    Microscopic electronic repair. How to?

Grant, sometimes a degree of caution needs to be applied when measuring components "in circuit", the surrounding circuit may be a more significant (higher or lower value depending on configuration series/parallel) than the component you think you are measuring. Take the 0.2R - in IMG_7420 the...

    Microscopic electronic repair. How to?

In a former life, heavily involved in PCB/electronic manufacturing I'll second what WildBill said, it was Metcal for soldering and optical stereo microscopes for assembling small items. We did have a couple of the Vision Engineering Mantis 3D viewers for inspection. Its a few years back, so...

Tree Loppers, Stihl, Vaca or Hickok?

Not sure if its a regional, model or just random thing, but I got some new Fiskars L78 powergear loppers last autumn and they were made in Poland - ok not Finland - the quality was good and with the gear function they just love to chomp through think branches.

    Decent hand impact driver?

I was needing one last year and came across this from Bahco 7823: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Bahco-7823-Impact-Screwdriver-Set/dp/B00TSXL1A8/ref=pd_lpo_vtph_60_tr_img_2?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=9C2MTWVSA1VQYZ0CNZFN Hadn't really associated Bahco with impact drivers, there weren't many reviews...

    Tools from the old world

Not a direct comparison, but my older (2+years) 10.8V versions of that light are silent in operation.

    The Shipping Crate

Looks very similar to an Incra T rule: http://www.incra.com/measuring_marking-trules.html very useful for drawing lines parallel to an edge.

Looking for clean (steady) 14+v DC power supply capable of 50+amps

Maybe considered overkill, but absolutely bomb proof are the "system power supplies" from HP/Agilent/Keysight eg 6572A will do 20V @ 100A: http://www.keysight.com/en/pd-839229-pn-6572A/2000-watt-power-supply-20v-100a?nid=-32611.384515.00&cc=CA&lc=eng Although listed as obsolete like most...

    Nobar torque wrenches

We use them at work for product assembly (1/4 drive) and never had a problem with them. Based on that I bought 1/2 drive for use in the garage at home and am pleased with them. As mentioned above they do OEM for quite a few manufacturers.

    Festool Dust Extractor

I got a smaller model (part of deal with track saw) a couple of years ago and it has made a huge difference to power tool work using it as part of a dust collection system, the workshop needs much less clean up. As a general shop vac (not used for dust extraction) it is overkill and I would...

    Tools from the old world

Yes both labelled "Made in Germany". Although they still feature in the Bahco catalogue they seem to be quite rare out there in the wild, only one supplier (rapidonline) in the UK with any stock.

    Tools from the old world

Having broken another plastic handled junior hacksaw and inspired by the recent best hacksaw frame thread I went looking for something a little different:
