Nice job on the hubs.

What is your neighbors plan with their build?

Is your cement sealed at all?

Thanks.

I hope they use the detached garage to store all of the **** that is currently in their yard.

As for concrete, yes, I sprayed on some sealer back when it was originally poured. Not quite sure how much it's actually doing. I'm not 100% sure I'd do it again on the exterior concrete.

Inside the shop I can tell a difference if I wipe up a spill right away but if not it still soaks into the concrete and stains it. But then again, it's a working shop so I'm not losing sleep over a few stains in the floor.

Mike, is the neighbor planning on gutters on the near (to you) side of that building? That would be a lot of water run-off headed you way if not.

Just sayin'...

Not sure. I hope so but actually his floor in his shop is a few inches lower than my RV parking on the side of my shop so if he doesn't he should see more than I do.

I'd have to believe he has little choice in the matter. With all those structures that close, he has to route the water somewhere. Gutter to a drain is the only thing that makes sense to me here.

Blows my mind that there isn't snow covering the mountains and your yard. I lived in Mountain Green/Morgan area for a few years and it seems by November my yard was covered in snow and wasn't going away till Feb/Mar.

Yeah, winter is taking it's time this year. Last year it started on Thanksgiving day and didn't seem to stop until after New Year's. We are hearing on the news that we should see snow on the valley floor tomorrow morning though.

I have relatives in Mt. Green and spent a lot of time up there while growing up. My cousin had dirt bikes and I remember riding them up there in the gravel pits and surrounding areas.

My son mentioned he had a slight “clunk” noise in the front right corner of his truck the other night so he washed his truck and dropped it off at the shop on Thursday evening with the intentions of taking a look at it on Saturday morning.

The wife and I each had a couple of days of vacation that if we didn’t use we would lose which I would be damned if I was going to let that happen. Yesterday the wife and I took off and went for a drive.

Driving up over Logan Canyon we found ourselves smack in the middle of a winter storm.

We also found a couple of side trails to play on.
3c9aad679d4be974ab03677abb808da4.jpg

As we were on our way home our son called to let me know our DIL had a blowout on the freeway heading home from work. Thank God she wasn’t injured or caused an accident but the tire is trashed. With 50k miles on them he decided to replace all four so he asked if he could throw her car on the lift last night and then removed all four tires so we could have new ones installed first thing Saturday morning.

Today I went with him to have pick out some new tires. The DIL’s car with new shoes on it ready for winter.
821e11e8c0cd3910e478d953ec50a87f.jpg

While we were waiting for the tires to be mounted & balanced we put the front of his truck on jack stands and tire into his noise. Working on a lift sure spoils a person. I hate working on jack stands these days.

We found the bushings in his front brake caliper brackets were worn so a new hardware kit solved the problem.

Ready to reinstall.

While he was at it he swapped tires & wheels for his winter shoes.

Now to clean up the shop and call it a day.

We had a dusting of snow last night, but nothing too serious.

Easy fixes are always good!

What replacement tires did you guys use on the Subie?

I hear ya Marc. After all of the work we’ve done to his truck over the past month it was nice to have an easy fix.

As for tires on the DIL’s Subie, he installed a Les Schwab house brand. Looks like a nice all season tread pattern with a lot of siping for winter grip and channels to the outside for water.

My neighbor was able to get his shingles down on his shop just in time as we’re supposed to have snow tomorrow.

Didn’t get anything done in the shop tonight as I had to remove snow when I arrived home.

The consequences in having so much concrete. Good way to get your steps in the winter though!

Other way around. He had several of the 8 on 6.5” pattern the holes filled and OD turned down before bringing them to me. All I did was redrill the bolt pattern.

Mike, nice job on the hubs. One of these days I am going to learn how to use the DRO to set the spacing. It looks like an incredibly useful function!

You can have all of it Pat.

Although my son was telling his wife last night about some of our snowmobiling experiences and she said it sounds like so much fun.... I told the wife after they left that there is no way I'm going back and purchasing sleds again. No way in hell!

The bolt pattern/bolt circle function is really handy Duke. I've used it on many items and it is a worthwhile function to learn and add to your knowledge library. The DRO really is cheating though.:D

Knowing how much Mike loves the snow, that's funny!

