That's a pretty interesting setup. I'd try adding another pillow case or something first before I started ordering parts.
Years ago when I worked landscaping I always thought it would be a great idea to be able to start the backpack while wearing it. There was so many times throughout the day of clean ups that I would have to turn it off such as talking to customers, pulling a full tarp, moving fragile stuff out of the way, etc. 95% of the time I would just walk over to one of the other guys and they would start it or they would come to me to start their backpack. It was way easier especially since I had found that wearing the backpack very tight dramatically reduced it’s tolls on the body from weeks of clean ups. Well when it’s 5 degrees out and your wearing multiple layers I would pull the straps to tighten past the clothes. With that random story now told I still bought a new redmax backpack last year because it’s what I’m used to and I’m only using it for my yard.I bought a sthil 800 CE, you can start it from your back with an easy pull, it has some sort of torque multiplier that allows you to pull much gentler than normal. I can’t wait to use it, supposed to be quieter, with more flow too.
I just picked up the dock sections for Monday, now I am headed to the Salvage Garage to check in on the place.

Back when I did landscaping, we had a Shindawa backpack that you could reach behind, grab the handle, pull, and it would start. BH38, you're right, it's a major annoyance.Years ago when I worked landscaping I always thought it would be a great idea to be able to start the backpack while wearing it. Dude, it's like a used truck buffet? Just skip to the desert line.I am going to look at it on Wednesday, It has some really good parts, but that is about it, but the guy is a very knowledgable person and I want to see what things look like. There are lots of things that he has done that are really time consuming. I don't think I can use the frame, so I am basically buying two axles, a transfer case, some driveshafts, and tires/rims. The transfer case is a tough one to find and if you do find it, expensive to buy. The axles are essentially the same as what I currently have, tires and wheels are nothing special. He has a super heavy duty steering setup and that is where most of the time has been spent. He is willing to take some of my tires and rims from the 5 ton trucks in trade, he is asking $9900 and said he would give $2100 for the tires and wheels, then he said if I don't want the cab, we can discuss that too. If I can get things down a bit more or if he throws in some more parts, I will be comfortable with the deal. To me the transfer case is the real score, but he won't separate it. No matter what, I am going to look at it and meet the guy in person, he also has some serious skills when it comes to allison transmissions and I want to discuss that further. He may be able to tune the transmission in OMO so that it has all six gears and it will register the new gear ratio I want to use, that will be worth meeting him, regardless of what happens with the roller chassis deal.
Tomorrow will be even worse, close to 100 with high humidity, at least we will be at the lake and can cool off while putting the dock together.
