    Vise Idea Attaching a Hinge...I've been thinkin...again.

So I have an idea for building something like a pattern maker's vise. I really like the idea of the emmert pattern makers vise. However, I cant afford to drop $350 + on a knockoff one. I have been snooping around and I'm considering making one. However it will only pivot 90 degrees to the...

Ideas To Build Foot Operated Leg Vise

I have been researching ideas for building a foot operated leg vise. I like the idea of a jawhorse but don't like it not having any substantial weight with it to keep it stable. I also like how versatile the pattern maker's vises are that attach to a workbench but those are $$$$. I figure a...

    Lets see your workbench

Just wanted to share my workbench. I consider my bench more of a "maker's" workbench. I do a little bit of everything with it. It's not too big and not too small (top surface is 30" x 60" and height is 32"). For what I use it for, it has worked really nicely for the past 4 or so years that I...

HF Hydraulic Lift Cart or Jawhorse

Looking for opinions on which of the two items to get for my garage this winter. I do more general projects of all kinds, light mechanical work, wood projects, and handyman type work too. So I am looking at the harbor freight 1000 pound cap lift cart or the jawhorse. Which do you think would...

    Attn. concrete gurus

To add to Larryjones's comment, i would recommend around the entire perimeter of the repair area that you have sharp perpendicular face cut into the concrete. Then chip out the concrete to a more uniform depth across the entire repair area. This is to prevent feather edges flaking off in the...

    Mother Earth Folding Workbench...Neat Design

I ran across this yesterday looking for a diy plywood cutting table. I thought it was a neat idea and was from the 1980's Mother Earth magazine. I thought others here might have a similar interest or might be able to use it in their shop. I think you could even use it as a dual purpose...
