Here’s something you all don’t see to often.
A outbound load from my shop.
3dc678fa473592521b95d2dc70c27dce.jpg

Been getting off my *** lately and listing stuff that needs to get out of the way. Been doing pretty good last month or so. I’m particularly happy with the stands being sold, I’ve only moved them around in the shop about a hundred times.

The bagged items is a Craftsman 6”x48” combo sander.

I had the grinder stands listed on FB market place for a while and finally got a buyer who stuck. I offered up the second one and he accepted. Then I remembered the sander, sent some pics and he wanted it too.

So while chatting, the question of what else do you have, seeing he was setting up for woodworking, I offered up a old woodworking vise which he is also taking! More concrete exposed!

So I was clearing off the lower shelf yesterday on my pallet rack to make room for the height of one of the Vidmars I just picked up, took a couple of small vises and set them on the sander (flat surface) as it’s been sitting there two years untouched. Two hours later I sold the sander!

Anyway, trucking along towards getting in better shape.

Blasphemy! As penance you must acquire 10 things for every one that you sold.............
Don't worry, he will!! And he won't even have to be told twice to do it!

I'm looking forward to seeing what follows him home next.

Please refer to previous posts.:lol_hitti:lol_hitti

I need to at least go 10 out, 1 in for a while.

I really need to purge the shop and shed, it’s kinda stuffed.

Always hard to let things go.

Not really, these are things I bought building up the shop, then I upgraded, then I upgraded again. :bounce:
I’m gaining clear concrete space,

Don't worry, he will!! And he won't even have to be told twice to do it!

I'm looking forward to seeing what follows him home next.

I tend to work in the reverse, bring a load or so home, take a 1/2 load out.

I’ve set a list at least one thing per week move stuff I’ve been looking at for years, thinking, I need to list that.:D

Damn, how much did you get for the grinder stands ?
I had listed a single stand for $85 on market place, made a deal for $150 for both. He bought a small load from me, happy to deal.

If your looking for one, let me know.

Only 10? Guess he hasn’t mentioned the 50 things has brought home in the couple of months. [emoji12]

I can’t tell you everything I bring home, you’ll be scheming to remove

Just like a lot of us here, I’m trying to get serious, or at least the resemblance of it, in getting shop cleared where I can do things in it easily. I have all my major equipment, plenty of grinders and such, just need to get all where I can walk up and use.

I’m bad about coming across stuff, like the 70”x1-1/2” round plate to build a weld table with. I had another circle, but had the chance to buy this for scrap, so home it came. But how often do you come across these things?:dunno: Gotta grab when they present themselves.

I’m in the mode of backing off doing everything myself and just going to pay for and buy certain things, since I can’t buy time.

Three years ago I built a 18’x25’ annex shed to relive the shop, moved the shelving and couple carts to store not used daily stuff, set up the generator so it could be run during storms. Today it is full, the shop is fuller and the generator is still in the shop.

My company has been downsizing in preparation of moving, so lots of dumpster diving went on and went into the shed. It’s all good, some is earmarked for builds coming up, some stuff will be there when the family clears out after me, “why the hell does he have some many casters”? Somehow I’ll communicate from the grave that I had to keep my standing on the GJ.

I will keep up will selling and getting it down to where it’s reasonable because I’ve reached the point that I’m annoyed with it.

Like the saying goes, I want to work in the shop, not on it all the time.

Got some great plans in place and acting on, so get the popcorn and stand by!

Thanks for stopping by.

The paint can shaker I picked up last week needed a new cord. One thing is certain, if all the screws fell out, there’s plenty of paint to hold it together.

Pretty straight forward cord replacement.

Does it have the adapter for quart cans?

Sent from my ONEPLUS A6013 using The Garage Journal mobile app

Andrew,
Yes, actually two of them.
9626bd408d1b8e8b531a93b7e8e9b937.jpg
I want to see if I can fab a different hold down bar to accommodate spray cans. As you can see, won’t quite work as is now. That is a long Rust Oleum spray can.
3f6f14de9d8f1489168fbc39ffeceaa9.jpg
Here is a standard spray can.
8d16b739f11950fbeb6104388af3d900.jpg
I’ll need to figure a way to clamp down on the can.
I was thinking to build a plate that would fit in the quart can holder that has a recess the spray can to seat into for the bottom, on the top, something similar but with a hole for the nozzle.

Those rattle cans say shake for a minute before use... a minute is a long time when you're actually doing it! It would really be nice to have something to do it for me and I've considered building the sawzall adapter you see on the internet, but too many other projects are in front of it.

It sure would be nice to have a dedicated machine like yours that does all sizes of cans. Good find!

Another load out of the shop.

Loading this piece of 1” plate, I couldn’t quite get it lay flat long enough to go back truck under, so I just did some simple balancing on it.
0cfe4fcc12fac831ad98135924564605.jpg
The plate was a couple inches longer than I had bed space behind tool box.
My little balance weight was perfect to help get the perfect angle of slope under the box.
I just kept moving it towards the center and wait for plate to stabilize.
Be damn glad when I get the trolley beam in place! I’ll have about 9’ of travel for stuff like this.

