is the SYW Coupon Center, but the only offers I get with a button to manually load are coupons for Kmart everyday essentials (like the detergent you mentioned). :dunno:

The freecash in points offers in that section are always pre-loaded for me, and the remaining offers just advertise a promo code to use in the cart.

These vary constantly, I check them every few days. You have different ones than I do (or did when I checked Friday) so I guess they’re somehow personalized. Not all freecash ones on here are always preloaded at least they aren’t for me.

I grabbed one too at $7.99 but haven’t used it yet, it looks OK. Appears to be from Apex.

I got 4 free cash offers on Friday, 10 on $15; 25 on 85; 50 on $499 and 85 on $1099. First time I’ve gotten a few cash offer in at least 6 months

Idk but if that adjustable head is anything like the foreign black handled ratchet its USELESS. The head flops around like a wet noodle. I've got the USA version of both and they have a night tight head with a strong spring and deeper grooves for the ball bearing to sit in.

I have the 3/8 and 1/2 of the Taiwan model they’re great, head is very tight.

can you post link for the 1/2" drive ratchet? i don't think i have seen an offset 1/2"

Great deal on the 1/2, they lower it to this price about once a year for the last few years, tho usually in July

I don't think Sears sells an 1/2" offset driver but folks might be referring to this:

Craftsman 1/2" Drive Flex Head Quick Release Teardrop Ratchet - $24.99

fwiw....still keep asking for free shipping on your orders guys. im having good luck still. i chatted, asked if they could provide FS and still use FC. they said yes, pay shipping then we'll refund. ok cool, used the $10/15, paid $6.69. then asked if they could do the same for a kmart order. they said yes, so i used my $6/6, paid $6.69. i'll check back once the refunds process to verify.

overall, i was going to order both anyway as i had $16.** to burn, so even if they dont refund i was still going to pay OOP for shipping.

Spent OOP and purchased Craftsman ProSeries 1/2" Composite Impact Wrench. Yet to pick it up. Review is good - great price if you want / need one. It may go a bit lower but not much and not very often. Like everything at this point, it may just go OOS / discontinued.

I think the low is around $70. I’m a little mad they didn’t run this on sale last week when I had $25 off $80 freecash.

I went to the livonia, mi store yesterday to pick up my last order. They’re closing now, lots of inventory, even sold out online stuff (84t ratchet set for example, out of stock online since October of 19) way overpriced and nothing good (like signs)

But they had a sign up that indicated that they would still accept points for purchases but purchases would no longer earn points because the store was closing. Someone had posted on slickdeals that they didn’t take points at closing stores anymore, so they were wrong, just FYI

Same with my closing store, now loads of inventory, items I have not seen in months. Can confirm points still worked on sales.
