$40 vs $94.

The $54 extra for neon green handles really was money well spent on those scrapers.

🍻

Maybe my point was missed. I HATE the green handles and would much prefer the red but after holding a co-workers red handled Lisle scrapers I decided they felt too cheesy to me. They felt like the two halves were not matched as they were pressed together and the seam line was something a 4-year old probably could have done better. For me that $54 for a better quality tool was worth it. I could have had red handled scrapers and been pleased opening my toolbox and seeing the red handled tool but then when I grabbed it to use I would be pissed. To each their own but I felt the Matco's were a better scraper.

Those are some large rotors there in the middle. Are you in the plumbing bis or DIY? Curious as I have been looking at redoing my old house with Uponor pro PEX.
I'm a GC, we have our own mechanical company but the work we do you can't use pex. I bought the set up for my own use, between my house, my sons house, my mothers house, a couple rental properties I figured it would pay for it's self in no time. I like the expansion pex as it gives you larger diameter fittings then the crimp or cinch style, the collars are cheap & it's fast, the cinch style is ok but the the crimp style you need to check with a go no go gauge, which just adds time & maybe a leak. I pressure test every install at 120 psi to make sure & so far the expansion connections have never leaked. I use pex A seems to be the most flexible with little or no memory, also offers a certain amount of freeze protection, we have a vacation house upstate that I plan on repiping soon with pex just in case. The rotors are for a transit 250, ford finally put in decent brakes.

Just ordered a Dewalt SDS drill bare tool and it came with a "free" 5.0Ah battery from HD.

So I picked it up last night and realized it wasn't exactly what I thought. It's SDS Plus and not a regular SDS. So after some thinking, I decided to keep it rather than taking it back.

The max drill size "should be" 5/8". I'll be using this for tapcon holes and drilling for 1/2" rebar. I have a larger Hilti rotary hammer drill that is corded for the big stuff.KIMG1576.JPG

SDS bits will work in the SDS+ drill. The SDS+ has some extra splines to hold on to the bits better.

I've never held the Lisle scrapers, but the handles do look horribly crude in the pictures- so I haven't purchased them. Thanks for confirming how poorly the handles are made; I'll look elsewhere if I decide to add to the scraper collection.

The old Hilti I have has the larger SDS and the new Dewalt has the smaller 3/8" (I think) shank size. It's not a big deal now that I have the bits.

Typical GJ fashion, buy one tool and have to buy more as accessories.

Spring tools centre punch.

Nicely made, and appears to work very well. Hits a lot harder than my cheap/generic auto punch, but not as quick and easy to use.

Reasonably priced on US Amazon. Shipping was an extra $7 to UK.
Nice! Those are a blast to use!

Expanding my horizons into dovetail joints. Have a number of projects that I will use dovetails on. My old Craftsman router met its demise falling to the concrete floor. Hope the Dewalt lasts as long as the craftsman did.

It is a local industrial supply that bought a metric **** ton of SK back in the Facom days. Over the years I have bought a lot of it. I have found NOS Bonney, SK, Facom, Blackhawk, Cleveland Twist Drill...
Just checked out their website. Looks like a great place to buy. Thanks for sharing.

Got my portable bandsaw SWAG table set up today. Made a couple of templates to possibly make a replacement table insert.KIMG1574.JPGKIMG1573.JPG
If you want it to cut straight take a look at how I made it so I can move the guide block.
Also please keep us updated on your new insert.

Thanks, with UPONOR pex is type A, it's an international company based in Finland and that's what I have my eye on.

New 4.4lb Adler splitting maul, apparently hand forged in Germany with a USA hickory handle (not sure I believe this, but it's a brilliant tool).

I think this is the sweet spot for my size/strength, it's a lot easier to swing and steer than my 8lb maul. Just split a few oak rounds and they came apart beautifully.

Funny, that's how I felt with the Lisle scrapers. Coworker would rave about using carbon scrapers so I bought them but hated the feel of the handle (which is kind of important when trying to not gouge gasket mating surfaces). Realized I was back to using razorblades so sold the Lisles.

Ordered the Matco set to give it another go.(y)

I will be interested in your thoughts on the Matco ones.

Also, if anyone has the Mueller Kueps carbide scrapers, I would be interested in their opinions as well. I am told that is who is making the Matco carbide scrapers and by looking at them as well as the packaging, they sure look nearly identical.

A quick look and it appears Titan is also selling the Mueller Kueps scrapers (standard and XL version) with a black handle. I usually would've taken the time to see who Matco sourced them from, but was a few barley pops deep and was an impulse buy after work.

Why wouldn't you believe that's how it was made? Regardless, that handle has some nice looking coloring to it. I got an old USA maul cheap at an antique store and didn't realize how useful it is

I can't find it on the adler website and the head design looks identical to some Chinese ones. But honestly, I don't really care because it's a nicely made thing and works perfectly.

I saw the Titans a few days ago when this came up and I went searching; I wasn't sure if they were the same as the MK. The Titan handles look much better than Lisle and the price is about the same for the two pieces.
