Waiting on the primer to dry, time to deal with 4 tires taking up floor space. After seeing someone do up their trailer rims, I thought a little effort. 43f2cb718a2c0e03a97cc0d38753497f.jpg967861d75a3fe5698086d0e5ddf3034f.jpgc4a880127bf7aba90ba9b337c58e859f.jpg

Now those are a theft target! A good job on the red paint. Are the outer rims going to be left like that? It's hard from the glare to-tell if those are freshly-painted there. I suspect they may-be as it was white before.

I used a POR-15 treatment on my small 12" utility trailer wheels, and it's held-up very-well. I don't use my open utility trailer much, I always carry a hydraulic jack and at-least one, and sometimes two spare wheels, when I'm using it. Buying that trailer back when Bargain Trader was still popular (and craigslist wasn't here, that I know of) was the best $75 I ever-spent. It's a bent-frame, I-beam hot-dipped galvanized tilting small boat trailer, with 2 x 8 PT boards for the bed, and one-high around the perimeter. It isn't-quite 4 ft inside the side walls, but my pick-up bed is, so that's where I'd carry sheet goods. I just took >7,000 lbs to the county landfill on it, not all-at-once! I demo'ed a stucco shed ~12' X 14' my f.i.l. built, decades-ago. The floor/pad left, too, as it wasn't of any use to us.

Hey Driftpin. The outer ring is hammertone grey. Does look a lot like the primer. Hope nobody steals them.

Since my paint and body skills are depressing I thought I might put off working on tonneau cover.

Thankfully for my ADD, I knocked out a project I’ve been wanting to do for 5-6 years. Here’s what I started with. fcb247075925d77dbaf913d2f9408271.jpg The two bookshelves were hidden doors to the PO loft bathroom and I brought a new HF dolly. Took it a partd7cbe65cf6bae8fce3bac296d676f1e9.jpgCut dolly and some scrap plywood down and mounted to the two shelves. The finished (for now) clamp rack - one side. 06a798414b46c6c3964a72cc7920c698.jpgother side496ac461c4fead6fa095dccc936d0868.jpg

After seeing Jim Reed’s Wall Control panels, I order the starter set. After installing, they are a pretty nice product. 605538b1c9cc9104626b66e1077fc12f.jpg

Hey nice wood toolboxes! The roll-around clamp tower is a great idea too. I'm still kicking around ideas for where to store mine, but I really like that.

Looking good Shorty. Those dollies a cheap way to get casters.

Pretty soon, you’ll have the shop floor completely exposed and wide open.

I think I’ve figured out one issue for have multitude of projects. Instead of just doing it the simple two step way, I turn them into a big tasks.
Black Friday was spent at an estate sale picking up a like new compressor from a guy that has/had a 67 Cutlass. After paying for some 67 parts (why?), a 10’ ladder and compressor I needed a way to get them home. The trailer is still full from the apartment construction site goodies but was able to make enough room. 62818656017__41F8F306-8D09-4583-851E-11500A595886.jpg
After moving compressor by myself and a hand truck, I’ve decided more casters!!! After some eng-o-neering IMG_2005.jpg, I decided on a design.
Gathered up channel from old boat trailer and angle from copy camera turned my old work bench, I got to work. 62881524417__34BE0681-AC01-4571-97A8-843AEB0C61E6.jpgIMG_2017.jpg Jack is a little side welding project for a friend.
As I write this, I realize I could have been days ago if I’d drilled anchors and wired compressor like it was at PO shop.

This is very true and I fall victim to it as well. I'm constantly moving stuff around to get to other stuff and it really burns up time.

I just want to know how Craig is going scrounge flea markets and hunt for tools now that you have stolen his shopping cart....?

......And I’m still not done. On-the-fly Design changes equals more headaches and delays. Note to self, don’t disable existing thing until new thing is 100% ready for install.

Duker, his wife told me to take cart last time I was there. Lol.

Actually seeing yours is the reason I picked it up with the other stuff. Not sure if the conversion will happen anytime soon.

Jim I like the idea of the hoveraround.

Duker I might have to do that since I’m a member.

Well some more step forward step back and distractions. First the distraction. I had a leftover sandwich in frig and I was hungry. Microwave is up on the back loft. Ummm, maybe I should put up my repurposed swimming pool fence on the catwalk. I have cable but never installed it. Here’s catwalk. f8e929bb5ba36dd03cb93b0d94723b5b.jpg
Several 1/2” holes and some blood, I now have a safer catwalk. 83ea7fdebc3b38c5f5f38aaaf5d6aeaf.jpg15b3e057188ec8bb68daf489277782df.jpg nothing better than getting a finger pinched between a pole and 2x4 being hit with a mallet. 04c14336558c06438a6ae40c2eb681b7.jpg

Back to the dolly. Finished all the welding, installed the casters and moved it off the lift arms. Leveling screws helped with that part. 6fac183e060a357d60c323e562aa4b0e.jpg
Went to push and one wheel was stuck. With some investigating, my .030 tolerance I used everywhere will require making four 1/16” thick caster plate shims. Hope I get compressor operational by next year.

There is a rear loft and the catwalk connects it to the area above office and the front loft.
This back loft has a futon, ottoman, drafting table and shelf unit that holds a microwave and hot plate. The plan was to enclose this area and make it the man cave, a project that probably won’t become reality.

A benefit to the leveling screws is they can be built in jacks. 6971877cf19ca5e5b37ce5b8c5a4be92.jpg
I taped the casters spacers together so all the holes would be align correctly. Also made sure I used a bit that gives me wiggle room. lol fbd302688984dc9cdcd69a9a0188a150.jpg the vise comes in handy again. c4caed40ff37ee818fcdc9eb1cb76b84.jpg
Two hours later, dolly rolls without issue.
I’ve had this “thing” for awhile so made a tab and it makes pulling the compressor easy. I will add these tabs to other equipment. 8edf4de84669a3b7011485bf17da1350.jpg
Compressor is in place and runs quieter than old compressor. Going from 60 gal. 3hp, single stage to 80 gal. 5hp, two stage will be great. Still need to finalize a manifold to feed 3 different air lines. bbfe0a35085c47bf9037e19a4584304a.jpg

I just want to know how Craig is going scrounge flea markets and hunt for tools now that you have stolen his shopping cart....?

I used to use a cart at the flea market but threatened to ban me if I kept using it to block other guys from the tool tables.

Things have gone so smoothly around here since your visit.:lol_hitti

Please clue us in on any mishaps we didn’t hear about.

You mean since he left ? :lol_hitti

Of course!!

Looks good Shorty.

Don’t feel bad about trailer still having stuff in it, it’s been a year since I picked up two cabinets and there still on it.

The compressor cart looks great. I bet you are stoked to get that thing pumping some air.

I like that little dolly handle thingy too. No chance of pushing in the top of something tall and toppling it over. Safety first!!
