Thought I would share a welding project that I did recently. I made a ground socket for my park grill and deer hoist. This is so handy that I am coming up with other uses for it. I installed it outside of my shop along the drive pad.
Back in 2018, I got on here and asked for recommendations for insulating a shop roof. It took me years of thinking and procrastinating and doubting, but I finally went with the foam board, and I've never been happier with a decision. What a significant difference it is made. I'm going to save a...
Metal Shop size: 20X30X (15 to roof peak of roof)
Insulation: R13 walls ONLY. Walls are 10' to bottom of rafters...then it's an open vault to metal roof. Only drip roll under metal roof / NO roof insulation.
I have a 3'(W) X4'(H) window that has a wired reciprocal box (10ga wires) next to...
Thought of a cool way to mount my homemade double mailbox bracket to a metal post. Think "receiver hitch"... this really worked out well.
Double Mailbox Bracket
Here's another one I'd like to share. This rack is SUPER EZ to make and has made organizing so much better. This would be a good 'small welding project' for a beginner welder.
This was past down to me through word-of-mouth as a way to cut sheet metal with baling wire. When my dad was little (in the 1940's) he helped my Grandpa and Great Grandpa build a barn that had sheet metal siding. This is how they did it. Just remember.......back then, the wire, men and...
Thanks! I should mention that I weld in this shop. not sure if that matters with the foam insulation being so high up. Also..... would this foam collect dirt, grim, and smoke damage at a worse rate than batting or someother insulation?
I have a metal shop that is heated with a wood stove. The walls are insulation with R13 and the roof has jack-squat! It's a vaulted (cathedral) ceiling, and I'd like to keep it that way. my rafters are spaced 4' apart. What kind of insulation can I put between the 4' rafters on the ceiling?
Ok..... here's another one I had to share just because it seems to be a hot item on YouTube. Throw one of these on your deer cart next year and you will be able to pull a deer straight up out of a deep hollow with a push of a button. I love this thing. Saves my bad knees and back.
Been a while since I posted. Thought I'd show off a project that I'm proud of. I needed a rack under my topper to hold fishing rods and other stuff, but I didn't want to drill holes in my topper. Came up with an idea that's kind of act like bows in a covered wagon. This could be a wood...
Greetings!
I've been a member of Garage Journal for a while, but haven't been an owner of a real garage.......until now! My dream has finally come true with a 30X40 shop (barn) with a concrete floor. at this point, I'm still waiting for the electric to be hooked up and a drive pad poured...
