I need to do this! I have near the some collection of yard tools and they piss me off falling over and stacked in a corner like sticks!

Here's something I put together a few years back, to store garden tools, etc...Some French Cleats to keep the garden tools and such off of the floor.

Blackbird sighting. Nicely doneNot like I invented or planned this but I love my cubby shelf I picked up at a garage sale several years ago for unusual stuff that doesn't fit have a particular tool drawer. Fits the rustic workshop thing I was going for with the garage too.
You must be a Distributor. While cleaning the shop I kept finding distributors, mostly small block Chevy (SBC). So I whipped up a couple of shelves to hold them. Just 2x4's and plywood with 1 3/8" holes. They are attached to my wheel racks which hold mostly mags but some early Ford. And above the wheels are seven pairs of SBC valve covers. Please ignore the 1966 BSA gas tank with the ugly lace paint job.

The big issue with the vertical storage is I need to remake it everytime I add a bit. I really like the vertical storage but will try this, at least for now.Nice. You could create more storage space in that drawer by setting the two larger bits end to end and return the shorter bits to vertical storage among/alongside the larger bits.
Yes, the crooked labels are more than cause to replace the shelf.Good because the crooked labels on the 2-3/8" and 3" ones were pinging the hell out of my OCD! Lol
When I had my garage built, I reinforced the walls where I was going to hang things like ladders and put heavy stuff. i measured to make sure where it was beefed up so after the drywall was installed, I had things like I wantedSo many bright people around here and nothing to add? Que Paso?!
Do you mean you added blocking between the studs? How did you you reinforce the walls? I agree that just hanging stuff on drywall is a gamble. When I had my garage built, I reinforced the walls where I was going to hang things like ladders and put heavy stuff. i measured to make sure where it was beefed up so after the drywall was installed, I had things like I wanted

Any idea how the mechanism works? We can hear it but it is not shown. Pretty clever.I like to think that this is pretty neat.
Looks like an electric winch with a series of pullies.Any idea how the mechanism works? We can hear it but it is not shown. Pretty clever.
Pretty cool. Just gotta make sure you keep the fuses in the bottom row.
Any chance you can take a picture of the backside showing the cable and pulley routing?Correct.
Control switch is in conduit on the wall now. Cable runs from the winch mounted at the ceiling, down the wall to a pulley to change direction and around a pulley on the panel and back to an anchor point on the wall.
That neat. But I wonder how long before he gets sick of the wait and noise and just grabs a ladder to grab a bolt.
