Reviving an old thread. I'm finally ready to proceed on a shop build similar to this one. Can any of you recommend a good builder? I'm not set on any one type of building....pole, stick or metal. I'm in Olympia, WA.
I just read thru all 16 pages! Awesome shop! A few years ago I converted my barn into a shop which gave me just under 1700 SF. We have 15 acres in Olympia. Our plan is to divide the property, build a new 2500 sf home on the back 6 acres with a 40x60 shop. Our current home is 3600 sf and now...
So, It's a been a messed up couple of weeks. I had a close family member pass away expectantly so I dropped everything and flew to the East coast for a week. I'm back home now and was finally able to get back in the shop today. All I managed to get done today was get the side panels and the...
All I managed to get done today was filling in the other side of the repairs I made. I then needed to do something about the lack of texture where I made the repairs. Since there was no way I could match the oem texture of the panels Itan decided to shoot a couple of coats of rattle can bed...
Here's what I have set up for a router table. Having a 2-station table is a big help and time saver. Also, having a router lift is a HUGE plus! I'm using a Rockler Router Lift FX and here is a link: http://www.rockler.com/router-lift-fx
I got asked many times on what templates I used on my IH Scout build so I thought I'd go into a little more depth on them. Here's a link to the Scout build: http://www.garagejournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=312713
These template kits come from Mobile Solutions located in Tempe, AZ. Their...
I only worked for a couple of hours today but managed to get a little bit accomplished. I did some modifications and repairs on the fiberglass interior side panels for the hardtop. I needed to trim them down a little bit so they fit in with the side panels I built. They also had some holes...
I just read thru the entire thread! Great looking building, Jimmy! I have a barn built in the late 60's that I converted into a 1700 sf shop and plan on having a 30 x 50 like yours built in the next few years.
When a bench is going to be against a wall I always make it 24" so I can utilize a 4x8 sheet the best way possible......2' x 8' x 1.5" thick. I built a "fab table" that has casters on it and it's size is 4' x 4' x 1.5" thick.
That's awesome! I have 6 of these old Scouts ranging from '63 to '77. I also have a 1949 IH fridge. Was VERY happy to find it at a great price in perfect working condition. I use it daily in my shop.
Here's a few pics of the progress I made today.*@#$ I was able to get the trim piece on the amp rack wrapped in vinyl, same vinyl as the front doors and eventually the rear side panels. I also got the cover to the sub enclosure wrapped in carpet.
I drilled 1/8" holes thru the cover into the...
