On Friday, I made a quick run to a couple sales before the wife and I got out of town for a bit. I was really looking forward to the first sale, but, despite the shear volume of stuff (old Catapillar, clocks by the mile, lathes, secret rooms, etc.) it was a bust:
Some Stanley bits, soldering helper, and a pipe. $3.
And I wasn't planning to hit the second sale, as there was one closer to home, which I wasn't too much interested in. But the only sale that showed pics of hand tools laid out wasn't too much further away, so I figured I would push my luck. And I am glad I did.
The first thing I saw of interest in the garage were these three wooden drawers, priced at $10 for the trio

so I snapped those up. And then I saw a little, sad toolbox sitting off to the side, no price on it though... Popped it open, and figured I would ask for a volume deal:

Picked up a couple of other things, a Bonney socket box, and ratchet, and a Williams socket, and got a total of $18.
The drawers, once I got a good chance to take a look at them, had a few interesting things in them; a few Blue Points dies, Hibbard chisels, Stanley 4" square body, lamp parts, etc. Not bad, and they will go nicely below my bench.

But that toolbox, that was packed!

There was an almost complete set of Mustang 1/2" and 1/4", most of a Bonney 1/2" set, Armstrong, Willams, Plomb, Proto, Craftsman, too much Taiwan, and assorted other things, including a partial Chrome Alloy (SK) 1/4" set. I am still sorting it all out.

It was an odd sale. There was an Atlas wood lathe from the '30s, but they wanted $600. On the other hand, a Craftsman bandsaw from the same time period was only $40. The stuff in the house was priced competitively, but any and all tools were all over the place.