Cheers, Mike! Summer is coming.

Thanks Steven, just not fast enough.:3gears:

Mike what you need to do is help convince your son and DIL to get a pair of sleds. Then you don't have to purchase or maintain, just ride theirs.
Free fun! well almost, or something like that.

That would make sense Justin but I've come to the conclusion as I age that I may not have made the best financial decisions earlier in life by purchasing some of our powersports/toys and I am trying to pass what I've learned on to my son so he can build wealth much faster than I.

We just need to get out and use the Jeeps more year round as we already have them and don't require additional purchases of depreciating assets.

When we were talking about our racing days last weekend she thought that sounded like fun and asked why we no longer race. I simply told her it costs too much and I don't plan on working my entire life as I would like to retire someday. Since getting out of racing in 2006 and selling all of our powersports (sleds in 2009 and sand toys in 2012) our net worth has steadily climbed and I have so much more time to do other things.

They are doing so well right now and able to put away some decent money each month I hate to see them jeopardize that by throwing money away. Besides, I know I'll be the one doing all of the work on them.:lol_hitti

Mike where is your sense of adventure?

Maybe you need one of these. My Brother just bought this from somebody in Salt Lake and it is shipping today.

No thanks Pat. Nowadays I'm more concerned about building a bank account from hell vs. purchasing more toys. Besides, I'm saving up for that next coach after we get the house paid.

I did however go and look at an older snowcat about two months ago. I took the wife to look at it and said I could add a bigger engine, cool paint job and some bad *** interior and it would be like a street rod for the snow and we could cruise around the mountains with it. She actually told me to go ahead and get it but then common sense kicked in and I thought by the time I'm done I'll be into it at least $20k and that same $20k would bring me more if invested so I quickly dismissed that idea and chalked it up as a close call.

I have to laugh Mike...but I get it.

I do the same thing...looked at 1967 Corvette Coupe, 427 Tri-Power Side Pipe Car on Saturday. 2nd Owner...The "Reality Check Light" came on.

But I did buy a Colt Thompson 1921 original (Tommy Gun) from the guy...

Pat that Vette is better than Money in the bank for a little while yet, I am not sure when or if the next generation is going to "Get" the car thing, all bets are off on that one! Harry P.S. With a lottery win I would build one from a catalogue, with an LS7 and LS9 top end and drive it to pieces!

2 Seater Snowmobile. Ski-Doo Elite. That is as much as I know about it.

The seller paid $3500 for it in 1968. He turned down an offer for $103500.00 Friday. I see that market as declining over the next few years. The Tommy Gun on the other hand...well that one will never go down and only up.

Besides the outlay of money for that thing, I'm not interested because I doubt it will be able to put high mark on anything other than a trailer.:lol_hitti

Mike my thoughts exactly.

But you know between the 2 of us and a little input from the rest of the GJ community it might just put the high mark where it belongs...

Mike, a snow cat would be fun, I'd even settle for a half track...just because.

Friday night and with the wife having to work a bit later than normal I figured I would finish clearing the snow from yesterday’s storm and then rack to Jeep to perform a LOF service.

15858791a705d51d3265710a13be685e.jpg

For 37” tires, these Nitto Ridge Grapplers are sure wearing good.

While I was installing the tires on my Jeep my neighbor stopped by the shop and asked if I could take a look at his snowblower as it was hunting pretty severely. I removed the carb, disassembled and cleaned it and found a partially restricted jet. He’s good to go for the next storm now.

I run those exact same 37 inch Nitto Ridge Grappler on my Jeep. Same good results for me. Wearing good and even.

Nice of you to help neighbor out. I always try to be a good neighbor helping mine out. Not always convenient, but building good relations.

Best thing to do nowadays is live within your means and pad your bank account. That’s exactly my game plan. Figure in 3 months I will have all three credit cards paid off as well the car. This year I want to also pay property tax in full when it comes due in June. This will free upwards of 1000 per month.

Good to hear yours are wearing well too Terry. I really like these tires but if I’m being honest I think the KO2’s did slightly better in the snow. Other than that these tires rock.

Happy to help a neighbor out here and there. I’m a little gun shy because at my last place I was taken advantage of and finally when I drew a line in the sand I quickly became the *******. I’d rather not go through that again.
