Evaporust hurt chrome or oxide finishes?

I also wipe mine down with a shop rag lightly saturated with motor oil, or give them a light spray with WD40 (WD40 is especially good on "moving part" type tools, like Crescent wrenches, where you really can't wipe the oil in well)

Evaporust hurt chrome or oxide finishes?

This is incorrect. Evaporust WILL strip any oxide coating's right off. I found out the hard way with some rather nice Snappy slip joints and some other tools as well as a bunch of impact sockets. Just because I was curious, I just did some research. Straight from Evaporust's page; I've...

Need advice about a parts washer

I made my own. I got a 16gallon drum from Pennzoil (free. They get ATF, gear lube, etc in them). Sawzall'ed the top off (wasn't a removeable type, welded with bungs only). My ex-boss gave me a old fiberglass utility sink from when he redid the shop bathroom. It's heavy enough and slanted...

    cone shaped piston ring compressors

I agree the taper compressors are certainly the nicest. I got one for my Jeep 4.0 stroker build. It was worth the few extra bucks to save the aggrivation. The pistons ended up having to go in and out 3 times, first time to plastigauge the clearances, way loose. Yup, they sent standard rod...

This is why i will still buy Craftsman tools from Sears

Seriously, worst sandpaper EVER. I've had that sentiment for a long time. I recently read a thread somewhere (I think it was here on GJ) that said "a piece of toast would have done a better job". I just about died laughing, because it's true.

Anyone see the Cman ratcheting open end wrenches??

I like how in the youtube video posted earlier how it says "Three point touch grab allows maintaining a grip even with much worn out hexagonal bolts" Meanwhile, they're showing it with a brandy new 19mm bolt. The old style without the cam inside DEFINITELY sucked. Absolute garbage. These...

    New TX & EX sockets

Owning a Jeep, I'm very intimate with Torx. I've gone through many different sets, HF (was in a pinch early on) being the worst, Snap On's being the best. The Craftsman set I had were marginal, but I still broke a few. I've yet to break a Snap On. That being said, I would buy the best that...

Just what every one needs to match there pink snap on box.

At least the Snap On version looked good. The trim and drawer pulls are just hideous on that.

    Engine Oil

On a side note, how's the sledding in your neck of the woods? We come out of Munising but don't get much south of Gwinn. If the snow is good, we'll do a run from Munising to Copper Harbor and back though.

    Engine Oil

Uhh, what's wrong with just taking it to the parts store and emptying it into their bulk used oil container when you're done with the oil change?

Typical Maine Garage (a little messy)

I really like the shelving units with all of the bins. If I had something like that, I might actually be able to get myself organized. Then again, I have enought **** stuffed in our 1.5 car (with 6' 2" ceilings...) that could fill a 3 car nicely. At least then I could move around!

Best Epoxy for a Bench Top?

Is that ceramic tile? Looks really nice! I know sure as **** though, I would be rebuilding a transfer case or the like, drop the tail shaft housing and end up cracking a tile, probably the day it was installed no less.

    Craftsman Wall Cabinets $99

The new Sears website *****. You have to be especially careful now as they're listing 3rd party sellers and at first, it wasn't obvious to me. I nearly ordered a full set of Hansen socket trays from some random guy, thinking it was Sears. As far as the HF cabinet, for 2/3 off of the Sears...

    auto battery tools

No swivel jaws, but have you tried the 208CCP's from Snappy? http://buy1.snapon.com/catalog/item.asp?P65=&tool=all&item_ID=89289&group_ID=1496&store=snapon-store&dir=catalog I've been quite pleased with mine. Lots of leverage and the teeth bite very well.
