Between 705 & 1200 SQ/FT From losing everything to being cash-poor and shop-rich in "only" five years!

Re: From losing everything to being cash-poor and shop-rich in "only" five years! Soo! Read through your whole thread during the last few days. Impressive results, really like the outcome and must admit, if I'd start such a project, a lot of it would go down the same slippery slope between...

    Show us your VFD conversions/installations

Here some information on the vfd install i did on my Okuma LS540 lathe. The lathe originally came with star delta starter and a 10hp motor, running 400v 3-phase (household grid connection is 230v single phase or 400v 3-phase over here). First I used an SEW drive I found when a local company...

Rust, Primer, Paint, Body Filler questions

I used Phosphorous acid, it is easier to find here. Things like Evaporust are easier to source stateside, not sure what the main ingredient is.

Swedish workshop in a old brewery

Great to see this! Super nice workshop and house. One day i'll find such a place too :bounce: I visited Sweden a few times, always had a great time there! Like the volvo-holset, thats a big turbo! I daily drive a turbo swapped 240 and some more turbo swapped volvo's in the family. And some...

Rust, Primer, Paint, Body Filler questions

I would use acid to remove the rust, neutralise, then primer, then filler. Wire brushing, imho, is only good for removing part of the rust. To get it perfect takes too long for me, so i switch to acid or media blasting. And if it isnt spotless, no rust, after wire wheeling, chances are the...

Compression - Show Off Your Compressor

Hi Ironhose, I think I fixed the picture now. But time will tell, I still don't understand Googles new picture upload program. Nice, I like the newer version you have too. I was pleasantly surprised by how silent they are. And with the aluminium compressor a lot easier to handle. A friend of...

Compression - Show Off Your Compressor

My new old compressor. A 1968 vintage Atlas Copco KT4 with 150 Liter vertical tank. 5,5 Hp 400v 3-phase motor, 2 cylinder 2 stage cast iron pump. 550L/min theoretically, max 14 bar/200PSI. In practice probably 450-ish L/min - 15-16 CFM. Bought it running quite nicely. Discovered the motor...

    Tools from the old world

Nice. We just got the Stihl 36v Leafblower. Advertised working time is 24 minutes with the big (6 Ah?) pack but i think i get longer run time from it. Really excellent tool, easy to use, powerful, light and super nice throttle function. Oh and pretty silent too.

Is your compressor inside or outside your shop ?

Mine is inside, to keep it somewhat above freezing temps. It is in a small room where the well pump and other stuff is. With the door closed the noise level is quite low. 4 hp 2 cylinder compressor. Thinking of adding a better intake filter, muffler and Helmholtz resonator to quiet it down a...

Tab and Slot design for mounting a 12 Hp variable frequency drive in a shallow control cabinet, to keep my old lathe looking old. TIG brazing with CuSi-3 rod.
