One down 5 togo. 4ft wide by 36in high, 2ft deep.
All repurposed Lumber and officially wiped out of Lumber now. Think I will only need 6 more 2x4s to finish the other 5. Have shelves and 2x4 ripped for those done. Need more legs and not hing them... the time consuming part.
2.5 sheets of 1/2in ply and 2x4s
Ripped 2x4s in half for under the shelves to stretch it out.

Going on 2 weeks vacation starting next week. So to answer the question "What did you do "IN" your garage today?" I'd say: contemplating what I will do in the garage the next 2 weeks! Between naps, of course.

And these showed up, Two 1/2in drive 12mm sockets from Capri Tools. I can stick these in the rear wheel eccentrics & use them as spools to lift the rear wheel with my PitBull stand.

I don’t have a solid reason why, but that scares me..lol Is there no place for a spool to thread in? I though that bike had a center stand?

It kinda scares me too... No threaded doodads for spools.
The idea is that they would get the rear wheel up a bit higher.. which would then allow the front wheel to be raised & removed via a jack under the exhaust collector. Some guys put the bike on the mainstand on a piece of 2x12. With my compression fractures & other spine issues I need help just getting on the mainstand as it is.
I may get a stand from Horrible Fright etc that has the pads that go under the swing arm. Next time I have the lower fairings off (in the next few days) I'm going to check if I can use my shortest jack stands under the engine cradle after I jack it up *a bit*. I'm not sure the HF stand is wide enough.. or strong enough... this bike is ******** heavy.

I may use the socket-spools to get the bike higher up in the air & then stick some wood under the mainstand.

If I'm understanding how the pit bull stand works, just add a stop so the sockets can't back out when the stand is on them -I doubt its even needed, but as insurance. I assume the stand fits pretty snug to the swingarm?

35hp Johnson mil-spec with a propulsor instead of a prop. Popped the newly rebuilt carb on and 2 new plugs to test run it. Got the idle speed set good enough for now but the fuel mixture was a little rich on oil and it'll need a new thermostat as it's not getting up to temp.

What did I do in the garage today? I cut wood for a project I’ve been neglecting for 8 months.

When I bought my place in 2019, I purchased all new appliances (washer/dryer, range, microwave).

When I left, the woman took the microwave down, I suppose because the cabinet was not in the greatest condition.

So I took down the remaining cabinetry, and gathered some scrap wood I had laying around.

It’s not EXACTLY how I wanted it to be, but I was limited on wood, and didn’t want to buy more wood, as I am going to be remodeling the kitchen soon, to include new cabinets. This is a fix that’ll get me by until then. So it doesn’t have to be pretty.

Not bad for scrap wood.

I finally have my counter space back!

And yes the microwave is decently level. Though everything around it is not LMAO.

Big job today. Been out running all over most of the day, last stop was TSC where I scored a 5pk of small hitch pin clips. One of which replaced the cheap & undersized cotter pin in the brake torque arm on the ZX11... added bonus that the size & finish on it matches the Ping!Fuckits on the rear axle. Will be fitting one of the others to the same location on the ZRX11

After I posted about my mini split install, I looked at the picture I posted. I decided to paint the brick foundation because it looked bad. That's better now.

Spent the day at a recently vacated rental managing a crew of five as they were washing windows, repairing screens, cleaning appliances and touching up the paint on walls and door frames.

Installed the 3.5" lift kit on the new to me Jeep Wrangler Rubicon. Tomorrow is wheel and tire day, Bead lock wheels and 37"
tires and then a winch install. This was actually not in my garage, but a friends nice shop with a vehicle lift. What a back saver that was.

Emptied the old gas & rust chunks out of the generator gas tank, put the tank back on, and installed a new shut off and fuel line to the carb. Put new fuel line and a filter on the new-to-me rototiller. Got the riding mower out to mow the lawn. Milled some grain to brew a wheat beer this afternoon.

Front passenger side turn signal bulb went out on the Dart. I had to get my daughter to come out and fit her hands in the spot to change it because I couldn't get it. Saved me from having to remove the airbox to replace it.

Cleaned out the freezer yesterday and then cleaned up the freezer. Looks pretty good for being in a garage for 20 years. Monitored it today to make sure I didn't do anything to make it quit. It seems to be fine. I cleaned up an old custom Honda 750 rear hub that was made in the 70s. It needs vapor blasting or extensive polishing to really get it back to its' former glory.

I like the idea of using it just to get it where you want it, then using the center stand on wood blocks.

That would make me feel a little safer.

