Here is a Heritage carry box I found yesterday that I just couldn’t say no to. It was more than I wanted to pay but the condition won me over. I meant to get some better pictures of it today but didn’t get around to it.

Man that thing has led an easy life! I think that's the most user friendly carry box they ever sold. Nice find.

Well I own it but it's not in my shop yet. A buddy picked this up for me yesterday. I convinced the wife that she always wanted to go to NOLA for a mini-vacation so it'll make it's way to me sometime this spring.

The only place I can find this chest listed is in the 1949 Spring and Summer catalog, it's not in the 49 tool catalog. Available separately or as part of a kit. The wording in the ad for the kit is interesting is that they're obviously trying to get rid of their remaining New Britain stock. The tools in the kit look to be predominately NB with the exception of the MDF-made Gen1 box head rat. I'm looking forward to seeing how this thing will clean up.EDIT: I keep forgetting the screen shots don't enlarge in here. The wording on the kit ad is: Positively the greatest socket wrench values in all our history. Why? Because we want to make room for our new sets with forged sockets. Every set perfect. Exactly the same superb quality which has made CRAFTSMAN sets so tremendously popular. Order now! Quantities limited!

Geeze, jocosawdust. You just found one of the rarest craftsman tool chests ever offered. You found the ‘42 deluxe carry box and now this [emoji15] only chest that may be more rare is the ‘62 deluxe lower roller. Fantastic find!

I'm going to have to respectfully disagree. This is the third one I've seen posted online, whereas no one has posted a 1961 Deluxe rolling cabinet online.

Congrats, Scott! That's a fantastic find. When you get tired of it, let me know!

Thanks gents and yes Brian, I agree. I've seen a couple of these tool carts but never the 220 pound monster from 61. Another one I've never seen (even a picture of) is the 39 tool cart. I still feel lucky to have snagged this. It belonged to the seller's wife's grandfather. She wanted him to attach a piece of marble to it and move it inside. He vetoed that! Really nice guy, worked with me while I figured out the logistics for a pick up.

If I wasn’t clear... the ‘61 roller is the rarest as far as I have been told by someone [emoji6] I just meant that Scott’s carry box is rare, followed by this rolling cart which may be even more rare?

This old roller just showed up in Flint Michigan Facebook Marketplace for $115 a few hours ago. I'm struggling to validate the seller's claims of original paint, and not willing to drive an hour to prove it to myself.

8 drawers around here go for a bit more. Price ok but not great considering paint.

The 8d rollers were the cream of the crop for their time. The only thing that tops that (in my opinion) for difficulty to find in decent shape for a Heritage bottom chest would be what it replaced, the 5d Deluxe chest that Brian posted upthread. Honestly? If it were an hour away from me it'd probably be sitting in my shop right now. I'd try to nudge him down on the price but that thing looks rock solid (I have one with a pretty bad dent in a corner). Looks to me like there's a bit of overspray at the top of the logo (at least looks like it in the pic). Perhaps you could use the repaint issue to get him off his asking price a bit.

It is repainted but it is not horrible. If it was an hour away from me i would run to get it! Try to knock him down on price but looks very straight and not rusty! Go grab it!

Well it did sell quickly. I just feel I'm approaching critical mass on stuff lying around and struggled to pull the trigger, even though I have a Snap-On K-55-W that might have looked good on top of it until such time I find a Heritage top chest, or a matching Snap-On roller.

I realize that I’ve accumulated quite a few Heritage boxes and sets so I thought that I would take some pictures. I’m really only into the 1/4” drive stuff but Craftsman seems to find me. The picture of the cantilever box had to be taken in place because it’s too heavy to move.

Last Sunday, someone listed a set of Craftsman body tools on FB Marketplace. Because of their location and my schedule, I knew I wouldn't be able to make the deal in a timely manner, so I messaged the seller, offering double the asking price of $50 if she would wait until I could make the trip.

Included in the box of body tools were nearly every Craftsman body tool listed in the 1948 catalog. The only piece I'm missing is the "valley paddle", which is letter 'T' on the catalog page. There are still a few remnants of the Craftsman Heritage decal on 3 of the fender spoons, and a couple hammers still have the model/part number visible on the bottom of the handles, but they are otherwise unmarked.

Ignore the misc Plomb & Blue Point body tools. They came with the lot but I didn't want to separate them for this thread.

A super tool grab Brian. Looks like you literally cleaned up on a mother lode of tools on that trip out the lower Santiam hwy. That'll take some of the sting out of the Portland Swap meet cancellation. Ed.

I got this 1956-58 Craftsman single speed sabre saw at an antique store for $10. The case is in rough shape, but it kept the tool in wonderful condition and it runs great. I am not sure if it counts as a heritage logo, but it's before the crown logo.

I'm finding other treasures to comfort myself with, but an important purpose in going to the swap meet, is to sell lots of stuff I accumulated this past year. I have no desire to sell on CL, et al, and the other swap meets are in the heat of the summer and I don't want to bake all day in the sun!

Even though the big Portland swap is off the table I am still holding out some hope for the late Spring and early Summer swap meet season going forward....just have to get through the worst of this pandemic first. At least if it comes to a "shelter at home" situation for a week or two it's nice to have a healthy pile of Heritage tools and boxes to sort and clean to help pass the time. Ed.

Which is exactly what I've been doing since I don't have to get anything ready for the Portland swap!

Smokeshow, he is getting pretty crowded now, an needs to thin the herd!

Living in the boondocks, each day is just as busy as always. Just have to stay away from people more than usual!

Tripped over this baby on FB Marketplace. Located in New Baltimore, MI for $75.

I have no affiliation to the seller, just pushing it forward if anyone has any interest.

I am unable to link these listing on my Mac, otherwise you could go straight to it.....

And yet another 3d top chest falls in my lap. This one was $10 and only 5 minutes away. The date code is 1955.
