Picked up on a local online auction.
A 526 Prentiss Bulldog. Pretty clean condition, smooth operation, especially the swivel.
Heavy vise for a 5”.

Wizard 1/2” drive 10 piece socket set and Speeder. Anyone collect Wizard out there? I don’t but it was included in a box of tools. It’s looking for a good home. 131e81eff59a9aae62504f4f0ce96739.jpg

I saw this cabinet right after it was posted on OfferUp. I already have 2 of these, the Mechanic and Woodworkers version, and I didn't really need another and I figured someone kinda trashed it by putting up the pegboard inside. So I let it sit there for 4 days but my curiosity got the better of me and I met the seller and bought it for the 20 dollars. He had no other offers. It came out of the tool room at Argonne national Labs, the seller worked there and had it sitting in his garage for several years.

I was curious what was behind the pegboard, would there be broken off brackets? The painted little outlines of the tools? I've had a total of 5 of these cabinets pass thru my hands but to my suprise it was just brackets to hold the pegboard so it makes me think that maybe it came this way. The doors are the same way too. Also the first one I've seen without the key lock and a clasp instead. I can only guess that it was a later model.

Garage sale this morning got a bunch of metic tools! Mac deep and short impacts, Sunex 1/2dr impacts. SK 1/4dr universals and a line-wrench crows feet set. Mac spring compressor, ratcheting screwdriver and a 1/4dr long reach carb adjustment tool. Craftsman USA 1/2dr metric socket set. Cooling system analyzer. Snap-on crows foot set in SAE. Mechanics belt buckle. Mac electrical probe and a couple of Blue Point shorty wrenches. Pretty good morning!
Nice!

Oh my!
Hit my first estate sale of the 2020 Pandemic. Kind of. Was there early enough to be #2 on the list. Item I was interested in was in the detached garage. The #1 guy was interested in the house stuff. As I waited for the 9am opening I could see there were way too many people for me to feel comfortable doing this. At 8:40 the owner of the estate sale company walked past my car where I was waiting away from the crowd. I thought no harm in asking. I stopped him and said I was not feeling comfortable to do the sale but the item I wanted was in the garage, what it was, etc. Before I could finish he said we'll bring it out and set it aside so that when we open you just come in an pay and leave. Everyone was wearing a mask but after Austin had over 700 new covid cases yesterday I wasn't feeling like it was worth the risk. Glad he was willing to work with me. My first red & gray middie!!!
Congrats on getting back out there.
Scored these two for $10 total. Happy to add them to my box.

That is a nice price
I saw a promising sale on CL in a very rural area about 1/2 hour drive from home. I got there just before the 9AM opening time, and had the place to myself for about ten minutes.

They had some stuff laid out, and most of the tools were in cardboard boxes priced $10.00/box. I saw things that I would have swapped into a preferred box if it was an auction, but these were nice older people, so I took a lot of chaff with a little wheat. I call it a "you have to kiss a lot of frogs......." sale. [emoji38]

Photo #1 shows most of the loose items I bought for a total of $15.00.
Williams C-clamp, 6"
Williams C-clamp, 4"
Allen Bradley reversing switch (new) 2 HP rated
Blackhawk 5104 4-way Rim Wrench
Herbrand S-19 1/2 dr. spinner
Proto Ball Pein Hammer 1312P
Wizard H2203 DBE 1/2 x 9/16
Wizard H2058 DOE 5/8 x 3/4
Power-Kraft (Barcalo Scoop) 15/16 combo
Barcalo-Buffalo USA 1-5/16 combo

Photos #2 & #3 show a 9" Griswold cast iron pan that was included in this lot.

Photo #4 shows the collector tools from $10.00 box #1:
Proto #9604 screwdriver
Proto #5449 1/2 dr. ratchet. Big owner's marks, so it will probably be a donor for a pebble ratchet that needs a selector lever.
Plomb USA 1228 7/8 combo
P&C 1/2 dr. extension, 10". Marked "P&C Tool CO. Milwaukie, Oregon" No model number. It is a dead ringer for the 6004 shown in the 1929 catalog.
P&C 6203 extension, 6"
Utica 91-10 10" adjustable

There was about fifteen more pounds of tools in this box. There is quite a bit of Craftsman =V= and later Craftsman. Many other quality tools, and quite a bit of quality import and modern USA items. Of course, there is a lot of junk, too.

I'll post a follow-up of the rest of this box and the other $10.00 box later. I'll also try to remember to post a photo of the extension cord and Snap-On Corbin hose clamp pliers I found at another sale for $5.00.
Very nice assortment.

First auction of the season didn't disappoint. I might have gone a bit overboard! All in for $191 but when boxes of USA tools are going for $2.50 and $5 a flat you almost feel guilty not buying. I will post when I have it all unpacked. I sorted out alot of the junk so most of the stuff is good. There is so much stuff to sort through. The crescent wrench repair kit is probably the best piece of the day.IMG_20200711_172140991.jpegIMG_20200711_172507507.jpegIMG_20200711_172511584.jpegIMG_20200711_172521216.jpegIMG_20200711_172532540.jpegIMG_20200711_172553969.jpegIMG_20200711_172611839.jpeg

Lot's of HVAC stuff the last couple weeks. Jug of half full R-12 and half full R-22 for $20. Small Robinair vacuum pump for $20 (not shown). NOS thermostat and temp controller for $1/ea. About 250' of NOS twin conductor black 16 AWG cord for $2. (not shown). (better then the new stiff Chinese wire)

The gooseneck machine lamp was $5 unrestored but I restored it. It has a nice long 24" reach. The previous owner mounted the base to a big magnet from a Pioneer speaker which really strong. You can set it on a vertical machine column and it stays put and takes both hands to pull it off. Great re-purposing idea!!