I got a burst of motivation, went back out to the garage & did about another 4 hours work on the ZX11.
Pulled both lower fairings.
Dropped the oil filter assembly to fit the washer that was missing when I bought it... & remained missing when I did the oil & filter change last week.
Put that all back together, added the oil that came out of the filter housing.
Fired it up, Ops Check ok.
Did some more cleaning on the engine,
Put the lower fairings back on with more of the new hardware (14 more Allen screws)

Tomorrow I'll check all the fasteners, clean & wax the fairing etc. Noticed a spot of the front fender that possibly needs paint correction. & mess with the idle, altho that appears to be sorting itself out.

I put away a lot of tools from an estate sale. Also cleaned and straightened up too. Need to do more of that but being on vacation this upcoming week I’ll probably have no motivation to do that lol. Especially since I’m probably bringing home another vehicle by the end of the week as long as everything goes well. Wish me luck on the Blazer I want it so badly. Going to try and get a loan on Monday.

Put the 68 Bus to work and got a dozen cheep 2x4 studs from Lowes. Surprisingly straight and I didnt need to dig through the whole pallet for 12 good ones.
Finished 2 more shelves. Going with 4ft high on last 3 of the batch. No pics same as before...
Swept up the mess in wood shop garage, called it quits.

Cut a longer piece of vacume hose for the Sportster, put a little fuel in the tank, and test ran the bike with the new petcock.

Fixed the end of a busted water hose.

Wired up a repeater for the tpms on the travel trailer and then went back and added a 5 amp fuse in case the wires rub. I tried to provide decent strain relief, but you never know.

Was a bit wore out from fixing the sprinkler in the yard earlier in the day, so probably won't do much more today.

We lost another chicken, so the kids are a little bummed.

Also a suggestion, with a light setting on an impact gun, bang it "tight" for a few hits, before trying for "loose".

You may have already tried this, just thought I'd thrown it out there as I just faced semi-frozen bleed screws on my Ram.

I also took a wire brush to whatever threads were exposed, and then reapplied penetrating oil.

I hate stuck bleeder screws, especially since I'm in the rust belt...
I should have bought a lottery ticket that day. As a "one more try" last tesort I gave it a yank in the tightening possition and quickly in reverse. I'll be darned if it didn't come loose! Pure luck as I'd already tried that twice and was just about to try your suggestion.

After hanging the microwave yesterday, I decided to fix the junk drawer. Junk as in it was falling apart and junk as in it was full of useless junk and trash.

Got it glued and clamped. Been clamped for about 2 hours, and now I’m about to unclamp it (wood glue bottle said 30 minutes. I like overkill lol).

So since cleaning out the drawer, that sparked a “make it enough” week. I lamented in a previous post that I had not enough to justify a dump run. So, I went through the house and garages again, and decided to really think about what I’m keeping. I make decent enough money I don’t need junk. I’m talking pans with peeling Teflon when I have stainless replacements, shelf for a fridge I gave to the scrap guy, etc etc.

Anything questionable will be tossed if I have a replacement already, or if it’s beyond useable/no need for it.

I’ll be doing this all week throughout the house and garages, to make enough for a dump run lol.

Trying to save a plugged up radiator. I mounted it to a bearing. Put a gallon of distilled vinegar in it. Will slosh it around for a week and see what comes out.
I know it’s not recommended for aluminum, but I’ve had good luck using CLR Rust and calcium remover in a few aluminum radiators. They may even have a formula made for aluminum now?

So I bought a Honda lawn tractor because... well I'm an idiot. I have no use for this thing but I liked it and I have a thing for Hondas. Got it 'cheap' because it didn't start. "The key got stuck so we replaced it but it still won't start".
286139084-8070540206296986-881727214507436023-n.jpg

Heh. Put it up just to look. Very sketchy - do not do this.
20220630-122024.jpg

Realize the starter itself is nuked. Know how you get the starter out of a Honda tractor? Pull the motor and flywheel; The starter bolts in from behind the flywheel. Yo, really Honda? Really??
20220702-172203.jpg

20220705-163302.jpg

20220703-112520.jpg

Finally get the new starter from Amazon. I had to go aftermarket because Honda wants twice what I paid for the tractor for a new one. I had to reposition the solenoid, clock the motor body 180°, and swap out their 14ga starter wire for the OEM 8 gauge one.
20220708-224630.jpg

And now it runs again. During the repair I found a guy selling spare parts about an hour away. From the spares I changed the rubber driveshaft coupler out (mine was worn), replaced the failed brake pads, and found... a spare starter.
