Lots of shells in the lake, I didn’t cut myself yet, but I need my water shoes for sure.
I am about to head to bed, been another long day and I am sore.

I just woke up, about 10 hours last night, yeah! The cooler for the mattress is working awesome, tomorrow the temps really start to rise, by Monday night I should know how well it works when it is really hot and humid. I am strangely looking forward to it, I usually dread the heat, this could be a game changer for me. The only thing so far that I have noticed is that my head is cooler feeling than my body, to make things perfect, I would prefer a bit cooler on my body and a bit warmer on my head, only way I have seen to make that happen is to have two coolers. I was thinking I could also try something with the plumbing, maybe setup the pillow so it is just using the return water instead of splitting it off to get the chilled water directly from the cooler. I don’t know if that would cause an issue, but I think it might be worth a shot, then I can turn the temps down a bit and see what happens. Pretty sure I will have to order more fittings and get some more hose to make that happen, but it is worth the effort for this experiment.

That's a pretty interesting setup. I'd try adding another pillow case or something first before I started ordering parts.

I am not sure how adding another pillow will work, if you get too many hoses and connections it will mess with the pump. The parts are cheap enough, so I will try my experiment, just have to wait for them to be delivered, of course I have to order them first.....

I am headed out, going to buy a leaf blower, after using my Brother's I can see I should have owned one a long time ago. Then I have to go and unload the dump trailer, then a few more errands, then go get the dock sections for Monday. I am not sure what I am doing after that, but I am sure there will be something. ;)

I still think you're right, but for the cost of a pillow case, I'd try it. Don't cheap out on the leaf blower. A good one saves so much work, where a cheap almost adds to it. And you don't need more work.

I bought a sthil 800 CE, you can start it from your back with an easy pull, it has some sort of torque multiplier that allows you to pull much gentler than normal. I can’t wait to use it, supposed to be quieter, with more flow too.

I just picked up the dock sections for Monday, now I am headed to the Salvage Garage to check in on the place.

Years ago when I worked landscaping I always thought it would be a great idea to be able to start the backpack while wearing it. There was so many times throughout the day of clean ups that I would have to turn it off such as talking to customers, pulling a full tarp, moving fragile stuff out of the way, etc. 95% of the time I would just walk over to one of the other guys and they would start it or they would come to me to start their backpack. It was way easier especially since I had found that wearing the backpack very tight dramatically reduced it’s tolls on the body from weeks of clean ups. Well when it’s 5 degrees out and your wearing multiple layers I would pull the straps to tighten past the clothes. With that random story now told I still bought a new redmax backpack last year because it’s what I’m used to and I’m only using it for my yard.

Could you put an extra pillow case or sheet on the pillow and then turn down the temperature for your body?

Back when I did landscaping, we had a Shindawa backpack that you could reach behind, grab the handle, pull, and it would start. BH38, you're right, it's a major annoyance.

They do have electric start ones, but I just figured it would end up being stupid for me since I don’t use it all the time. Besides this setup feels pretty nice, so hopefully it will work out well for me.

as for the pillow case, I put a thicker blanket over it and it did not help enough, I am not keen on having a crazy thick pillow case either. I already have to swap out the pillow as the cooler temps don’t allow the foam to compress down like it did with my hot melon on it…..

I also hate to say this, but I think I just bought another parts truck. I am able to trade some of my parts towards it as well, cutting down the expense, it has some great parts that will be for Perk 2.0 so nothing I need right this second, but that has never stopped me before, so why mess with a good thing? I can hear Kev right now….. ;)

I am going to look at it on Wednesday, It has some really good parts, but that is about it, but the guy is a very knowledgable person and I want to see what things look like. There are lots of things that he has done that are really time consuming. I don't think I can use the frame, so I am basically buying two axles, a transfer case, some driveshafts, and tires/rims. The transfer case is a tough one to find and if you do find it, expensive to buy. The axles are essentially the same as what I currently have, tires and wheels are nothing special. He has a super heavy duty steering setup and that is where most of the time has been spent. He is willing to take some of my tires and rims from the 5 ton trucks in trade, he is asking $9900 and said he would give $2100 for the tires and wheels, then he said if I don't want the cab, we can discuss that too. If I can get things down a bit more or if he throws in some more parts, I will be comfortable with the deal. To me the transfer case is the real score, but he won't separate it. No matter what, I am going to look at it and meet the guy in person, he also has some serious skills when it comes to allison transmissions and I want to discuss that further. He may be able to tune the transmission in OMO so that it has all six gears and it will register the new gear ratio I want to use, that will be worth meeting him, regardless of what happens with the roller chassis deal.

He had an 8.1 built Chevy engine with an Allison automatic, I am not sure why he decided to sell it, but he had over 50 trucks and essentially decided to sell all but four. Maybe I will learn something from him? He also told me about a guy that will buy military parts, like the old planetary axles and the old 5 Ton axles we have, that could be a good thing.

I have to setup another couple AC units at the house (swapping one), then I will head to the Hill and setup a second one there as well. Then I am going to try and get a few of my things done for a change.

I turned the temp of the bed down one degree and was able to sleep fine, really well actually. I can’t wait for the heat to set in for a real test, of course the second AC unit might offset the heat in the house enough so it won’t really matter, either way, I am sleeping very well, last night I was on my back all night, with a blanket over me, not one bit of sweat or overheating. I usually roll from one side to the other trying to overcome the heat that gets created, if I stay on my back (pre cooler nights) I would wake up all sweaty.

I must have been tired last night, I switched the ceiling fan off in the bedroom with the light, so I made it through last night without the fan too, that is pretty amazing for me. ;)

AC units are all setup, getting ready to head out, need to pickup stuff at Home Depot and then I am going to the Hill to setup another AC unit. Hopefully I can get something done after lunch, two things that have been bugging me, Perk still needs the air lines repaired from some damage I caused a few weeks back and I need to get the Lista adjustable feet situation finalized, at least I have a plan for that.

I got the last AC unit setup at the Hill, still need to plug up the holes in the opening for the window, for now I am thinking furniture blankets, then I can decide what I am doing later. I have to say it is pretty humid outside and it is pretty humid in the shop, so I may some errands that I had planned for another day to keep myself out of the heat as much as possible. Tomorrow will be even worse, close to 100 with high humidity, at least we will be at the lake and can cool off while putting the dock together.

Dude, it's like a used truck buffet? Just skip to the desert line.

I should be building them. I am not sure that I am actually going to buy this parts truck, if I do, it will be for the transfer case and axles. I think the guy will be a good contact regardless of if I buy it or not, especially since he can reprogram the Allison transmissions.

That's insane. I thought that Maine was a fairly cool (temp wise) state. Those kind of temps are rare in Michigan.

Well, at first we thought the dock was going to be a problem, two of the leveling jacks were so old and corroded that they broke, leaving us without any way to easily adjust that area. We worked around it, so there is a slight uphill angle to start with, but it came out pretty nice for sure. I am probably going to expand it even more, but not until next year.

We broke many all time heat records over the last three days in Oregon, yesterday was 115 in Boring Or.
That's about 50 degrees above the average for this time of year.
Too F hot!
