    Hi again, Thanks all for your replies. The garage door is 16 x 7 and the walls are about 8 high .No insulation. The heater would only be used when somebody would be in there, not continuously. I would rather have an electric one as we do have the power to run it. Anna

    Pea gravel would be ideal , it does the job and can easily be removed . Leaks would also be prevented.
