Eric O. has been using his for years without issue it appears. I imagine it's not an all day every day tool, but still.

I’ve been using an IR35MAX since it came out and it’s been reliable. I’ve pulled untold amounts of transmissions and done loads of under car work with mine. It lets me do all but the toughest work with a lightweight compact 1/2” impact. It performs about like I thought it would given its air motor and hammercase size. I’m surprised to hear that one doesn’t make more power. My instincts tell me mine is a little stronger than that unit he tested. I could actually hear the Astro was going to be stronger than the IR in that video.

Impact ratings lie, surprise surprise.
I can tell you my 35max ain't dreaming of 450. Put a swivel socket on it and it's basically a noise maker.
Idk why so many of these reviews sit and rattle on something for more than 5 seconds. If the gun cant move it in that amount of time, it's time to get a proper impact. I worked with a guy who used a 3/8 impact and flip sockets to remove lug nuts. Every single lug was 10 seconds of rattle and hammering.

I can't speak about the 35 max, but the newer 36 max is actually pretty good, and according to their specs stronger. Both are 1/2" drive.
Some of these stubby and compact impacts are very good .
Real stubby ones never much more than 300 but the compact ones can be in the 500 range which does 95% of my work and I don't want be using bigger/heavier tool unless need to .
Other issue is you need good air setup and most don't, soon as you around 70-80psi dynamic you lost a lot of ft-lbs .
The Astro 1823 was a more useful all round package as had bigger hammers but that got discontinued and did seem have some user complaints .
The Facom/Mac stubby and compact range (MAC MPF990501C, Facom NS2500G) is some of best hitting good all round design/power to size, ACT also have a stubby I like using .

I bought mine on Zoro with a coupon. Amazon has them as well. At the moment Amazon has two in stock. So there's no confusion use 36 QMAX for the search.
So is it 36MAX or 36QMAX the quiet one that's we're talking about, because the quiet ones are usually less power otherwise, correct?

There is no 36Max as far as I know, the 36QMAX is more powerful than the older 35MAX

That's correct. The model is 36QMAX, which comes up in searches if 36MAX is entered. My bad when I first posted.
