Best tools for removing metal roof

Morton Buildings crews use a slide hammer welded to hoof nippers, I copied their tool and have stripped 2 buildings with it. The quick action and impact make the ringshanks come out easy.

    FireHouse 51

I got up this morning and turned on the tv and thought I have seen that firehouse before. I got on the computer looked up this thread, yup it was your place. I somehow missed when you told us that you were featured on "Desperate Landscapes" with Jason Cameron, that's pretty cool man. Just wanted...

Yes, moth balls work very good. Good luck getting rid of the smell of the moth balls, but its lots better than having a snake present.

    Pex question

I've plumbed 6 complete houses with copper crimp rings, never had a leak in 8+ years. Sometimes you have to plan ahead when in tight spaces. I always use 2 crimp rings on every connection. Rings are cheap in bulk and it's cheap insurance.

DirtRoad's pole barn soon to be shop

Stupid question, are you sure its only 20 feet deep? Counting ribs on the end wall that appears to be 24 feet deep. The lawn mower is what made me question it, they are about 7 feet long on that model. But anyways I have a 26x45 and I like it.

You need a "low headroom track kit". But with only 5 inches of clearance i'm not sure that will work. Good luck!

Do I really need these roof supports?

I removed the knee braces from my building more than 15 years ago. I live in northern Minnesota and at times have a lot of snow on the roof (until it slides off) and have had no problems at all. All of my trusses are notched into the poles and have 60 penny pole barn nails securing them in place.

    Moving outside faucet - PEX

Most PEX cant withstand UV light, so keep it covered. You can generally bend PEX at 6 times its diameter ( 1/2 inch can make a 3 inch bend ) they make bend protectors that will hold a bend in place.

    Butcher block tops CHEAP

I just want to warn anyone buying Ikea butcher block, open the boxes right away and inspect. I did a kitchen for a contractor who insisted on buying the Ikea's. When I opened the boxes the butcher blocks were warped big time, 3/4 of an inch in 8 feet. The 320 mile round trip to replace all three...

    How To: Shear Corrugated

Harbor Freight sells a 7-1/4 inch metal cutting blade for $20. Carbide tipped and works flawlessly, virtually no burr. I cut 9 sheets of Menards Pro Rib steel at one time to get perfect wainscotting. Laid the sheets upside down and clamped them so there would'nt be any chatter. Zero issues. I...

    Marking Treated Lumber (framing)

Look at your local office supply store for INDELIBLE pencils. Usually called a bottle of ink in a pencil. Thats what log home builders use to scribe green logs.

    Metal roofing, overlap question.

I just added on to my woodshop, same roof pitch just extending the length of the roof by 10 feet. This is a pole barn with Menards roof tin, how much overlap do i need? I called Menards but they don't have an answer for me. I live in northern Minnesota and i need to avoid ice creeping. What say you?