You could bring me that 1" plate, I dont have one

Sent from my SM-A102U using The Garage Journal mobile app

It was going to be a 3’x4’ welding table, downsized from the 4’x8’ that I have now.

That was until I came across the first round piece of plate, then a second, and finally the 70” 1-1/2” round plate. I’m starting to feel steel plate is to me like what Suburbans are to Strouty.:lol_hitti

You have me beat on the round plates, I don’t think I have any. :( Time to find some! ;)
I have one for you. Just pay shipping or pick up in Florida. 1 1/4 thick and about 40" diameter.
P. S. Bring knuckle boom to it's heavy.

I would take it, just dont know how to get it here,

Sent from my SM-A102U using The Garage Journal mobile app

Jim, it’s coming back, just not in the same form, kinda like a neutered dog.

I’m not getting of any steel, specially plate like that, won’t have the opportunity to get anymore.

I’ll post later on what its future life will be.

Two stamps should get it.

Can you imagine showing up at the post office with that? They give me **** about 35 lb flat rate boxes, which are good to 70lbs.

What about a hoist magnet? (McMaster link)

If I was handling on a regular basis, I’d definitely invest in one, it’s the only way to go.

I bought these from my company for scrap, always thought I’d never come across any, then I spotted some at my favorite scrap yard.

We didn’t have a knuckle boom getting it there:bounce:

If I show up and say my name is Stroudy, can I have it?

Being he’s never met either of you, you might pull it off, especially if you show up in a Astro van!:lol_hitti:lol_hitti

Now how did Strouty get in on this.

The 1” I loaded up was to take to a fab shop to have cut with a plasma cutter. I could do with a torch, but I’m really trying to keep moving on other things and not spend the time on this much cutting.

I set the plate on 4x4s so they could get under it with forks. That was fun. There forks only made in so far and the plate teetered, so I jumped in the truck and stood on the plate to balance it( being doing this a lot lately), took over directing the fork lift operator and finally got it out of truck without ripping the tool box out.

I’m building a stand for the Reed I picked up last month and this will be the base and vise mount.

Here’s what I’m doing.
The larger one will be the base, the black rectangles will be openings for the casters to go through. The smaller will be the mount for the vise.
2caba43ce2e32d406b5a3c9183dc4782.jpg

So, I’m getting stuff going on the stand and I got a chunk of plate out of the way. What’s left I’ll be able to maneuver on a hand truck.

While the plate is being cut, I started on the the short Vidmar cabinet.
This will live in the shed and hold the smaller pieces of steel, aluminum, stainless , etc. I’m aiming to to keep all drops and smaller stuff in one spot.
I had made plates for casters for a cab that I used to have, but the new owner gave them back, guess he thought they were substandard.
I was going to do a quick slam the plate on the bottoms while cab was hanging from lift, but a PO had cut the rails off the bottoms and left like this.
6adb6ea5c2b5d18e4efa91e84c6c6af0.jpg
So, pull all the drawers out and flip it over.
The rails must of been riveted on.
a02c447ffb5d38a000f64d61e5295006.jpg
The air hammer made quick work of cutting the rivets and prying what was left of the rails off cab.
bb9fd49cd431896a911d02297b63c83c.jpg
I thought it was cool that I used the air hammer that was in the cab when I bought.

It was 85° here today, the dog knows how to stay cool.

Plates on and welded.
0e23dff4c0516e2c51645b8e33967ea9.jpg
Casters mounted and black racing stripe on the bottom, I’m almost ready to go. These are the casters I bought at the scrap yard for $5.40!

You can as far as I am concerned. Actually I should offer it back to Craig. It was the first piece he gave me for a welding table. But then came up with a better piece and the table was made from that.

Got the short Vidmar done and in place.
d744de47bb9f2a99a700afbf46ca0ae5.jpg
One of the racks just gave me a fit, it was “racked” out of square.I clamped to the welding table and got it back where it belonged.
5d32874c804541c58b679b31ea5aa2ec.jpg

The drawer still wouldn’t go into the cab all the way, had to really slam it and then it would not extend all the way out without force.
I kept swapping drawers, racks, positions to no avail.I pulled it out to compare and just look over, again. The only thing I found was a tab bent over in the very back of the rack. Straightened it out and drawer was smooth as silk.
Here it is in place under the pallet rack.

Strouty, he’s a little slow at times.

A new project done and dusted in just days! Congrats, you get the FC Man of the Month award. Unfortunately it’s the March 2022 because Mark and Mack have the next 11 months already sew up.

Well I (with the help of my wife) built my 26x36 garage in 2014 then in '18 added a 12'x24 lean-to, all to sort of resemble a buggy stable to house my '78 F-350, my '86 Ford 1910 diesel wheelborrow, my new fishing inflatable and my recent cart buggy leaving enough space to wear my many different hats for my '78 total cab off resto, customizing my cart buggy and woodworking hobbies.
Truly my place to hang out and play.

Just some eye candy.
Seen at one of my industrial clients.
It’s a remote location and I use the RR when I’m there, RR is in the shop and I always divert to look at the table.
