    Air compressor run time

Compressor is doing great, apnost done cleaning up shop so I can start using some tools. I looked more into this sheave sizing. Motor is 8" while pump is 14". According to a calculator the motor at 1725 would be driving the pump at 986 rpm. The pump is rated at 1725, obviously I could put...

    Sizing Beam for Mezzanine

It came out better than I hoped for. 3-2×12 to span the front, 2-2x8's along the back a little tighter. Decided on 4x4 16ga utility panel for railing, will help avoid necessity of additional lighting up top.

    Sizing Beam for Mezzanine

The middle support will actually be in a pretty good spot, (right in front of my lift) for a 220 welding plug and an air outlet. What do you think a beam that size would cost out of curiosity? I've only built with wood and a 16' 2x12 is $49.97 today.

    Sizing Beam for Mezzanine

I have extra 4x12', or I'd go with #2 2x12's, not interested in cost of lvl.

    Sizing Beam for Mezzanine

I'd appreciate some input on my beam sizing and proper spans, something just seems wrong to me. I'm building a mezzanine or storage loft along the back wall of my pole building. I already have a 12x12 office I built in one of the back corner with a loft on top, what I'm doing is extending the...

    Air compressor run time

Thanks for the math everyone. sounds like it isn't operating at full capacity... The cylinder walls were pretty wiped when I started, I ran the hone through it and tried to get a good cross hatching, I didn't mess with the valves at all, maybe I should have replaced those while I had it apart...

    Air compressor run time

Long story short, I bought a very used Big Red Air ( SnapOn brand) for $200, got it all back together. I'm wondering if it meets performance specs after I honed cylinders and put new rings in. It is Ingersol Rand 2340 pump and 80 gallon tank. It took 2 min 45 seconds to cycle, 140psi to cut...

    Air compressor wiring help

I don't think this came with a magnetic switch, I'm looking into what is missing though.. searches tell me that the right high amperage pressure switch won't need the mag switch? Motor is thermaly protected, has the two starting capacitors and the single run capacitor. I haven't wired those...

    Air compressor wiring help

Picked up a BRA618A compressor. It's a 6hp baldor motor, Ingersoll-Rand 2340 pump. 80 gallon tank. I have a smaller 3.5hp 60 gal U.S. General compressor that works fine, but this was a good deal. Someone wired the presure switch to a 120 plug, and removed the wiring from the pressure switch...

4 post lift with warped feet

Brought home a brand new Atlas Pro-9,000 lift. As expected and reported by others, the instructions stink. The reason I went with a 4 post is I wanted the rock solid stability and assurance of a 4 post. I did go for a rolling jack so it will be a useful tool. My concrete is about 3 years old...

Tired of two post lift concrete questions?

I'm days away from pulling the trigger on a two post lift, or tapping out and buying a 4 post. My question relates to concrete and that's why I'm hesitant today. I had what should be a 4" span poure about 2 years ago. It is 48x40 poke building. There is no metal at all, they used fiberglass...

    Piecing together an air compressor

Thanks for all the input guys. Looking more at my options I'll just have to wait for the right compressor to come up. There is an oil less compressor cheap, it has a bad pump.. But has 60 gallon tank and a 5hp motor. Motor is 240 22 amp. ProAir II? Anyone know if it is safe to mount a new...

    Piecing together an air compressor

I've gone back on forth between buying an old compressor like a Quincy QT54 and rebuilding it or buying a new one. Thing is, I have a 2hp motor I bought a long time ago, 1750 rpm, continuous duty nema 145t mounting pattern 7/8" keyed shaft 110/230v. I found a bare 80 gallon horizontal tank...

    40x60 in the PNW

Thanks for the insight, I already have a builders my wife grew up with them, it's a family busines, Berkey Pole Buildings. Since it is 60' deep I need to keep items stored against the walls to a minimum. Plus, I always seem to get leaves and stuff blowing in, if there isn't anything up front it...

    40x60 in the PNW

Been following this site for some time, it is about time for me to finalize my plans and get going. I have a little chunk of land that is big enough for 40' wide and 60 deep. I hear nobody ever said, "boy, I wish my barn was smaller", so that's my footprint. This will be used for general...