Real crab eating tools. I'm tired of breaking Knipex needle nose pliers trying to crack Dungenous crab claws.

What’s the giant hammer with the pointed spike for? Blacksmithing? It’s almost 9” long.

Nice SmurfMate!

I think the hammer might be a Ship Top Maul. Found one in a 1900s tooolbox, and then verified through an Atha or similar catalog.

RTM, thanks. I’ll have to read up on ship/ top mauls.

The workmate is my 3rd. I offered $5 for it but the ReStore guy countered with, “It’s free.” I’m new to the vertical 90 degree swivel jaw/ fixed jaw version. Here are my other two:3f1084c41c8a3606aba5a3d915711dd0.jpg0a03e0eafbbd2dc50a5325ce42152ae5.jpg
I think I paid $5 each for them. I derusted them and primered them, and replaced the jaws on the smaller one. I’m a big fan of Workmates. Very practical portable benches. My go-tos for driveway projects

Lots of nice finds/posts today! I especially like The craftsman case with the pegboard inside.

Anvil just came up on market place. Seller doesn't know weight or brand. He will find out but if anyone here knows that could let me move faster on it.

Anyone know this Anvil?

Thanks!!!

bwell, on top is an old fashioned iron, so I'd say 10 lbs. give or take?

No clue on make, but unlikely to be forged. probably cast.

Go see it and give it the ball bearing bounce test. (the more rebound the better)

Thanks! I had no idea what that was on top. I was hoping something in the picture would help size it up. 10lbs is small. I don't need one 100lb but at least 20lbs would be nice.

Seller just responded and guessed 40-50lbs. But then sent a pic with his hand stretched over it and length was about equal from pinky to thumb, maybe 9". This pic was of a clean anvil, no rust. He said he has two of them. I guess one rusty and one clean. I am guessing that size wouldn't be more than 20lbs but I am not an expert.

1956 Snap on 1/4" breaker bar in very good condition.

From a sale in the city, which is unusual. Near a part of town that's seen a lot of criminal activity lately.

I have one at least 3X that size that is a Peter Wright, and its 44 lbs...

People are horrible at estimating weight, size and distance generally...

Yesterday, MrsLS & I got back from a couple days social-distancing from our four adult live-in children in a fairly-deserted rural nook of N PA (no cell service, no TV, no hot water - just random torrential downpours from the edge of TS Fay). Also checked in w/ my parents - doing well.
Back on the grid today, 10° cooler and dry, we ventured down to Jake’s flea mkt. I was looking for a hickory handle for a big hammer, but it must have been SOCKET DAY.
4 S/O, 13 Bonney, a Walden Worcester drag link adj, 4 Thorsen, 4 STW (dunno bout them yet), 2 Wright, a P&C, a Challenger, a mystery. Also a BP 8” adj, 2 S-wrenches, a HKPorter-era Disston envelope of coping saw blades, and an unmarked squat red carry box.

Finally something to put in here. This was listed as Vidmar cabinet $50 on Facebook marketplace. I immediately said I will take it and picked up with no drama this morning. Not sure why a bidding war didn’t happen as is usually the case. I thought it was much smaller than it was. It almost didnt fit in the Fit 😊

I spent the rest of the day cleaning it up. Still need to get rid of sticker residue and wax it. The paint is decent. We get a fair amount of surplus around here due to Dyess AFB. This evidently came off the flight line judging by the labels inside.

I had some rather sad family business to take care of this week, which entailed a 2k mile drive across three states, so on the way home I stopped at a couple of sales to lift my spirits. The first would have been good yesterday when it started, but I managed to find a few good drivers, one is a Bell System, for $1.50.

At the second sale, I picked up a light bulb receptacle and an Asian bronze incense burner for the wife but forgot to get a pic before she made off with it... And lastly I stopped at one of my favorites, an old appliance and small engine shop that sold antiques on the side for the last 50 years. I never know what I am going to find there, and today didn't disappoint. So, for 20 I picked up the following

A bunch of Plomb and Proto puller parts, an unmarked 1/4 socket box with misc. SK sockets, Mossberg stamped socket, unmarked socket driver, the smallest Sargent parallel pliers I have seen, an SK 1-1/16 socket, Proto wrench, wooden box, and a black case. What is in the case, you ask?

Someones mid-30's key set and headphones. They don't match by brand, but they fit so well into the case I wonder who put the set together.

$16 for all.

Nice finds.

What do you do with the S wrenches?

I've found myself with a few metal tool boxes to sort out. Previous deals I posted here "toolbox with the tools" that I'll need to decide what, if any, refurb. Two have most the paint gone and are rusty. I'd like to clean and repaint original color. One didn't close right, the lid hinge was bent back 90 degrees. I banged it back straight so it's better functional. Right now I've still got what came in the toolbox in there. At some point I'll probably group like tools together. Keeping track of where everything in the tool box came from is probably silly. I've got at least 3 sources(so far) for my DBE wrenches....lol
