They actually work quite well. One side has some soft fingers to keep the eggs from jostling so much - I can only recall one cracking ever, and that's over some pretty rough roads.
That means a lot comnig from you Lugz! I shall make more of an appearance like older days! I have been picking still every weekend and have some stuff to post. It'll be a little later when I upload the newest hauls. Digging around in my Tool Bedroom for those Packard pliers, I realized I have 4 big cherry picked boxes full of the good stuff I've found the last year or so. I will post one thing real quick along with those pliers to kick it off!Love the Oilzum clock and the flamboyant pontoon fenders on that red pedal car.
Nice to "see" you, Rags! (Newcomers should not be fooled by the modest tone - one of our best and most prolific pickers ever!)
Where's the rubbing-my-hands-together-with-glee-in-anticipation emoticon?!I realized I have 4 big cherry picked boxes full of the good stuff I've found the last year or so. I will post one thing real quick along with those pliers to kick it off!
Makes sense. I don’t camp, so I hadn’t considered that.Every camping/hunting trip; and the cardboard cartons don't do well wet.

I don't know...if you round up to the nearest whole day...then he equaled my previous period of garage sale abstinence. It seems to be the limit for how long we pickers can stay away...Well, we only had two players, or four, if you really stretch the normal rules of a pool. And we didn't do too well!
BB was over...
I was way over...
Southern83 was over and unspecified.
ecotec's reply, which was to BB, whose pick was 6, maybe came the closest if one was being very lenient, since "Not even" qualifies as less than 6.
That quantifies as a "YOU ****!"Thought I'd create a new post for this one, I picked up a machinist's chest on Offerup the other day. I'd actually seen it a few days earlier and saw a number of Snap on pieces including some hard handle ratchets but it was priced really high so I didn't pursue it. A couple days later the seller dropped the price down to $70 so I messaged him.
One of the things I've learned with Offerup in particular is to qualify my offer with a statement saying that my offered price is only valid if everything in the pics is included. For whatever reason the Offerup guys tend to sell bits and pieces out of boxes and not update the photos.
When I met this seller I took the time to look through the box pretty carefully as I didn't want to be the victim of a bait and switch. Sure enough, the hard handle ratchets and several other ratchets were nowhere to be seen. I pointed it out to the guy and he was like "oh yeah, some other guys have gone through this already"...figures! At that point there's no way I was giving him full price for it so I told him that my offer was for everything in the pics, and since he pulled a bunch of stuff out already I'd only do $40. He hemmed and hawed for a minute but eventually accepted.
Without further ado here's the box and most of the contents. I initially just assumed it was a Kennedy until I got it home and pulled the cover out. That was a pleasant surprise as I have a soft spot for Duplex boxes.
Here's what it looked like as I was going through it...
And the interesting contents, this is most of what's in the box although there was a bunch of misc Proto, Indestro, and Craftsman sockets and extensions.
Socket tray is Matco, bar is New Britain, Champion plug gauge, Snap on ruler, Starrett dividers and 420 calipers, micrometer is Proto, then a couple Starrett feeler gauges and a Helios wiggler set.
Everything in this pic is Snap on. Unfortunately the ratchet is a Canadian version and a lot of the combo wrenches have owner's marks but I'm not complaining!
SK Wayne combos except the normal SK 7/8. Pretty sure I have a proper replacement and some of the smaller sizes.
=v= 1/2 drive sockets, some Husky USA metric combos and flare wrenches, and a Craftsman USA crows foot metric set.

Try this forum:So, still looking around and cant find a date for this knife. But... I am carrying it daily and love it : } anyone know how to date these pocket knives ?

I think that knife was auto-open at one time. Maybe the spring broke or was removed. I have a knife that works the same way because I removed the spring so I can carry it legally here in MA.A few week ends ago I was attending my regular flea market. The pickins were slim to none. So, when that happens I go into dig mode. Meaning I look more thoroughly at things that aren't in my norm wheelhouse. Tools mainly. I had been there 2 hours and not scored a single item. I go to a booth that I normally don't check out much. They do house cleanouts but rarely any tools I would find interesting, usually the cheapo stuff. there is a box of old tobacco pipes under one of the main tables. I bend down and take a look at the roughly 20+ pipes. I know nothing about them. some are really old looking, some broken, and some... Hey...wait.. what's this.. *pushes pipes to one side of the box. Its an old pocket knife! Pull it out and immediately get that SCORE feeling! turns out its a Shrade Walden. Has a push button to unlock the blade to move in either position. I notice right away theres no finger nail slot... Strange. Must be pretty old! I look through some SW catalogs. One all the way back to 1928. I find the same knife but the dimensions at an inch shorter than mine... and they have an extra safety type switch mine dies not, So, still looking around and cant find a date for this knife. But... I am carrying it daily and love it : } anyone know how to date these pocket knives ?
Yea I remember them from Boy Scout days. We found out quickly that the styrofoam type carton would get water logged and then bend when picked up. This usually resulted in several dropped eggs that bust in the ice chest. Once we got the plastic holders we didn’t experience anymore broken eggs in ice chest, can’t say the same about outside the ice chest. They actually work quite well. One side has some soft fingers to keep the eggs from jostling so much - I can only recall one cracking ever, and that's over some pretty rough roads.
I wondered if it was an early auto! Its a pain to pull the blade out but I still really like to carry and use it. I keep watch on the bay Id love to find ne that works properly if it is indeed an auto!I think that knife was auto-open at one time. Maybe the spring broke or was removed. I have a knife that works the same way because I removed the spring so I can carry it legally here in MA.
40" wide, 48 " high, 19-3/4" deep. I'm going to call Snap On today about slides and detents. The drawers will open when rolling moving the slightest bit. One drawer the slides are kaput, totally. That's a nice find! How wide is the unit? (I'm stiil on the hunt for an all-drawers roller 36" wide, as the base for a Montezuma top...)
Essentially. The closed grab bags at public auctions come to mind, too, where you don't really know what's inside, you're taking a flyer based on the context of the estate. Still. It does make you wonder. Nine out of ten times the safe or strongbox is probably empty or worthless. But did someone keel over with the goods inside with no executor and no authority to drill it open? It's a good thing I'm not rich, because I'd probably be less rich right quick.Pig in a poke x 4.
Stopped by a local flea market that I don't frequent hoping for some finds. Managed to grab this interesting pair of J.P. Danielson pliers for $3.00 and a box full of misc tools for $20 because I spied a Proto pipe wrench, Duro-Chrome ratchet and Vlcheck DBE. There wasn't much else in there worth keeping.

Rags, I have to agree with MAD. It was the first thought that popped into my mind when I saw it.I think that knife was auto-open at one time.
Thanks for posting them. They look exactly like mine. It would still be nice to know if they were related to the motor car company. Here are my Packards.

Pulled this out of the dumpster at work. I know it's not from a garage sale, but I think it still fits in this thread.
Awesome! do you have the model No. for the roller?40" wide, 48 " high, 19-3/4" deep. I'm going to call Snap On today about slides and detents. The drawers will open when rolling moving the slightest bit. One drawer the slides are kaput, totally.
