That site still lists the Sears Outlet stores. They were sold and given a new name 6+ months ago- American Freight is something like that.

Sears Auto Centers are still listed near me yet the anchor Sears has been closed.

I keep meaning to go get information on my purchases over the years off the website before its too late. See how much I actually spent there.

Great idea. I look at all of my craftsman tools and think how much I saved by all the deals they offered over the years. There is no way any retailer nowadays can even come close.

There isn’t a store within 100 mi of me anymore. Some of the malls they were in are still hanging on, but one got demolished last year to build a mixed use development instead.

I spent a decent amount over the years there, mainly for tools I needed at the time. I did pick up a bunch of stuff over the last 2-3 years though as they wound down. Actually found a decent selection of USA made stuff that started showing up at the outlet stores. Unfortunately since they sold those to American Freight they are all appliances and furniture now. No tools or yard equipment at all.

It will be interesting to see what SBD does with the brand once they get the Ft. Worth factory up and running.

The stores of my life have all gone now. Toys R Us, Childrens Palace, Kaybee Toys, Babbages, Electronics Boutique, Software Etc, Radio Shack, CompUSA, Sears, Montgomery Ward, Service Merchandise, Waldenbooks, B. Dalton Booksellers, Builders Square, Western Auto, K-Mart and probably more that I can’t think of anymore. Sure some of them merged or got bought but the end result just wasn’t the same.

I hate getting old.

What has been the story with Craftsman anyways? Last I heard Stanley bought the Craftsman, but have they started making US tools again?
That new new new new new news is going to pop up any minutes again and again now...

Eddie found a new vendor for torque wrenches, check it out. Maybe the old girl isn’t dead yet. Hope we can get some points offers soon....

Does anyone have just the case from the 78 pierce impact set they’d want to sell? Posting this here because I know a few people picked one up during the final sale days. DM me if you do!

The end is here for my run with sears... RIP to the store I grew up with and ended up living about a mile down the road from.

The freep article is not accurate in saying that there are still sears outlets in operation; they have closed and been absorbed by american freight.

Happy Labor Day weekend everyone.

I’m going to mention this here because it’s something I was not aware of but if you have the “SYW Mastercard” aka 5-3-2-1 rewards card that Sears was pushing it has become a “hot deal”. I noticed that since Sears stopped pushing points, they started offering massive deals thru the card.

in my email I had multiple offers for 5 or even 15% cash back when using the card and the offers stack. In other words I’ve been getting close to 20% cash back when using the card. You do have to click on the emails to activate the offers.

Currently I have 10% cb on gas, restaurants and grocery, $100 max per month good till October I believe, must spend at least $600 per month, 15% cb on utilities per month max of $40 per month also good to October. Each billing cycle I’ve been getting a spend $500 get $35 on anything, and I recently got a 5% back on anything up to $50. Looking thru my old emails they seem to rotate these by quarter.

So for example the ten percent stacked with the 5% and the 35 back on 500;(my first test purchase was $500 in gc at Kroger’s) - but the 10% didn’t kick in until I crossed the $600 threshold.

I wouldn’t run out and get this card but if it’s in your sock drawer/ back of your wallet it’s definitely worth dusting off.

For example my august billing statement just closed-

I spent $ 500 on gc at Kroger
$240 at Kroger on fuel (coded as a gas station)
$21 at a bakery(coded as bakery)
$29 at restaurants

Total spend $790

My statement balance was $656 (some rounding here) roughly 17% cb plus about 3% in rewards (useable at Sears Kmart or you can buy gift cards fulfilled by raise) the bakery purchase dragged my average down a bit.I don’t count it here but the gc Kroger purchase also earned 2k in fuel points which would also be $70 in rewards.

And the credit posts pretty quick, usually within a week of spending.

So Eddie didn’t stop giving everything away, he just switched the give always to cash thru the card- hope it helps someone.

Any of you guys still ordering stuff from Sears? I think it's been a year or more since I've bought anything from them. I'm somewhat surprised they still have inventory to sell.

all of the sears by me closed up. real shame because 30 years ago sears was decent

Ive said it before and ill say it again-sears HAD the chance to be amazon, instead the squandered it. As time wore on the stores and sears itself basically carried nothing. tools were the only thing making them money and they kept cheaping out on them

I jumped on sears.com just to see if they are still alive. What a joke that site is now. It's a hodge-podge of overpriced products sold mostly by third parties with high shipping costs. So sad to see what Sears has become.

Since its been 3 months since anyone posted here I thought I'd throw a couple items up. Yeah, theyre still alive- not a lot of inventory but a couple deals (if you need it)

The Craftsman "Evolv" Metric Impact Set - $19.99 - 10 pieces, half inch drive- Made in Taiwan, good deal for the money if you need it, they charge shipping for them but its not bad-

And

the Craftsman 26 piece wrench set, $54.99 (free ship) These were $39.99 I think a few years back (3 or 4) as a Xmas special- Link is for metric, the SAE set is the same price.

Oh, and if for some reason you need it - the 75 piece tap and die set is $99.00 - I think its identical to the gear wrench version. No points deals or coupons anyway, Rakuten will give you a whopping 1% cash back

The one I use for light duty repairs, assembly modifications and rethreads looks identical to this one. $140 or so a few years ago and still happy with the money spent. Decent selection of imperial and metric, clean cuts, not much slop in the threads, no taps snapped yet--slow and steady. Tap handles could be upgraded, but have others. Project Farm on youtube did a sampling of kits about a year ago. Does look similar to the gearwrench without the nicer holders, and a Husky kit as well.

I was in El Paso a week ago for work. Imagine my surprise to find a Sears still open. Naturally I went inside, and it was just as sad as I thought. They did have a digital Craftsman 1/2" torque wrench for $60, same price on the website. That was about all I saw of interest. Stacks of 450 piece tool sets though. Rest of the store was pretty empty too.

So sad to see it. I used to enjoy walking through the tool department at Sears.

I still get emails from sears about stuff thats on sale, mostly appliances. I've not been able to unsubscribe just yet. It may be annoying but (us saying the same old thing), I'll never get over sears going belly up. Wish I could've been born many decades sooner and died in 2008.

Nah…we all know the CEO was taking the company on a downward death spiral so we move onward to something else hopefully better

My extended family has over 50 years of Sears employment. Add in another 50+ years of K-Mart employment from my in-laws. Still hard to believe there is not single one of these stores within a couple hundred miles.
