if he bought to too telling the dealer he wanted one of "them new high tooth ratchets" and didn't get it, the dealer should take it back considering HE, if anyone, should keep up to day with part numbers and what you're actually handing to the customer.

I think that mechanic simply has had bad luck with them in the past, but they have been improved and have better surface contact than a regular coarse tooth ratchet, hence they have better ratcheting kickbacks as well as superior strength.

The listed torques on things have scared me, I almost never need that much force when working with 1/4, 35ft lbs on SO's 1/4 ratchet seem more than enough as it is.

The rebuild kit for this 100th might work just fine in the last generation's head as well. Worth asking a dealer about.
