I don't know where to start with this haul (Lugz 2020_40), which has all kinds of oddballs and goodies in it.

attachment.php

I know I said I couldn't get out because I had a double-header today, which was true, so I looked pretty funny rushing around at my flea in my umpire uniform. Just got home. Still need to clean and de-rust, but that is a complete Indestro combo wrench set, probably late 1940's. Special purpose Bonney pliers that I have never seen before. Proto LA half-moon wrench that I didn't have in my half-moon wrench collection. Armstrong WRIGHT Aeronautical socket. A new pair of Schollhorn pliers for my Schollhorn collection. The 1/2-inch drive sliding tee is PENENS, which I just happen to be missing from my PENENS master wrench set. It also has some interesting characteristics. A feel gauge with an interesting name (Klopp Engine Works, Detroit). An unbranded hollow handle multi-bits tool with a hammer head. And a K-D Piston Ringer for my K-D collection.

And to think I almost didn't go!

Nice haul! I see a 10 point in there as well. I always pick them up when I see them! I think those pentagon sockets open utility pad mount transformers.

...and DE-LOUSED and DE-BUGGED!

That's a helluva haul, 3bay.

That’s a cool pouch. I’m picturing a guy in an ump uniform running table to table.

The 10pt is Wright as I’m sure you guessed.

The penta sockets are good for water shutoff and meter covers, not exactly sure what else.. I found a photo online of the cap we had, the bolt is missing though. The second cap shows the pentagon bolt.

First, let me convey a Hi-Ho Silver and a hearty You **** to:
jrg,
r_olson_06,
BlueBomber
bmwrd0 and
3baygarage.

Excellent finds all--especially Roy and 3bay, for sheer volume!

I didn't do nearly as well in the same time period.

When I saw the cantilevered tool box it was covered in grime but it and the label (although unreadable) appeared to be in good shape. I know there have been several that have been acquired by GJ members in recent months and in my enthusiasm, I purchased without my normal due diligence. The Banas patent "2-way tape and centering device" caught my eye for its gimmickyness and the S-K Tools No. 1714 roll pouch was dirty but in great shape. $23 total.
After cleaning, the box turned out to be a HI-Test product. There is a thread here on GJ about a Hi-Test ratchet made in Spain, but the box was made in Poland.

17 Sep 20-1c.jpg17 Sep 20-1d.jpg

Next stop I got the Thorsen 77MC 1/4" ratchet, an old wooden handled screwdriver that feels really good in my hand and a CM 40807 metric thickness gauge--here again I didn't look close enough and only saw when I got home that it only has the 1mm & 0.5mm blades left...

17 Sep 20-2a.jpg

Yesterday was a little better, but nothing spectacular.

At a 50% off day I got a load of wrenches and sockets for $17.

Two Barcalo and one Bonny combos, a CM Long C tappet #2 (-v-) and a Ford socket wrench.
39 sockets--singles in front (l-r) Blackhawk 1", Giller 1-1/4", Bonny 1/2", P&C 15/16", S-K Wayne 3/8, SW deep 5/8 and Walden 1/2.
Back row--CM =v=, Proto Challengers, Duro Chrome, Snap-on and Thorsen.

18 Sep 20-2a.jpg

At the final stop, for $5 I got:
H-P Tools Center punch
Williams (W-Diamond) square drive DOE
Starrett No. 474 Thread Gage (to go with the 472 I got a few days ago!)
Barcalo Buffalo DOE
CM 7/8" cold chisel
and a Companion Tools Ph #1.

8 chainsaws, mityvac pressure and vacuum tester, bushing install tool, Solo brush cutter, fire axe, shop towels, metal spray can, car duster, sand paper, saw sharpening grinder disc, and the anvil part of an anvil vise. Paid $102 total.

Forgot to mention 20 chainsaw chains, and 5 extra bars.

OR,
Dunnowhy, but my attention is drawn to the screwdrivers.
The Sears Companion looks just like Sears Dunlap. Any difference visible in person?
The wood handle one looks a bit like an English Ecclipse I have somewhere. Any marks on it?

Maybe by Bison-Bial Frabryka Przyrzadow I Uchwytow. My Bison-Bial FPU vise has the identical sticker. If you're not familiar with them, they have an almost cultish following, of which I am proud to include myself. An extremely well-made, sturdy, and low-profile vise that works in reverse - the rear jaw moves backwards, thereby creating no clearance or overhang issues. Your cantilever toolbox is a nice complement. I'm wondering if they made the hand tools to go in it, too. Unless it's come kind of export thing on many products coming out of Poland.

I cleaned up my finds from this morning. Teasers attached. See Indestro, K-D, Schollhorn, Bonney, PENENS/Plomb Electroplating Burns threads for more photos, and a thread I just started linked here for more photos of the bits driver with the removeable tinner's hammer head.

Companion was apparently the predecessor to Dunlap as Sears' secondary line of tools. Dunlap debuted in 1941. Interestingly, today I picked up a hex-shaft spinner with the identical handle--only 1/4" shorter and 1/4" less in diameter that is marked only with the word SEARS. The one marked COMPANION does not say Sears but has USA 41661 BF.

I've never held an Eclipse, but in the pictures I've seen the handle has a flat oblong ****. This one is completely unmarked.

You could be right! Although I read on another site that someone thought HI-Test could just be the importer. :dunno: The box is pretty sturdy, although the PO over-G'ed the lid sheet metal at the hinges so they don't seat without pressing them down. I'll have to bend them back into place.

...the bits driver with the removable tinner's hammer head.

Lugz, that hammer driver chisel set reminds me of the turn of the century wood handled drivers by the bits...

I agree! It looks like the next generation (in steel!) of the wood handled multi-tools made by Buell Bros. and others. Good luck on ID-ing it.

Not nearly as many tools as Roy or 3bay scored in the last couple of days, but it was the end of the sale and they were moving merchandise by charging $10 for as much as you could put into one of their baskets. Many of the items were fairly outrageously priced to begin with, which explains their availability in the closing hour of the sale. Just the individually priced items in the photo added up to $200--not counting the dozens of non-itemized pieces. I'll post some detailed pics when I get things sorted, but some of the known items are:
Stanley brace
Millers Falls spiral screwdriver
Craftsman Basin wrench
Craftsman glass cutter
Large Bonny DBE & crowfoot
Keen Cutter inside calipers
Goodell Pratt dividers
4 Cornwell 3/8dr screwdriver bits
Hinsdale sliding T
Walworth Stillson 18" pipe wrench

If anyone could fill in the maker it would be appreciated

Oxwall Tool Co.

From political history, I think the date range would be 2Aug1945 (Potsdam Agreement) to 23May1949 (founding of the Bundesrepublik), but if economic documentation exists, it might narrow the range.

No idea on this makers mark.
Too fuzzy. Can you take a clearer photo? IHC (International Harvester) maybe. Maybe EFT in Canada.

Although I read on another site that someone thought HI-Test could just be the importer.
Exporter, importer, or exporter-importer. Something like that. Something in between multiple mfgrs in Poland and the Anglophile markets.

For the Garage Sailers who don't go deeper into the vintage boards, here's that Proto obstruction wrench from yesterday. It is now wrench #17 (no dupes) and counting on the half-moon stringer. The oldtimers sure had some freedom of choice in the old days, didn't they? :)

The Hi-Test socket sets I'm familiar with were made in Japan. I assume it's the same company. It appears they were made all over the place like Globemaster and Oxwall.
